No More Express Comps

Believe it or not, craps is not the only game in the casino. Savvy players have a back-up plan for when their craps game is off. If Heavy isn't winning at Craps you're likely to find him playing Baccarat, Blackjack, or even Roulette. If the table games aren't working out he may even take a cigar break in the high limit slot area for a little hit-and-run action. But just like craps - you have to plan your play and play your plan. If you have a question on slots, video poker, carnival games or any table games other than craps, this is the place to post. Let's hear about the games you play when you're not playing craps! What's your game? What's your strategy? How's that working out for you? Inquiring minds want to know!

No More Express Comps

Post by Dylanfreake » Fri Oct 16, 2015 5:45 am

MGM properties on their website says that after Dec. 15, 2015 all the properties they own in Las Vegas will no longer give express comps for table play but players can still earn express comps for slot play. However ,table play at Gold Stike Tunica, BeauRivage Biloxi and MGM Detroit will still earn Express comps.

I was really thinking about giving MGM as close to 100% of my play as I could for the coming year since I receive 12X more in comps per hour played from MGM than CET. As basically a craps player only , making two trips per year to Las Vegas , express comps mostly earned at GS Tunica do come in handy , but also it is nice while in Las Vegas to be able to receive more express comps , which I shall not be able to do after Dec 15.

I guess it is good that GS is my home base. My young wife says nothing changes really except in Las Vegas . Of course running around in my head is how long will it take for MGM to cut out table play express comps in Tunica , Biloxi , et al? Also after DEC 15 will table players receive the same amount of express comps as before?

I love spending Express comps at the Carnegie Deli, California pizza, The Pantry, Bellagio Cafe, The Mexican place at Monte Carlo, Nine fine Irishman at NYNY, etc when in Las Vegas.

With over $900 in my Express Comp account maybe I am being too greedy. Maybe I am the greedy one , not MGM. It just that it is a lot of fun keeping up with how much in comps a property gives you each time you play , just like keeping up with how much your bankroll moves after each session and hour of play.

My young wife says if all the casinos would quit giving comps for table play then maybe I could throw some of my boxes of notebooks away. Keeping up with that is as much fun as playing the game.

DF: You are not greedy, you are just a miser. It would be bad to not take advantage of all that is offered. You really have a handle on this comp wagon.

DF,

I freely admit that I don't understand much about the comp game. Here is a question for you since you do seem to understand it well. Without express comps is it even worth giving a players card at an MGM casino in Las Vegas when playing a table game? Will other comps be earned or is express comps all their is? Thanks!

Rhythm roller, I `m not sure if a host or the pit will take care of a players request for a comp or if they will do away with comps for table play. In my case , I do not wager enough for a host to be interested in my play and the way I play, I`m sure the pit could care less about giving me comps for my meager play.

Shootitall, I do have a handle on this comp wagon , I just treat it like another game in life.

I just have fun earning comps whether I use them or not. From Oct 2014 to Oct 2015, I did use $114.50 of Express Comps and $216.25 in Total Rewards comps.

It is all fun. I guess I should get rid of all these notebooks and notepads. It would make good fodder for my red wigglers and nightcrawlers which keep me in good fertilizer for my garden.

Thanks DF!
I also don't play large enough to interest a host and don't plan to ever get to that level of spending in the casino so a host would be interested. Think I may just get away from card use at the tables and only use one for occasional slot or VP play. Why let them recognize me if they are not going to recognize me with a couple of bucks toward my next burger!

I'm assuming that they are going back to the "use it this trip or lose it" comp system on table games that they had before the express comps. If you aren't staying at one of their properties ask for a food comp or something similar. The worst they can do is say no.

I'll still play there because their rules and table selection for double deck blackjack is so much better than the TR casinos in Vegas. I'm still further ahead playing there even if they had no comps.
