passline bet, come bets, dont pass, and dont come bets
i recently watched a dvd BEATING THE ODDS. simple things like $5 passline bet $10 odds ($15)at risk point 5 or 9. if you hit the point you win $20. place bet 5 or 9 for $15 and the 5 or 9 hit you win $21. one is a contract bet and one you can take down. dont pass and dont come bets are exposed to the 7 and 11. pay the vig and lay the number. the only reason for passline or dont pass if you want to shoot. very good and interesting dvd.advdel77
Re: passline bet, come bets, dont pass, and dont come bets
After all these years of playing craps I have recently gave up on place bets pretty much 100%. The pass line and up to 3 come bets with odds is the strongest strategy for me by far, it isn't even close.
1) When my toss is on I throw a lot of repeaters. With come bets, I end up with more money on the numbers that are hitting and nothing on "dead" numbers. Even though I have a few dice combinations which are dominate, I often go through short spells of 40, 50 or more tosses where I throw repeaters but not the normal repeaters. With come bets I don't have to sweat that issue any more.
2) My PSO exposure and losses are greatly reduced even though I am making larger bets per number than I was when betting across.
3) Since I throw a lot of repeaters it is hard to get 4 bets on the table. My total exposure is reduced even though I am betting larger per number now.
4) Getting a pass line bet, 3 come bets out and then a 7 out happens far fewer times than a point seven out after betting across which equals lower losses when you are off.
For years I believed that place bets were the way to go because you miss that first payoff with come bets. I have found beyond a shadow of a doubt that long term the PSO's and higher house edge on place bets more than wipes out that first hit. Day to day results will vary of course.

I got a bit more out of the Beating The Odds D V D than debating the Contract Bet Vs The Place Wager discussion
...After I spoke with Marvin Goldstein , the author, I ordered the book that predates the refinements he incorporated into the D V D....
( The book is out of print..Marvin graciously put together a copy for me)
..
Out of respect for Marvin Goldstein's Intellectual Property
I prefer to not go deeper into it..
Marvin Goldstein permits Heavy to offer the program instructional D V D
at a deep discount ......
....Those interested may wish to invest in the "Beating the Odds" D V D...
I find it worth owning .
just me saying
