Re: The Twelve Bets of Christmas
Really appreciated the thread Heavy! That was a lot of information and I'm sure a fair amount of work to put that together. I'm glad you included the 4 & 10 play high on your list. I basically play an inside strategy on myself and other players. If it gets into a long roll I finally get on the 4/10 but I know I've lost several bets during the roll. This just reinforces what I have been seeing on the tables for a long time - when you see the 4 and /or 10 rolling, get on it early.

Fantastic thread Heavy. Thanks for all the great info and the hard work you put into this thread. We leave for Vegas in two weeks and I need to tweak a few things, so I am ready. I give a full trip report when we come back.

Wish I could be in Vegas with you. Will be there in February for NADA, and Howard and I will be running a Craps Boot Camp the following weekend assuming there's enough interest in it.
No doubt you'll see many of the articles from this thread in future newsletters. We do have a few folks who are members who just don't dig deep into threads so I'll give them a second shot at the articles that way.
I am going to once again encourage you guys to visit my other websites - www.axispowercraps.com, www.crapsfest.com, and www.greatamericancrapshoot.com from time to time. There's a ton of great content there, including most of the articles I've written through the years.

Re: The Twelve Bets of Christmas
Buying the 5 and 9 came up in this thread. I know they have this in Biloxi and I believe it is an auto buy at a certain level. Can anybody remind on what stake the buy is please?
Re: The Twelve Bets of Christmas
I believe in Biloxi it's an auto-buy at $20, but we'll need a confirmation from the locals. At $10 it would pay you $15 for $1, or $14 so there's no point in doing it at that level. At $20 it'll pay you $30 for $1, or $29 versus the $28 you'd be paid on a Place bet. Even though they tell you it's automatically bought at that level - I'd ask anyway. I also like to have a supply of $1 chips just for such occasions. Then I can drop a dollar and easily know I'm being paid correctly.

Re: The Twelve Bets of Christmas
If the auto-buy is not in place does anyone actually employ the buying of 5/9 into their betting strategy and at what points?
Re: The Twelve Bets of Christmas
I agree, this was a great thread, lot of good information here, thanks for putting up your other web sites Heavy.

In the spirit of the season, am bumping up this thread so newcomers to the forum can better educate themselves. I for one benefited from it. One's memory has to be refreshed once in a while.

Re: The Twelve Bets of Christmas
On buying the five and nine - in theory you should be able to buy those numbers in any casino at the $20 level. Let's see what that does.
Place the five or nine for $20 - pays total $28
Buy the five or nine for $20 - pay $1 juice UP FRONT - win pays $30 total or $29 net.
Okay, it LOOKS like you get a better deal with the Buy bet, but in most casinos you have to pay the commission up front. The commission is 5%. The house vig on the Place bet is 4%. Assuming you buy the five or nine and pay the extra dollar up front - but never collect on that bet - then the place bet is marginally better. If I'm not mistaken the actual HA calculation puts the house at a 4% advantage on the Place bet and a 4.76% advantage on the pre-paid Buy bet. Bottom line - look for a game that collects the vig AFTER the number wins.
