How do you "back up" your hard way bets?

I need some ideas for replenishing hard way bets... I use a 64-55 set and focus on the H4/10s. I'm on a $15 table. I've been booking $130/135 Across and regressing to 78/81 Across after two hits. This allows a $15 bet on the Place 4 and P10. If I lost a $5 H4 or H10 bet to a soft 4/10, I'd just replenish it from the Place bet payoff (and take the P4 or P10 to $25).
Lately since a dice tossing tune-up, I'm betting $25 on the P4 and P10 at the start (with the Inside numbers @ the minimums) because I'm getting better at hitting the 4/10s. When I hit the H4/10 @ $25, I'll pay the $75 to push that specific HW number $100, and rack up $100. I leave the Place bet at $25 (I take the whole $49 payoff). My thinking is, I'll "lock" $150 for the H4 I just hit and with no monetary impact to my rack, I'm lurking for a $700 payoff--and if a soft 4 kills my HW bet, I'll use the P4 $50-for-1 payoff to replenish the empty H4 slot with a $50 bet.
I've only stayed on the table a couple times after the $100 H4 or H10 has hit. My plan for when the $100 H4 hits is to press the H4 to $150 and the Place 4 to $75--but it's just a plan. Usually I just turn everything off and color up.
Recently, as I reported in another thread, I hit multiple H4/10s and pressed them from 100, 150, 200, 300, but I didn't have a real plan for skimming HW winnings to press my Place bets. My only thinking took me to betting about half the HW amount on each Place 4/10 so I could recoup enough to replace the lost HW bet in total. That plan doesn't profit at all from a soft 4/10 and I wonder how you'd bet so that that omission isn't built in.
So this is me asking all ya'll for a plan of aggression to see what might be the best way to run a tandem between HWs and Place bets as the HW bet grows (IF you actually wanna protect it with your Place bet).
Thank you, Guys!
