Do you have a "guilty pleasure" bet?

Do you have a bet you know is horrible and a bankroll killer, but you make it anyway? I have all but quit playing the "Fire" bet because I started to realize that even seeing 50-75 hands played out a night without hitting even a four pointer and at $2-$5 a try it was bleeding my wins away or making my losses that much worse.

Having said that I think I'm making a bet (or series of bets) that is probably worse. There is, however, a reason.

I think I have mentioned on here before that I saw a guy throw either 14 or 16 tens in a hand. The reason I even know that is because a younger guy walked up to the table with two red chips to his name and tried to bet the ten but the dice were out and the dealer no-bet him. The toss was a ten and the kid said he would wait till the next shooter. As one ten after another started to show up we decided to keep track. One of those was on the come-out roll and another was a point conversion, but it's reasonable to think he would have been on the point conversion toss so he would have been on 12 of those tens at least (not counting the one he was no-bet). Without pressing he would have picked up $216 for a $10 bet.

Since then I have decided that I would bet the ten every time for $10 and press to $25 on the first hit. In PA where I play it is an automatic buy at that point and you only pay vig on wins. My plan is to double the bet each hit until I get to the table limit of $3000 (8th hit) picking up half each time along the way and finally hitting the $3000 for $8850 and down!

Imagine had it been on that roll I mentioned earlier and you just let it play out. You would have picked up $5850 4 times before losing the $3000 on the table (a trade I hope to make one day).

So far I have gotten as far as five hits or $400 on the board when the seven out hit. Sadly I am going on over a year of trying this. The number of time I have gotten one hit is incredible. Continuing to turn $10 into $3 is just a bad idea, but I can't stop myself from doing it.

You?

My favorite when a hardway has already shown itself, is betting the 6 and 8 hard for $10, then pressing a hit to $50..

It sure is a hard on when it hits !!

Not for me, I guess.
Other than the $1 or $2 Fire Bet there aren't really other bets that I do consistently. However, I'm going to start a "see a horn, bet the field" thing just for kicks. I haven't played in a very long time and I'm still figuring out a way to keep track of how that does in the long run. That'll be my adrenaline bet :)

I don't make any of these bets consistently, but I will toss out a buck on the 12 occasionally. I've rolled 12's back to back in practice at home, but never live. That would be a awesome parlay. I'd never be in on it though, I apply Heavy's motto to that bet, "take the money and run".

Sometimes I'll take down my bets and throw a nickel on the Any 7... win or lose it always gets a response from other players.

I've been trying to ween myself off of it. It hasn't been paying off as of late. When I am shooting on the come-out I like a $5 World. I had been managing to toss several 7s mixed with multiple crap numbers before the point. I would press the World conservatively only $5 on each hit. Hitting Boxcars or Snake Eyes with the World pressed up to $30 gets the blood pumpin'. I don't bet it on the RR's.

Gentlemen,

There is nothing that can top the purity of the Hop Bet on the 7. Believe.

On the come out when I'm shooting for horn numbers I'll toss in a $5 three-way craps, high on the Hi-Lo

On randies I sometimes hop 7's on the come out $1 ea. Parlay the first hit, Press the second.

Up until a month ago, I had a discipline of <2% H/E bets only.

I decided to made a few changes; pendulum->deck, hardway set->2V, & betting the 'All's' $2-2-2.

I'm more than pleased w/the results, not looking back; hitting small or tall 4x total from my last 3 outings. However, I still respect the math of the game. The craziest I get besides the All's is placing 5/9 at nickel tables. Auto-pilot come betting is the preference.

Just like a lot of marriages I have seen, it will be. At first it's glorious, seems like nothing can go wrong and you have no idea what you did to deserve such great fortune.

Then, one day you turn around and it owns half of everything you had and is gone......
