Interesting Horn Strategy

We had the family and some friends over for an Easter Feast, and of course, after dinner there was a request to get the craps table working. OK, so the request was by me, but a request is a request.
There were 7 shooters, and I was on stick, so we had a cozy group in my little craps room. Good thing we turned on the fan as it was 70 degrees, and I had a lot of lights on.
Anyway, each shooter started with $200 in chips and $5Bill started off the action with a very long hand, testing out his new set. Most of the players were under betting him, but as the hand went longer, my nephew Steven (Who is the son of my Field Posse betting Brother) started putting more and more chips out. When Steven got the dice to shoot he set the x6 set and bet $25 on the horn. The call was Yo, and I paid him $87, next throw Yo again, I paid him again, and he pressed to $50. Next throw was aces, I paid him $337. That was the end of the horn numbers, but he went on to have a very nice hand, and was building himself a nice win. After a couple more shooters, my cousin in law Jim got the dice and also set them on x6 set .
Steven threw out a $100 horn, and the call was Twelve. I paid him $675. The next toss was a seven, then Steven threw out a $100 chip on the 12. Next toss- 12!!!. Holy cow, I paid him $3000. Next toss was a 7, and he tossed me a $500 chip for the 12. Jim rolled a twelve! Thats a $15,000 payoff.
By this time, he had something like $20K in his rack, starting out with a very pedestrian $200.
I know Heavy works his CO game for good profit, but I still can't believe what I saw today. I keep thinking that there is a lesson here, that there is a betting strategy out there to capitalize on the 30 to 1 payouts, w/o being eaten up alive with the vig.
He was just screwing around, and eventually ended up broke on a series of all or nothing bets, but that doesn't take anything away from the $20K that he made in the 45 minutes we were playing. Comments?
