Ever press LESS than a full unit?

L and I are gearing up for our long awaited week in Vegas. We have our envelopes all ready to go. On our bankroll we'll need to find a lot of $5 tables and limit our play on $10 - $15 tables. In practice at home I almost always use a regression play after a few hits and then press up and out. I typically practice at a $10 or $15 level. But if I play a $5 minimum that means that a one unit press is doubling my bet. I got to thinking the other day about the possibility of pressing less than a full unit. For example pressing my $6 eight to $9. That would pay $10. I could go $64 across, regress to $22 inside after 2 hits. Then next hit press the hitting number to either $8 or $9 to pay me $10. Or maybe press the 6 & 8 to $9 each. Ok, Ok I know the extra dollars only pay even money, but it seems similar to placing less than max odds behind the PL. Max odds is always best advantage-wise but worst volatility-wise. Pressing an $18 eight up to $24 only re-invests about 1/3 of the win. That feels like a reasonable reinvestment while racking a portion. A one unit press on a $5 table is a full press and feels pretty aggressive percentage wise even though it's only $6. So does anyone have any thoughts on scaling down the press amounts on a $5 table to be more similar percentage wise to amounts we reinvest when we press our $15 - $25 bets?

I would not go that route. If money is tight simply reduce the number of sessions you play, which will give you a larger per session bankroll. I want to caution you and all of our seminar attendees about spending too much time at the tables and over-betting your bankroll. I can assure you that you won't be happy with the end result.
