Pass and don't pass to just play odds

Ok what am I missing? I play the pass and dont pass at the same time. So they cancel each other out. I also throw a craps down on the come out to protect that 12.
With this bet, I am only playing the pass line odds and winning more for less risk. If I have 5 on pass and don't pass, and 10 on the odds, I'm risking 10. If I have 5 on pass and 5 on odds, I'm risking 10. If the point hits, I win more with my 10 odds hand.
Am I seriously missing something??
It is more relavent with higher bets.
25 on pass and don't pass. 100 in back. 100 at risk
25 on pass and 75 in back. 100 at risk.
10 point wins 1st hand 200. 2nd hand wins only 175

By making a Don't Pass wager at the same time that you are making a Pass Line wager , you are giving away an 8:4 advantage that the pass line wager has on the comeout roll. To make that an even worse bet combination , you are adding an any craps wager that adds an additional 11.11 % disadvantage onto the player. You are doing all that wagering and increasing the house edge just to make an odds wager that has no house edge, which could be made for the price of a Pass Line wager that is at a disadvantage of 1.41% after the comeout.

The only real benefit I can see from a doey-don't would be the ability to switch your odds over from one side to another.
You may for example give the shooter 3 or 4 rolls to make the pass then switch to don't pass odds. Alternatively you may feel if you are on don't pass odds and the shooter doesn't 7 out quickly, then this may indicate they have a good rhythm going and may have a longer than average hand, in which case you can move over to having pass odds as the hand lengthens.
Regardless, there is no doubt if you do $5 on the pass and $5 on the DP then you are doubling the money you are putting up against the HA as Irish has already stated.

The killer for wagering the Doey-Dont is the number 12. If the number 12 was not a push on the Don't Pass only fools would play the Pass Line unless they were superhuman shooters.

The other killer in the doey don't is that most casinos will you as a $0 or $1 bettor, so you just killed any comp offers you might have in the works. I suggest you find a game you can afford - play the smallest Pass or Don't Pass bet you can (table minimum) and then take or lay as much as your bankroll will bear in odds.
