The WORLD Bet - When and Why?

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

The WORLD Bet - When and Why?

Post by chuckindice » Tue Jan 11, 2022 9:19 am

First off, I understand HOW the World Bet works. That's not this question. I'm curious when and why you would want to bet the World, instead of the Horn/Horn Hi. Are you actually wanting a Horn number, but protecting that bet in case of the 7?

Are there any good strategies for betting the World?

The World/Whirl bet is a favorite of many... This will be a good thread ... What better way to open a point cycle, than with a world bet? The seven protects the horn element, the pass protects the all tall small, A yo gives ya ammo for the press... on a crapless, if ya hit it you don't have to expose bankroll on the extremes since they are covered ...

Use the right set, you can lay the 5 and 9 on the come out .... 7 is a nice winner and the world is still working --- All Game Within a Game. Looking forward to the comments.

I started playing the World bet in combination with a High Low bet YEARS ago - well before the advent of the various carnival bets of today as a Game Within a Game Strategy to turn a profit on the Come Out by tossing twos and twelves. Back in those days I tossed the Crossed Sixes exclusively and used one iteration for the Come Out and a different iteration for the Point Cycle. If I didn't toss a Horn Number on the Come Out I almost always tossed a Nine. My "other" iteration produced an excessive number of Nines, as well as off axis Hard Eights and Hard Tens, which I also bet as well as making Place Bets on the Eight and Ten. In addition to tossing plenty of twos and twelves, I also tossed a fair number of threes and elevens on the Come Out with that set, turning the World-High-Low into a substantial profit center. Long hands with lots of passes yielded substantial profits during the point cycle. Honestly, I probably tossed longer hands and more of them back in those days than I do these days, but I bet much less aggressively as far as pressing is concerned back then, so I made much less profit per hand than I do these day. However, there were some substantial wins made through the years in the Come Out game. On one occasion I tossed six consecutive Twelves on the Come Out at Casino Magic (now BoomTown) in Bossier City. Two weeks later I tossed four consecutive Aces at the Ameristar in Vicksburg, Mississippi. On one occasion, playing with Wild Child at Harrah's in Shreveport, I tossed something like nine Elevens in a row, which drew some attention from the pit. Probably the session I made the most World profit from was at the Golden Nugget in Vegas back around 2006 one night when a gal we called 3 Craps tossed thirteen consecutive World/Horn numbers on the Come Out (including a few "push" Sevens. Toward the end of that series payoffs were coming in the thousands. So WHEN to bet it? Primarily on the Come Out. Why to bet it? For me, it's almost entirely for the Game Within a Game. But Parson is correct. With the advent of the ATS bet we're also using it to hedge larger than normal Pass Line bets made to hedge ATS bets, so it's hedging hedges as well. Something I wouldn't necessarily approve of, but it works well in this situation.

i really like parsons comments and outlook toward the bet.
I'm curious when and why you would want to bet the World, instead of the Horn/Horn Hi.
Typically, i still start with a horn bet for a couple of reasons, first i usually place a 4&1 horn to get the dealers on board. Second, i fortunately dont toss alot of 7s on my very first toss of the game. From there my play varies depending on a number of variables and how i feel. To answer the question, i do move my bet to the world especially after a couple of hits (back to back 3s in particular) to protect my pressed up horn hits.

Line bet in increments of $35, Craps check in increments of $5. ATS in increments of $15 at 35-175-35 table. Enough high vig bets there, why would I add a 16.67% bet to this? Big Red is BS, (Beyond Stupid) JMHO

WIth the advent of the higher table minimums, I've been scaling back my GWAG play a bit. That $5 minimum action on center table bets, which translate to a $25 horn high ace-deuce or $30 World ace-deuce, can dig a pretty deep hole on $25 tables.

So on a $25 table, I've dialed back to a $5 any craps to start with that I'll bump a unit on each win, including bumping it up if I toss a yo or 7. If I get it up to $20, I'll convert it to either a horn high ace-deuce or World ace-deuce.

I've been using the same play on a $15 table too, along with bumping my PL to $20, but I should probably war game going back to a horn high ace-deuce or world ace-deuce.

If you can try to avoid the high low, using a set with 6's and 1's on axis, betting $1 ace deuce per $15 line bet is a cheap alternative

Agreed. I don't play the GWAG on $25 tables. Instead I use my point cycle set and do my best to avoid both the Seven and the Craps numbers and just get a point established and go from there. It's "old school" craps and if the ATS comes that's great.

On the $25 table, I'm using my point cycle set as well. The $5 any craps starts off being a hedge against losing a larger PL bet and if I do toss a craps number, it pays enough to cover the PL loss and still bump up the any craps bet by a unit and rake $5 profit. If I manage to screw up more and toss another any craps winner, then it becomes time to think about switching to a craps heavy set once the any craps bet get up past $10 and trying to see if I can correct course on the toss and hit a couple more for some decent payouts.

If I happen to toss a 7 on the initial comeout, the PL winner will be enough to reset the 5/5/5 ATS action, plus replace the any craps and bump it by another nickel for a push. If I toss a yo I can bump the any craps bet and still rack $15.

I don't like any 1 roll bets except on the come out. I really like crapless craps for the reason of never really having to do 1 roll bets and you can have action on any # that stays up every roll continuously. Just my opinion

I think I mentioned this recently on another thread, but here goes....

I have two sets in my Coaster Group that I use on a couple of validated tables for GWAG. One is 2/3 horn rich and one is 11/12 horn rich. Both have sixes and aces staggered by one pitch. So a on axis 1-6 or 6-1 can happen especially when shooting from straight out. Nothing sucks more in GWAG than having a pressed horn knocked down by an on axis comeout seven. Especially if you full pressed the first hit. Do that a couple of times and your Horn GWAG strategy will become a World GWAG strategy.

I also like Heavy’s advice that when you do throw that on axis seven in the middle of you GWAG cycle that press the world.

Yeah I know there’s math guys who will howl at this and decry it as bad, bad, bad; but are those the same guys that also say DI doesn’t work? If you have a validated set that’s horn rich, then do it. I know a BT sniper who hits a 2 or 12 1 in 16 on average over 720 tosses; whose horn set exceeds 170 horns out of 720 tosses. Does he play GWAG? YEP!! And also a Field progression WITH GWAG on his favorite tables. 🎲🎲

Is World GWAG for everyone? No. Can it get hairy fast on a $25 or $50 table? Yeah - that takes some getting used to. If you got the toss and the validated set(s) then give it a try.

One more reason for a 2 or 12 is a field progression, to add a 7 is of course ludicrous.

This is exactly how I play it at a $25 table. I never could figure out why at a $15 table you can do a $5 World, but at a $25 it has to be $25.

In the 25 years playing craps, I never never lost a single dollar on the come out. I have always had some kind of hedge. Even when tables were $5, I always had a $1 any crap.

The world bet works for me as my main play is hopping the red. If I am not hitting the red but hitting the horn numbers I will keep the world but start a hi low separately. When on, lots of fun to be had.

Thanks for all the feedback on this bet. My last few sessions out, I have been adding the World Bet like this (Come Out only):

1. I play my usual Pass Line + ATS. Now I add a World Bet. (Usually $10 each.)
2. If 7, the Pass/ATS push. World pushes. I Press World Bet up by $5.
3. If 2/3/12 Horn, I lose the Pass and World wins. I replace Pass, and Press World up to $5.
- If 2/12, I sometimes just Press straight to $25 and try for the home run.
4. If Yo! 11 Horn, it's just extra juice.

Sometimes it feels like I'm bleeding the World Bet. But it's fun when 7s and Horns come on the Come Out, because I know I'm pressing that World Bet up for the next roll. It's really fun (and profitable) to hit those strings of 3 or 4 Come Out 7/Horns in a row. Everyone else at the table is bitchin' and moanin' about setting a Point, but I'm just smiling and collecting chips.

A couple of years ago, I made a spreadsheet for wargaming horn bets. The link is here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d ... =sharing

What I learned from it was for that first hit: press/parlay it; as if you're using a horn set, two horns in a row is achievable. So for me there's no reason to rack a couple of dollars, especially if you are on a familiar table and shooting from an experienced position. Give it a look as you might like the leverage, DN8R
