Have you ever "never" lost a bet on one outing?

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

Have you ever "never" lost a bet on one outing?

Post by dork » Sun Mar 23, 2014 8:22 pm

I got dragged to the casino again; I should be so lucky…..

I hate going to the casinos on the weekends; there’s just ‘way too many people there when I visit (usually, it’s at least 11am when I’m dragged from the house). I only go on Sat/Su when my wife has to play the slots. As today…

I’ve been lucky during the last coupla outings, throwing from the end because my cherished SR1 has always been occupied. She wanted to go play IP’s slots again. The two $5 tables were full so I hadda play for $10 units. Back in the old days, I got weak knees having to bet at the $10 table with my $300 stake. But like I said, I’ve been rather lucky from the end, so I decided to try two betting strategies—a modified “Dave’s” DON’T grind against “all comers”, and ONLY a $10 PL & $30 odds coupled with a $10 ATS bet (and no place bets) for myself.

So… SR1 has the dice. He’s the onlyest player at the $10 table. They’re paying off the point, and pointedly offer me the chance to buy in. I refuse, but the shooter says, “go ahead”. I reply, “but I’m gonna bet the DC”. He says, “I don’t care”. So we’re off…

$10 DC, (4) no lay. $10 DC (5) w/30 Lay. $10 DC (6) w/30 Lay. $10 DC (7 out). I get paid $75. Yeeha. It’s so rare that I start out a winner on the initial betted hand, I almost wanna pass the dice back to SR1. But with an ‘empty’ table, that doesn’t make ANY sense if I’m really a DI . :)

My dice now. 4-2-4 for the ATS, $10 PL (5) 30 odds. I generally bet more for odds, but I really don’t wanna bet more today solely for the opportunity to toss against the ATS. The short version…

20 minutes later the table was FULL. Wish there was a Fire Bet, too. I hit the All Small pretty quickly; maybe 12 rolls, leaving the 9 and 11 outstanding. Still rolling crossed 6’s, I can’t BUY an eleven… but I’m bangin’ t’hell out of the 4-6 = “ten” rolls. They even look like prime rolls, not both off-axis. Fortunately, I’d hit 2 consecutive points very early, and used the odds payoff to go $54 across almost immediately. (That earlier DC payoff left me in good conscience—chickenshit that I am; the All Small payoff alleviated the knock-knees, too.) The place ten for $10 went from 10 to 30 to 90 to 200 and died there when I rolled a both off-axis 4-3. A shame; I’d planned to reduce the place ten to a $10 bet if it paid that $360 on the next ten.

But I ain’t unhappy. Bought in with $300, and excepting the 7-out that ended my roll, I lost only two bets in total—the fourth $10 bet on the DC against the SR1 shooter, and a come-out $10 PL bet when I rolled the ‘2’ to pay off the All Smalls.

I wish every day was like this! J DAMN!! $1129 for an initial $100 risked on the DC hand, and it snowballed from there. It’s so rare I win on the initial hand I bet I just hadda say something.

We have done this a few times...walked in and started winning immediately with no (or few) lost bets. I think there is something about that out-of-the-gate win which breeds confidence and just makes the whole day go better. This is the positive side of volatility. If you can catch it on the up swing and then quit before the downswing comes it can be very profitable.

Lord, I wish I could make the same claim. I've been at the tables for two years now, and I can probably count "first wins" on one hand. That's why it was so exciting...

G'damn, G'DAMN!! I did it again! Four (4!!) shooters at the $5 table at IP today... I started with a "Dave's DON'T" for 5 and 30 odds, won $100 to start, took the dice as the 4th shooter, and held 'em for about 20 minutes and colored up and went home up $477. Ah cain't bleeve it...

How can there only be four shooters on a $5 table at IP at 5pm on a regular bonus day (Thursdays)?

I missed a segmented All (35-1) TWICE today... couldn't hit the 3 or 8(!!) to save my $4 bet... dang it. Hit the hard 6 three times though from the v-3 while I was tryin' to nail that 8...shoulda woulda coulda... wish I'd parlayed that 2nd h6 instead of just pressing it.

Is this the euphoria of "confidence"? I was actually huntin' for the 3rd h6 when it came up (back-to-back rolls)... I dunno whether to bleeve in myself or count it as juju.

I think this thread has started something. I'm not gonna claim to have walked up and not lost a bet, but last night at my usual Friday night spot I walked in with the intention of playing a DP and one DC with odds and nothing else. I think there may have been four points made the first hour. When the shift change came around the next box man said hello to me as we know each other and asked how I was doing, the dealer answered "he's great, hasn't lost a bet in two hours". Now, that's not completely accurate, but it was a sick run of three tosses and 7-out's.

I wasn't shooing as I don't like to shoot from the donts, but after two hours they talked me into "changing things up". Why in the world would I want to change things up? Things seem to be going just fine to me! In any event I relent and shoot the dice playing from the right side since I'm shooting. Just $10 pass line and $54 across. I made 30 tosses, 6 points, four different ones for a fire bet, colored up and got out of there while the getting was good!

This thread is to thank, I am sure.
