Just getting back to the forum to say hi. It's been a bit since I posted, work has been crazy. Hope everyone is having a nice summer and killing at the tables.

I've got a question for you all. My wife and I are planning a trip to Reno and will be staying at the Atlantis from the 7th - 10th in July. I typically buy the 4 and 10 but was thinking about possibly trying out buying the 5 and 9 instead as I have been throwing more 5's and 9's lately. Has anyone done this? Is there an advantage to buying the 5 and 9 over placing it?

It's going to depend on the casinos attitude toward buying the five and nine and the breakage. It's generally to your advantage to buy it if they'll collect the vig on the win and not in advance. Let's just go with a $20 bet. If you Buy the nine for $20 and pay $1 vig up front you have $21 exposure. If the bet loses you lose the entire $21. But if they collect the juice on the win it only loses $20. It will lose more often than it will win, so that's a plus for you.

When it wins it pays $30 minus the $1 vig - or $29. Conversely, a $20 Place bet on the nine pays $28. So there's your advantage. It continues to multiply as the bets grow larger.

I am also going to Reno at the end of July and then to Lake Tahoe anyone know the current table minimums.
