HOW TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

HOW TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE

Post by kumar » Wed May 04, 2022 6:27 am

Common mistakes players make

-Over value shooting ability; It is more important to have a sound betting strategy and execute it consistently .It is a mistake to adjust on day 3 of a trip because one got beaten up on day 1 and 2.Adjustments need to be made after the trip otherwise confusion steps in

-Not being aggressive enough. One roll can cover a lot of sins yet I see even big players not taking the juice out of a roll.I ask why? They say they were beaten up the last two days so were just trying to survive. This game is not for the faint hearted. On the 4/10 I will go 30,100,collect,300,collect,900,collect,etc.Now I dont recommend everyone follow it but whatever you decide on how to press stay consistent

-Not spreading the money at risk evenly.I see a player go 25 on the pass-line ,150 odds and 150 across on the other numbers.Total investment 325.The point does not hit yet 4-5 box numbers are rolled .One loses money on the shooter. No 1 goal should be to reach break even in the shortest number of rolls. Why not go 320 across, take 2 hits, regress, collect and reach close to break even in 3 rolls? or spread that money over select numbers, take 2 hits and regress?

-Playing center bets-900 shooters- I have seen the ALL/ALL hit once.Going 5/5/5 on every shooter ?really?do the math,I have been on 3 day trips where nothing hit;that is a 2+k loss.It is a fun bet, take a shot when session is going well and one is ahead.

-Not playing enough Donts. 80% of sessions are rough. Some Dont play can help survive or using Dont play as a hedge is a tool.

-Not recognizing table dynamics.Last trip,a random roller every time he got the dice rolled a good hand [20 numbers,17,27 numbers].Everyone else bombed out.I saw a big player who is a controlled shooter take full advantage of this.I also saw a great shooter go point 7 five times in a row. Most people are afraid to play Donts on controlled shooters;hey when things are not working for an individual take advantage by playing the Donts, may not make much money but will save a lot of money by avoiding the right side.

The reason I love the game is because it is a mental battle with the casino and within one self

one of the worst feelings in craps is to stop or lower your betting and watch a great hand just hammer the numbers you were betting. However, continued betting and losing a giant chunk of your bank roll is not that great either. Like you said, not for the faint of heart.

O..that doesn't bother me. There's always another hand. You lowered your betting..and you are ahead. Great. On the other hand, there is that way of playing where you go with what the winner is doing even if it conflicts with your set way of playing. I never made hop bets. Thought they were the stupidest high vig waste of money..but..I was at a table where this guy was hopping the 4, 5, 9 and hitting like crazy. So..like any modern day hypocrite which seem to abound these days..I hopped bets. And I won like crazy. Still won't do them unless I see evidence.

If the 4 and 10 start popping I'm not looking back until I hit table max. 25-50-100-250-500-1000-2500-5000. Six hits to table max in smaller joints, seven in mid-size casinos, eight in the high end places. And after the first hit you have only $1 at risk. After the second you're working off a "free" bet with a profit in the rack and it's balls against the wall time. I'll let my inside bets "pay for" the rest of my action, then press them when I'm in the black. I may turn my bets off from time to time, but rarely regress. And then it takes a huge energy draining event to make me do it.

On the 4 and 10 front, if I'm on a $15 table and starting the 4 and 10 at table minimum, I'll go 15-40-100. The 15-40 move is a full press including the vig. The 40-100 gets you back your original $15 outlay so you're sitting on a $100 bet with zero exposure.

Your right Kumar, for an infrequent roller like myself, trying to stick to a strategy is difficult after a few quick point seven outs. I have a bank roll i use that is need for nothing else but craps, but it still hurts during the loss. Sometimes it sounds that i should stick to the course of action and see if the table changes.

Sam,
Your thought process is on the right track
I treat controlled shooters the same as random shooters when it comes to betting strategies. On the other hand I would rather play with controlled shooters than random shooters because they have a better chance to sustain a roll.
I track every session including win/loss and during and after a trip analyze what I did correctly and what I did wrong and adjust strategies if needed only after a trip.
People ask me how I bet?
My response is come to the Beau Rivage and observe. It is not going to help you because betting strategies are an extension of your personality.
I am very aggressive on the 4/10 like Heavy but most players have a hard time having a $2000 on the four ,starting from $30.knpwing a single throw can take it all away.So why not play a style, that you have tested, that fits you and allows you to enjoy the game.

Sam,
One added thought
The strategy should allow you to play defense when things are not going your way and aggressive offence when the dice smile.Day 3 play has to be same as day 1 and 2 play even though day 1 and 2 were bad.One good run can cover a lot of sins
