Been thinking a lot about best bets lately - thanks to an off-the-forum question from a member with limited bankroll. Came up with the following list that still needs some refining, I think. Much of how you rank these depends on your personal vision for the game - and SHOULD be influenced by what is currently happening at the table. Then again, maybe you don't see it that way.
1. Place the Six and/or Eight
2. Lay the Point
3. Second Roll Don't Come
4. Place Dominant Box Number
5. Lay Against the Sleeper (a number that has not rolled within the normally expected distribution of numbers)
6. Place the Sleeper (the old due number theory)
7. Place any number that rolls back-to-back in a hand
No, I didn't list the Pass or Don't Pass bet. If you want to use the Pass/Come or Don't Pass/Don't Come I'd venture to say the second roll is probably the best place to play either. If you're only going to bet the Come then I'd consider waiting until the third roll to put any action out. But hey - we're dealing in my opinions here. What are yours? How would YOU rank the above? Is there any bet above you would NOT make? Let's hear it.

1. Lay the Point 2. second roll dont come 3. place six and eight ( i have never played the others but i will write them down and try on my trip to cherokee tommorrow. i have been playing $5 dont pass, start making $5 come bets with $10 odds, and increase my odds on the dont pass as i accumulate come bets. i do the same on a $10 table and have had success my last session. if i am shooting well i will go ahead and lay odds on the dont pass and place bets inside. for some reason i am not understanding #4 (dominant number) advdel77

I quite like placing the sister number of the point if I want to get involved in a randie for a single bet. In doing so I usually wait until an inside box number hits - of course sometimes that is the sister number, but more often the 7 comes instead and saves you money.
advdel77 - dominant number will simply be that number which is hitting the most. Wait a few rolls and if you have seen 2 or 3 sixes, then place that as it is the dominant number.
Not sure I'd be interested in placing the sleeper. I'm not a massive trends person at craps but don't think I have a lot of interest on bucking a trend by betting on something that hasn't happened yet.

For a limited BR, how about a doey-dont, if it is a six or eight, take odds, if the others, lay single odds. Just me but I do not like laying against the 6/8. I can hear the "you dummy" already, but it is just an opinion.
