Come out roll strategies

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

Come out roll strategies

Post by nccarl01 » Mon Mar 17, 2025 12:51 pm

Saw a player bet on the Pass line and Field during come out rolls. He said he does this to win on 2,11 and 12, Push on a 7 and basically win a free bet on 4, 9 and 10. Was wondering what anyone else might think of this strategy...

I occasionally bet the Field bet to match my Pass Line bet. I call it a "Mississippi Craps Check." It works just like a craps check - you push on a 2, 3, 12. But you win on a Yo, like a Horn. You push on the 7. Any other point becomes the point. Yeah, you lose on the 5, 6, 8, which means you have 14 ways to lose out of 36 combinations of the dice, so you have around a 39% shot at losing the bet, but all in all it's not the WORST bet on the table. I don't know that I'd make it my go-to play unless you're good at tossing 2's and 12's, but if that's the case you're better off betting a $5 World with a $1 Ace Deuce kicker.

i rarely bet the field, probably from Heavys influence early in my craps journey and i feel like it can be a black hole to get sucked into. Even though i often toss a high percentage of field (craps) numbers. As Heavy mentioned 14 ways to loose out of 36 and with only 4 ways to win i might add. Granted two of those pay double. The free bets you mentioned on the 4,9,10 arent really free bets you are just moving your money around on the table and it is still in jepordy to a 7 roll. That being said i did take advantage of a field bet when playing at last years Rolling on the Red. I acccidently printed all of my free bets into one $150 bet instead of 6- $25 dollar bets. I had been playing for an hour or so. I was about 10-12 tosses into one of my hands and i just had a feeling i was due a field number so i risked the whole thing in the field and Bang! 12 rolls, 150 free bet into $300 real money. No, i didnt leave any of it in the field i put it all into my rack and didnt place anymore field bets.

I almost never bet the field on myself since I set for inside numbers and roll a ton of 5, 6 and 8's.
