TedOU1 I used that strategy in Cherokee once and it worked out. I was up a few dollars. It took forever but as this board will agree, a win is a win.

I have been looking at a new strategy. I have been a right side bettor for 98% of my 30 years of Craps playing.
What is your thought on this?....
Playing the DP, then placing the 6 and 8 if the point is something else. Then my points are the 6/7/8.
Laying NO Odds on the Don't Pass.
Depending on the size of your bets - this is very similar to SIA's "One Hit - Can't Miss" play. With this play you bet the DP in multiples of $6. Let's say $30 for the sake of this example. Then, once the DP is established, you bet $30 each on the six and eight. You do this even if the point is six or eight. Now, if you get one hit on either the six or eight you are guaranteed a win for that hand. You just sit back and collect until the ugly number shows.

I take a slightly different approach, betting $25 on the DP and $12 each on the six and eight. It takes two hits to guarantee a win, but a quick seven out doesn't hurt you. I like to get a hit or two on the six or eight, then take them down and just wait for a decision on the DP. It's a trade off - either way if a fairly decent way to play.

Thanks, Heavy. I will be back in Vegas in two weeks to give it a shot.
I was also thinking (based on past experience) that the longer, harder
tables with non-dice setters would be a good place to try this DP method.

Happy Holidays!

I think on a randie the pass/ DP/ Place 6 or 8 all have equal chances to win (or lose) on variance alone

1) Firebet is one of the best bets to make and should be standard in craps.
2) Come bet (for those who place all the numbers) "Down with max odds" should also be standard in craps.
3) Doey/Don't on comeout w/Max odds in the back.
4) Hop Bets where available.
5) Hedging the 4th,5th,6th numbers in the firebet should also be standard in craps.

I'm going to disagree with ALMOST everything you said here.

1. The house edge is 24% on the Fire Bet. MOST players should never make that wager. DI's can overcome that edge if they understand how to lay off odds on the fifth and sixth numbers. But over all - if you tracked total dollars in and total dollars out - it's going to be a slow drain on the bankroll.

2. While mathematically Come betting is better than Place betting - to me having to deal with a contract bet on a number I may not want just isn't worth the small advantage I'd get by Come betting over Place betting - not to mention the fact that a Come bet number has to roll twice before I get paid.

3. The Doey Don't give you no statistical edge. You're paying the same vig over a larger total action. If you want to lay odds on the Don'ts - play the Don'ts.

4. Hop bets should be viewed as entertainment bets only unless you're hopping the reds as a hedge move. Even at that, there are lower cost ways to achieve the same thing.

5. Here's where agree with you. I like the idea of switching to the Don'ts after a person makes their 3rd number in the Fire. Why? Because they so rarely pay out on the fourth, fifth, and sixth hits.

Hadn't seen this thread before and enjoyed the read.

I am like Freak and quite like a parlay strategy on the come out 7 or 11.

1) The firebet does have a huge house advantage but they didn't think of the hedgers out there that use this bet as a profit tool.
2) I chose the "Come" bet as a favored bet only to those who place all the numbers along with the come bet. The winnings made from the place bet become free odds for your come bet making this a very good bet. But the actual favour is the "Last come get some" when the 7 rolls.

To quote irish
..
QUOTE:
"Actual Good bets

The above are good wagers

First ,let's agree any wager made in a casino is endangered to loss when the wager turns against you
The above are good wagers in that the HOUSE EDGE is lowest on these.

That said, there is still the House Edge ( or House Advantage) at whatever percentage (%)
...
The H. A. ( or edge) on the most common Proposition BETS printed on the felt is a steep hill to overcome
.....
The casino industry knows the percentages as the % is their stock in trade
......
In her book "Addiction By Design" Natasha Dow Schull she go to great detail dissecting
the HOUSE ADVANTAGE....related to slot machines...There is enough to take away that
may be applied to TABLE GAMES...........
......
The side wagers ( Carnival Bets ) up the percentage( % ) of the H A to degrees that
should frighten a PRUDENT PERSON.........
..
Were one to do a side comparison .................

Pass OR Don't Pass
Odds (Take or Lay)
Place 6/8
Buy 4/10 (especially if they take the vig on the back end)"

.........to the SIDE BETS in our area of interest ,CRAPS it would be EYE OPENING.

In a recent post,THE M.P. to the time and effort to post the odds related to the FIRE BET

There are available odds for all the Prop Wagers.

Since CRAPS is a game of negative expectations played by optimists ,I feel
any side by side comparative will be ignored..........

Heavy, interesting to see your thoughts above. . .

I once was a place better only. I have hit a really cold streak with my place betting (and I was probably not smart, following the rules I am learning on this forum, etc.). So, I became a PL, get odds, Come bet, follow with odds better.

In one sentence, you actually express what I liked better about the place bets. It is my bet, on my choice of number(s).

Well how come everytime I visit the casino and see this regular there with two full lines of 100.00 chips in his rack. I watch his play and notice he bets 300 hard 6 or 500 hard 10.

Just the other night he had max bet on hard 6 and the shooter rolls 3 hard sixes before the nasty 7 winning the guy over 30k in chips. does this make the "Hardways" a best bet because every visit to the casino, I see this guy always has racks full of black chips.

What you don't talk about is how much he bought in for and how many rebuys he has made. It is frequently the case that the guy at the table with the most chips is also the biggest loser. I watched a guy with a lot of chips in his rack lose $40K one night while I won just under $1K on the same hand. The difference? He was racing though his bankroll making hops and props. Do I play hops and props too? Sure. But I limit my action there - just as I limit my action on "entertainment" devices such as slots. When I play either I'm simply looking for a lightning strike. But I won't chase my losses down the rabbit hole hoping for a score. That is not the case with most prop bettors.

Please give up already. Like some else already said your betting strategies suck.

CrapsGenius - If you think a bet is good than play it in live play and see if it holds up. A $300 hard six is a great bet when a hard six rolls. If your bets work for you then play them. I have been though a lot of different strategies. Almost all of them worked...for a while. I've seen people win with a lot of different strategies. And I've seen every one of those strategies lose. I have learned in my very short career that there is merit in listening to the experienced voices on this site. Since finding Heavy and friends and reading Sam G. and John P. I feel a lot more secure about the plays I play in the casino. I know what I want to do before I walk in and I play my play. I know exactly how much risk I'll take and exactly the max I can lose. The plays don't usually win big but they almost always offer me a profit point if I can have the discipline to walk when I'm ahead. The biggest thing is I no longer lose big and that's huge if you love the game. If you're broke you can't play. I used to only get satisfaction from a big "lightening strike" score. Now I get my thrills by grabbing a few hits and being off when the devil rolls, slowly building to my win goal. Winning is great, but there's also a LOT of satisfaction in not losing.

TT I believe we are all novices every time we step up to a table we have never played on, or haven't played on for sometime. Our hours of practice work well on the practice rig, so when we visit a real casino we have to take what worked well for us at home and make the necessary adjustments on the casino table...this always take more time and money then we think it should...there is no guaranteed winning method which is guaranteed to win every time.

But when I am betting on another shooter I do like the 2 hits and down method, with this one small adjustment. Whatever the minimum bet is I place the sister number for roughly 3x that amount, just so you know I never play on tables where the minimum bet is over $25, same bet twice, but instead of taking it down I'll tell the dealer to make it look like $10/12. From here if the sister number keeps getting hit I just keep pressing it up until the shooter 7s out or the point is made. You win, not a fortune, but you have more $$$ in your pocket than what you started out with, and isn't this the reason we play? Betting $30 on the 6, you 7 out and you are $30 down, 1 hit and 7 out you are a $5 winner, 2 hits then reduced the $30 to $12, you 7 out and you are a $58 winner. Do we unintentionally make simple things more complicated? A big "Hell Yeah" we do! At least I seem to do
