Re: 7 Heavy System

Yeah, I've had those days. One of the things I really hate is losing my first bet on a table. Winning that first bet seems to build a lot of confidence. Losing the first one is just the opposite. I didn't like using a shovel (mucking out the barn) while growing up - and I don't like using one (diggi...

Re: SLOTS

Okay, I've posted my "slot strategy" in the past. Let's hear from the rest of you guys - assuming you play slots at all. How do you choose a machine? How much do you feed it before moving on to the next one? Do you play max coin in or just feed one coin at a time? Inquiring minds and all t...

Re: Three Approaches to Betting

I'm actually sort of fond of running a negative progression on the free odds when you have a casino that offers 20x or 100x odds. It's a little less taxing to run your progression on the free odds where you're paid correctly as opposed to on a flat bet that's going to pay 1-1.

Ah, the "eff-it" bet. Sometimes known as the "what the hell" bet. Also known as a "one-shot-get-back bet." Been there - done that. Did not have much fun.

Re: The Quest for Old-Timers (and Newbies)

5with4 - now I understand your "handle." I was wondering about that when you registered. Turn that set over and you'll have the same set I use. I am a huge fan of mutant sets. I adopted mine a few years ago after struggling with a single face pitch issue with the right die for years. Inste...

Crossing the Line

I can't begin to tell you how many times I've found myself betting on the wrong side of the line through the years. Seems like whenever I'm betting PASS the dice don't pass, and when I bet DON'T PASS the table gets hot. You know the deal. The table is trending your way - then some little old lady wh...

Re: Those Troublesome Free Bets and Match Play

Well, the casino looks at their "cost" on those coupons when assigning them out. A $25 match play coupon LOOKS bigger to players than it is. If you're playing a 50/50 wager (okay, I know there's no such thing but close enough) then the net value of that $25 match play coupon to YOU is $12....

Three Approaches to Betting

There are basically just three different types of betting strategies. 1. Positive progression betting : With this strategy you raise your bet every time you win. This betting method is akin to what most players utilize, since it does not take a huge beginning bankroll. Catch a winning streak and you...

To Come (bet) or not to Come (bet) . . .

This is one of those eternal questions debated by players, dealers, and math guys alike. To Come Bet or to Place Bet - that is the question. Let me just begin by saying that my BIGGEST wins have pretty much always come when I was Come betting. Sort of. Because I generally start out with some sort of...

Re: How do YOU play the hardways?

Exactly. I look at the hardways sort of the same way that Dice Doctor used to look at Pass or Don't Pass decision. You always back a winning horse. Wait until the hardways start streaking - then dogpile on them. Man, I am starting to get excited about next month's Biloxi class. I'm thinking the hard...

Re: Those Troublesome Free Bets and Match Play

Hey, I've been to that joint. Man, this was waaaaaaay back when. My bride and I were on one of my famous road trips through upstate New York and on up around the Canadian side of the Great Lakes. We were bound for North Bay, where we did a little "camping" and fishing. Beautiful country. O...

Re: How do YOU play the hardways?

I've had crazy "power press" sessions like that where I take my 4 and 10 from $25 to $75 to $150. $250 (locking up a profit) to $500 to $1500, then max out at $2500. I will point out that I have NEVER gotten a hit at the $2500 level on the four or ten, but one of these days . . . Meanwhile...

Re: How do YOU play the hardways?

I'm almost afraid to get into this next discussion on hardway betting, because it takes you waaaay outside the box and into the realm of AVERAGING the house advantage on hardway bets. The hard four and hard ten are paid off at 7 to 1. The true odds are 8 to 1. The hard eight and hard six are paid of...

Re: Those Troublesome Free Bets and Match Play

MGM has used the promo chip approach in the past. I've even had some cage gals ask if I wanted my $100 promo in one black chip or four green. Most of the time, though, they don't ask. They just give you the black chip and wish you luck.

How do YOU play the hardways?

Okay, I know some of you think hardway bets are sucker bets. In fact, they are if you bet them incorrectly. Let's take the player who, for whatever reason, wants an "all day hard eight." That's the only hardway he bets. In fact, other than his Pass Line wager and odds - that's the only BET...

Re: Those Troublesome Free Bets and Match Play

Yeah, you're right on target, DC. The answer those guys gave most often - bet it straight up on the 12 craps. Or aces if you prefer, but a $100 Midnight was the bet of choice. They're reasoning was that you'd win that bet one time in thirty six attempts, kicking off $2900. If you bet it on any even ...
