Getting data

I've noticed a lot of people keep "data" how do you track what all was rolled and how long? do you write it in a notebook? The bets etc? Do the pit crews not care? Does it slow the game up at all?

Charting is Great as long as you don't mind looking like a Nerd. I even use a 4 color pen, (Black) Box Numbers, (Blue) HW's, (Green) Horn, (Red) DuH.

I have a very good memory for these things and can pretty much recount all of my bets, presses, toss results, etc. at the end of a hand. I've tried writing rolls down and it's okay. I even teach it in the betting strategy classes. I also teach students to track using chips in the rack, which is also pretty easy to do. I think you'll find about as many answers to this one as there are players. I will say that in some markets the pit doesn't like you to put your charting notebook/sheet on the chip rack. They want them to go under the rail. Makes it a little awkward for recording rolls.

I always record my own rolls, blame it on my OCD, and I have never had an issue doing so. I find pit crews couldn't give two sh!ts about it. I got the occasional remark/jab about it, but nothing to complain about. As a matter of fact I get more grief from other players, obviously all from random rollers/chicken feeders. It takes less than a second to write a number down, you can do it while other players are getting paid out so not to worry about slowing down the game.

I record on a Baccarat or Roulette scorecard and write down after each roll (after I seven out) whether it resulted in a profit or not and how much. I also note if any individual toss was bad and what was the most likely culprit, e.g. grip, missing landing zone, etc... I later transfer the info to my excel workbook at home for further analysis.

Ah, thanks all, I might give that a try since I'm so new to the game
