This should get it's own thread if this has not been thrashed out before.
There is very little that has not been discussed thoroughly on this forum, in this incarnation or in its previous ones, or on the Dice Institute forum or the old Dicesetter forum. It's something Irishsetter and I discuss frequently. There is a certain cycle to these things. I referred to it in a post I made last night, about this being the Fourth Wave of players in the modern dice control movement - the Fifth Wave is near at hand. There's about a three year cycle we got through where new members come into the forum and "discover" things that are all new to them - but the old timers have learned - and in many cases discarded or forgotten. With that said, these sorts of discussions are what keep forums like this alive - so it's a good thing.

One player could wait patiently for some number of tosses before risking making a
DARK SIDE
( Don't Pass / Don't Come or LAYING AGAINST SOME SPECIFIC BOX NUMBER or another)

It is kind of funny reading over these old threads and seeing how your play and thoughts about craps have changed or remained the same. I am still playing the Don't, but am thinking of experimenting with the DC and also maybe play around with placing the 6 and 8 just for kicks.
The Don't Pass has been good for me over the years---- 17 years as of August to be exact. I may abort my experiment as soon as it starts.
Lordy DF, the world will end for sure. You are absolutely the best barometer of how to win at craps long term. We eagerly await a TR on this new adventure. If this works as well or better than your current playing, then what? Do you have to rethink the last 10 years on a wooda coouda, maybe, what? Just joshing ya. After all you have stepped up to some very good whiskey, although I haven't had a shot of it in like 30 years. This is going to be fun. sia
Well the DP and the DC are the same house edge-wise. The 7 and 11 rolling when the bet is in the DC box is the big killer , just like a comeout natural on the DP. So using a DC in lieu of a DP should be a wash , as I was explaining to a fellow don't player who plays a DC ; actually he plays three DCs per shooter. I told him that I may try seeing how a DC does for about 6 months of play which for me would be between 60 and 75 hours.
The 6 and 8 place bets are kind of new territory for me. In my early days of craps play , I did dabble with a handful of 6/8 place bets but not many. With my Darkside mentality and a very meager bankroll, I never felt comfortable with minimum rightside wagers on the felt, as I was explaining to another fellow player that presses the heck out of any place bet wins. When I told him that I may try a minimum 6/8 place bet , one hit and both bets down , he laughed and said, "Why play craps if you aren`t going to win money?"
Now that I have built up a larger bankroll , I can do more experimentation, within reason. The only problems I see Is table position and the ease of making a DC wager and working the dealer more than I normally do from taking down both place bets when either hit.
I may even get a few more comp dollars to purchase overpriced cigars ,whiskeys and martinis at the casinos.
Always been amused by the don't payoff..how the dealer moves the chips around the layout to pay you..like showing everybody what you did versus how they all lost their asses. I'll have $15 on the DC with a dollar yo..DC moves to the
8 and I throw $18 down and say $18 in back. Love it.
They do those moves to try and prevent employee/player collusion. If a dealer was cheating and shoving money out to his partner player, making it look like a lay or DC bet, security needs visual evidence of the trail that money took to see if it was a legit bet or not
As a side note - 80% of the "security" people they have watching the games don't even know the correct payout on a $6 six or eight. The camera is following the big money. When black action hits the tables the eyes are on the screen. When red or green action is on the table for the most part they could care less. They're too busy trying to figure out which loser at the blackjack game is counting cards.
DF I wouldn't be concerned about working the dealers more than you normally do. One hit and "place bets down" instruction to the dealer is not a lot of extra work. That's a lot more straightforward than some press moves people ask for.
It's their job, believe me, I have seen dealers so fast it looked like magic. What bother dealers are the odd bets, like a $8 six and eight.
They have to pay out $7 bucks on the $6 portion and $2 on the $2 portion (and the bettor says, "$1 for $10!!) Drives them nuts. Only the new break-in dealers get confused.

May give it a try for a couple of hours tomorrow before a trip to the hills next week. I hope I do not chicken out on the place bets. The last time I made a right side wager was probably in 2004 or 2005.
I shall buy in for $500 which will also be my loss limit. That is between 3 and 4% of my Total Gambling Bankroll. I shall use The Dice Doctors way of locking up winning chips while playing for my two or three hour trip. So I hope to play all the way through that buy in during the session.
If the session is less than 2 hours it will probably be a losing one. It should be a winner if it is closer to a three hour session.

I just looked in my 2004 gambling journal and I do believe that the last right side wager I made was at old,old Harrah's,which is now Resorts Casino in Nov. I was playing that night with Operator and his wife Wanda.It was interesting to see that my Total Gambling Bankroll at that time was a little over $2000.
