It just occurred to me that I never talk about the private lessons I do here at the home craps pit here on the forum. I mention them all the time over on the Facebook private pages and from time to time in the Newsletters, but never here. Well, let's change that.

I've had quite a few folks in for private lessons in the last couple of months. Most recent? Today. A couple of gents flew down from Tulsa to Tyler, then grabbed an Uber out to my place and we did a five hour private lesson. My typical private lesson for one person runs three-and-a-half to four hours, so in this case I just added an additional hour of time for this father/son pair and gave them a "couples" rate.

In this case, as expected, "dad" was the more advanced player while "son" was eager to learn. But both were relatively new t dice influence, having read what I'd consider to be the wrong books and watched the wrong videos on YouTube to learn anything worthwhile. I worked with them first on betting, as they both had a shortfall in knowledge in that department. We covered correct odds, payouts, etc. on the various bets and some basic press moves I liked and why. There were some I'd have liked to have gone over with them in greater detail, but due to time constraints - after reviewing a play twice I had to fall back on "it's in your book, so review it when you get home to solidify it in you memory."

We worked right up until lunch, then took a break for BBQ, beans, potato salad, cole slaw, fresh tomatoes and cukes, and ice cold Arnold Palmer iced tea. Sorry boys. No dessert. After lunch we started working on tossing from various table positions - SL1, SR1, and Straight Out. I worked with "dad" first and in short order his toss was looking very good. Once I felt like he had a solid grip and toss we started tracking rolls. Right off the bat he tossed a 45 number hand. Legit shooter. I'd bet on his hand any day - and NOW I know which numbers to bet on when he's shooting.

His son struggled a bit more. Like me, he has fingers that don't fit on the dice as well as skinny people's fingers. The dice just disappear in his grip. It's difficult for big guys to get a good grip sometimes just because they have so much skin contact with the dice. He struggled at SL1 so I moved him straight out, which usually works best for big guys, and I BELIEVE he will eventually work into becoming a straight out shooter, but it just wasn't jelling today, so we moved to SR1 and he finally started catching some hands. The roll consistency was there and we saw repeating numbers and longer hands. Not anywhere near the length of his dad's 45 number monster - but decent enough.

Before we knew it we'd not only done our 5 hours, but run 30 minutes over. I told them the extra half hour was on me, since I didn't charge them for the half hour break for lunch, which was also on me. Shortly after the Uber driver showed up and they were off to the airport, already talking about planning their next visit out to the hacienda. Great time for everyone.

If you'd like some dedicated one-on-one time with me and don't want to go through the whole group class thing - a private class with me at my home near Tyler, Texas is the best way to go. A 4 hour class is $499. That's my most popular class. I have other options available if you want more time or less, but seldom does anyone choose less. If you have questions you can always email me at axispowercraps@gmail.com and put "private lessons" in the subject line. Thanks.

For those of you who didn’t get the word – we ended up canceling the planned Massachusetts Craps Seminar this month due to what I’ll politely call “under-enrollment.” That left a huge blank spot in my calendar for June, and I didn’t have anything planned but staying out of the heat in July. Now it looks like I’m going to have to get busy and book a bunch of private lessons for the early Summer so I can keep the dogs fed, the bride in salads and popcorn, the daughter in Diet Coke and air, and myself in cigars and vodka. So, I’ve cranked up a Summertime Sale on Private Classes here at Casa Heavy now through the middle of August, when I head up to NYC to catch the big boat to Bermuda for Craps Cruise 9. Here’s the deal on those Summer Classes.

Our Most Popular Class!

4-hour Private One-on-One Lesson on Basic to Intermediate Craps, Betting and Dice Control - $499

SUMMERTIME SPECIALS!

5-hour Friends, Spouses and Significant Others Private Lesson for Two on Basic to termediate Craps, Betting and Dice Control at Heavy’s Craps Pit in East Texas! Includes Lunch - $799 for TWO – not per person!

5-hour One-on-One Private Lesson on Dice Control and Advanced Betting Strategies at Heavy’s Craps Pit in East Texas! – Includes Lunch - $599

Classes available in East Texas 7 days a week by appointment only. Class Times start at either 9AM, 10AM, or 1PM. Email Heavy direct at axispowercraps@gmail.com to book. The schedule is currently wide open through August 15th.

If you are looking for private lessons in Vegas or Biloxi – we conduct these classes in a casino dealer school or on a private table on authentic casino craps tables. You and up to six of your friends can take over the school for the day for the full Axis Power Craps private seminar – including Heavy’s TrendMaster/Power Press Betting Class as a special bonus! That’s 8 hours of group time with Heavy. Price includes dealer school rental and a pizza lunch delivered to the school. $1395 per person with a four-player minimum. Add a live casino session with Heavy for just $299 per person more with a four-player minimum. A 45-day advanced reservation is required to ensure availability of the dealer school.

If you have a private table in your home and would prefer to take a class on it - private lessons are available for you as well. Final cost will depend on your location and travel expenses incurred relative to the class. A private Axis Power Craps class, including Heavy’s TrendMaster Betting Strategy training for you and up to five of your friends will likely run around $995 per person with a four-person minimum. Final price will be determined at time of registration.

Please note: Vegas and Biloxi classes are available on weekends only due to casino dealer school availability, and must be booked a minimum of 45 days in advance so we can book the dealer school. Need more details? E-mail Heavy direct at axispowercraps@gmail.com with the Subject line: Private Lessons for an immediate response. Or you can reach me by TEXT at 903-258-8759. Heads up. I do not answer calls from phone numbers without Caller ID, so if you’re not in my personal directory your call will most likely ring to voice mail. It’s always best to Text me or Email me before calling. Please call during normal business hours only.

Private lesson makes a great birthday or anniversary present and are great if you’re ramping up for an upcoming trip to Vegas. It would also make a great Father’s Day gift at this time of year.

Added benefit – if you attend a private lesson with me then attend one of my live seminars later down the road you will qualify for the Alumni Tuition Rate for the Live Seminar, saving you hundreds of dollars off the cost of the big class – almost paying for the cost of the private class in savings.

Sign on today.

Sir,
Do you or do you know of anyone that offers classes on the Gulf coast (New Orleans, Biloxi, Mobile) area? I am a single parent now and can't really be gone overnight to attend any overnight training or seminars and what not. I think I mainly need some critiquing on grip form and toss. I have had good rolls at the casino but it seems the more I practice the worse I get, literally! Starting to think those were lucky random rolls and I just happen to be setting the dice at the time.

I was fortunate to have a private lesson with Heavy at his home on August 5th. I live between Houston and Galveston and drove up for the lesson. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much but I've always been interested in dice setting and maybe being able to influence the dice some.
I've been a baccarat player for many years and have always done fairly well. No huge losses and no huge wins but I didn't enjoy sitting at the table and we'll leave it at that.

Driving up Heavy's driveway, he was perched on his porch smoking a cigar and drinking coffee. I thought to myself, "this is my kind of guy!" I wasn't wrong. We talked about everything under the sun when it came to craps and a few other topics. It was the quickest 6 hours ever. He taught me how to grip the dice, how to throw the dice, and where to land the dice from the three different positions on the table. Along with other things pertaining to the wrist and thumb etc. I could immediately see this was where I belonged, and this was the right guy for me.
I enjoyed the lesson so much that I returned home, searched for a 12' table, and found one outside Houston. I then partitioned part of the garage, added a/c. and went to work. That day after leaving Heavy's house, I made a commitment that I would take the rest of the year (4 months) practice every day and return to the casinos in January 2024. So far, I've kept that commitment but it's not easy. Some days I think I made an expensive mistake but the good days out way the bad. So far, I've tossed five 720 books and one 1440 on Bone Tracker and I'm definitely seeing improvement.
I'm a pretty quiet person and don't post much on forums but I thought it was important to share my experience. So, if you're at that crossroads, as I was this might help.
Thanks to my new friend Heavy for his encouragement and coaching!

Thanks for the kind words, Judge. Once you're seeing some consistency in those BoneTracker books we should do a deep dive analysis and see what we can come up with via the Coaster Charts as far as any dice set tweaks that might improve your overall results. Meanwhile, keep working on the FUN-damentals.

April was a full schedule of private classes here at Casa Heavy in East Texas with six individual classes and two couples classes. All that and we squeezed in that Rollin' on the Red weekend in Shreveport mid-month. Whew. It's enough to wear an old dog out. But May is right on top of us and it's time to get busy. I'll get this month's newsletter wrapped up over the next couple of days, then we'll get right back to it.

I have a class booked this Friday, but Saturday and Sunday are available if anyone is interested. Of course, I'm available just about any weekday. I'll also be available Friday and Saturday, the 10th and 11th. Sorry, I'll be hanging out with the bride on Mother's Day, and heading out to Vegas the following week for the May seminar out there.

Should any of you be interested in that class - it's looking like it's going to be a small one, so there'll be plenty of one-on-one time with yours truly if you decide to join in. I'll tell you up front that hotel rooms are tight in Vegas that weekend and you'll probably have to look off-strip or even go the private hotel or airbnb or vrbo route. It is what it is. Vegas, baby.

If you're interested in any of the above you can always reach out to me at axispowercraps@gmail.com, but time it running short.

We're already well into LAST CALL time for Vegas.

Summertime and we're still booking craps classes.
Dice are smokin' . . .
And the chips are stacked high.

Oh, man. I feel like queuing up some Ella Fitzgerald today. Maybe she'd cool things down around here. Or maybe I just need some cool crapsters to book a tune up or a betting strategy class or just a complete overhaul of their game! Yeah, that's what I'm talking about! Come on in and be my friend. I mowed the grass day before yesterday so you don't have to wade through any tall weeds and dodge the copperheads to get to the front door. Besides, them copperheads ain't that big this year anyway. LOL.

Well, enough tomfoolery. Time to get serious. I'd planned on booking a couple of small craps classes - three on one classes this month. Advertised them in the newsletters and sent them out to around 4000 people. Nobody interested, I suppose. I guess everyone's toss is spot on. Either that or Tyler, Texas is just too far away from wherever they live to make the trip worthwhile in their mind. Yeah, that extra $100 in gas compared to that $2500 in losses at the table over the next few months. I understand not needing a tune up. Not wanting to HEAR old Heavy say what he's going to say when you tell him how you've been betting. Not hearing him SAY what you know he's going to say when he sees your toss. You'd THINK all of that guilt would tell you something. But you have that crap between your ears to deal with. I get it. Been there. I'll admit it. Even NOW, when I get together with the rest of my coaching staff, we take time before a class to toss a few and look at each other's tosses and say, "You notice anything that's slipped into my toss that shouldn't be there? Am I doing anything wrong? Finger alignment okay? Wrist straight? Arm traveling straight down the line? Dice flying straight to the back wall? Because everybody needs a second opinion sometime - preferably from someone who knows what they're talking about. That's all.

Well, I'm available pretty much seven days a week - the perils of being retired from everything except craps seminars, cruising, and household chores like carrying out the trash and keeping the snakes away from the porch. Occasionally mowing and running the poop patrol to remove the dog crap and toss it into the neutral zone over between me and the neighbors.

So, if you're in the area and looking for a toss tune up, here's the deal:

If you are looking for a private craps lesson to sharpen your skills, I'm available for sessions in my East Texas Craps Pit. A private lesson makes a great birthday or anniversary present and his highly recommended if you’re ramping up for an upcoming trip to Vegas, Atlantic City, or any casino resort or cruise.
