My recent strategy and a statistical anomaly, maybe...

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

My recent strategy and a statistical anomaly, maybe...

So I have finally decided on a strategy that works for my playing style, goals and bankroll. I say that because not every strategy fits everyone's playing "needs" and it took me a while to figure that out.

I am playing a $15 DP only, for the most part. If the come out is a box number I let it play out and parlay the first win each time. You might be surprised how many times the DP line wins four in a row so I've been tempted to go 15/30/60 then $120 and down, but I haven't yet.

If the come out is a 7/11 I put out a $20 DP line bet and $1 each on the hop 7's, 11, 12 so I have $40 invested at that point. On another 7/11 come out I let them pay me the $16 and down and start over with my $15 DP line bet.

I parlay any 2,3 come out winner as well as the first 7-out winner each time.

Now even I get bored with that so I allow myself a $12 6&8 bet if the come out is a 4/10. I've seen some long rolls that hit a lot of 6/8 without making the 4/10. I put down $20 odds on the 4/10 DP and the 6/8 bets.

That's it, not much to it but it's been working for me and accomplishes my goal of getting some playing time, not losing much and a chance at winning at least something along the way.

Now, here is where the stats take a bend for the unusual for me. I also allow myself a "walkaway" bet of $100 outside. If I am getting to the point I need to go to protect winnings or cut losses it means the table is heating up so I give it one last go with the $100 outside bet. I pick up a bet and press a bet, pick up, press and so on. At least that is the plan. I've seen some rolls just kill those outside numbers and the payoff is exceptional (for my play level at least). The problem is I am up to eleven, yes, ELEVEN times in a row of not picking up a number during that bet. Not all of them were PSO's, some were probably 8-9-10 rolls long always hitting the horn or 6/8.

I'm not crying, nor am I changing my "walkaway" bet, am I out of line thinking 11 times in a row of not hitting one number a bit out of line with the normal pace of things?

I also get two match play coupons a month from the casino, I have lost 8 straight on those.

When I turn those streaks around I'm gonna make it rain!

Anyway, have a good day everyone.

Interesting strategies and patterns. If you can't get the dice inyour hands quickly, not a bad way to play on the darkside. I would suggest you consider learning how to deal with being bored and either drop the 6 & 8 action. From my experience playing both ways at the same time is like a turbocharged hedge. Yeah it can work at times but it seems like it will mostly not and you end up with $1.

Dylanfreak would like your 'cowtippin" type parlay action.

I do like the walkaway bet. You might consider a stop loss on the rolls. 4-5 rolls and no hit is a take me down trigger. Just wait for the next shooter to try again.

Good Luck

If you have not read MP's most excellent articles on "Dodging bullets on the Darkside", you might be enlightened on dodging bullets on the darkside. It is located in the archives of the DiceInstitute board or maybe MP will post a link. I am sure a lot of the newer folks have not read them and they are an eyeopener.
There are Q and A articles that are companion pieces.

Both streaks continue, 12 "walkaway's" in a row in the toilet and 9 straight match play coupons.

Is there some sort of voodoo attached to those match play coupons they send out? WTF?

Hi AtGame7,

That $100 'walkaway' Outside-bet that you are making at the end of each session; is it on your shooting or on just another random-rollers hand?

Thanks,

MP

Random shooter, but I am a random shooter so it really wouldn't make a difference IMO.
