Strategic planning assistance request

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

Strategic planning assistance request

Post by rscott7 » Tue May 13, 2025 9:12 am

Background: Retired. Decided to get more serious (18) months ago. Took a couple of classes from Heavy @ his East Texas site, joined this forum (very helpful) been to Biloxi, Vegas, RCL & Celebrity cruises and Winstar in Oklahoma. So far so good, in the Green$$. Session buy in $700. $400 loss limit.
Have a practice lab, Bonetracker entries of over (6) books and 4000+ practice rolls with SRR 8+.

Need to do better: Start of session with unknown shooters, usually will do $12-18 6/8, OHCM, would really like to add "paint to the brush" early with gains to bankroll instead of $100+ losses before getting the dice.

Strategies from you forum posters I like to use:
- 6/8 progression/regression (Heavy)
- $66 inside
- $204 across (2 hit regress to $96) use 220Inside progression schedule
- $96 across (220Inside)
- $220 inside regress after (2) hits to $110 after (1-2) hits to $66 inside with progression
- $25-50 OHCM

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey rscott7,

First thing, find less populated tables. I will not buy into a table that has more than 3-4 players (for me usually less), and will move on if it fills.
Either that or do not bet on randies....That is difficult thing to do.
OHCM is a great tool...As you know, it does not always work.

Another one is by a guy named 'Crappy'
Each randie gets four bullets...A bullet is a unit..It could be a green chip, or what ever. This limits your down side to four bullets or 100 dollars.
First bet, Dont pass, second, Come bet, third, come bet, fourth bet DC. It is a grind, however pretty safe. Get details on you tube ..Crappy the Crapsman...

Anything like this is a system, and any system has its flaws. Always be ready to adjust your play to the gaming conditions. I never let a system totally determine my play.

I concur with a lot of memo's reply, especially with regard to play on random shooters and the number of them at the table if you really cannot find less populated tables.

Finding less populated tables may likely require shifting the times that you elect to go play. For my local casinos, I've pretty much stopped trying to navigate the randy infested waters of weekend play. I limit my playing times to midweek nights these days as much as possible unless it's part of a planned meetup with other shooters.

This becomes even more important if you're looking to up your initial outlay strategy to some of the suggested ones that you mentioned. You're seriously undercapitalized with your initial buy in amount and desired play level. Which means that you'll need to curtail your desire to bet on other shooters that much more and it becomes harder and harder to resist that urge as the table conditions become more crowded.

Given your current buy in level, my first thought would be to ditch all of the across based strategies, which I've never been a fan of to begin with. Transition to something along the lines of either inside or even numbers based strategy or even something more basic like a higher 6/8 focused one. This will give you a little more breathing room in bumping up your initial bet levels without having to essentially empty your rack to do so. Whatever strategy you do settle on, be sure to tailor your set selection to optimize your edge on the numbers that you choose to focus on. Bone Tracker can help you with this.

Totally agree with 220I. I never bet across. Not on me, not on other DI, and especially not on randies. Since I'm Bonetracking I know what might be my choices, so bet them. Betting all six across dilutes your bankroll and basically says " I have no idea what's coming". Use you ammo where you have an advantage. Even for DI's I know, I load up on their numbers, Like for 220I - I know he's an inside specialist and is so consistent that I will accelerate my pressing schedules when he hits inside numbers.

Plus, as Heavy says press the numbers that are hitting.

Keep Bonetracking, as my dad says "Knowledge is Power".

PS OHCM is always a first thought for any play on randies, N8

You have a good set of tools; Have you considered building in another tool that includes Dont play ? Generally only 40% of shooters make the first point and there are entire days when the best one can get is 7-8 rolls on a table
I love early morning play because there are only 2-3 other shooters at the table. Sometimes one does not have a choice and the table is crowded. In that case figure out who has the hot hand and who is shooting like the casino paid him to shoot and adjust play accordingly.

Dig deeper into BoneTracker on tab five, which is where you'll find your 24 sets with your highest SRR. Look for the highest SRR sets with the most number of hits on the numbers that give you the best payoff. It's rare that you'll see one that will give you both Sixes and Eights. The numbers with the big payoffs will be highlighted in PINK. Look for sets with two numbers highlighted in PINK. Disregard the ones with PINK on the 2, 3, 11, 12 unless you plan to play Crapless. Let's say you find one that gives you good results on the Six and Ten. Practice with that set and verify that you do, indeed, have those numbers as dominants with that set. Then, when you get to the table, instead of betting something lie $66 inside or $66 even numbers, Place or Buy most of your action on those two numbers for greater return on investment from the get go. Say $30 on the Six and a $30 Buy on the Ten. Or $24 on the Six, $25 Buy on the Ten, and take the remaining $17, add a buck to it and Place the Eight for $18. That plus your Pass Line Bet. If the Six or Ten is the point, load up on Free Odds. Bounce that sucker right back. My point is, use BoneTracker to help you determine your Dominant Numbers with your best sets, then use those sets to your advantage when you have the dice. When those other players have the dice - stick with something simple. One Hit Can't Miss or just place the Six and Eight for $24 each, one hit and regress to table minimum - either $12 or $18 - to reduce your exposure. Take the next hit. Then either come down on both and wait for the next shooter or go up a unit on every hit after that. Plan a second regression after you get a hit at $30 - down to $18 each. Press up and out from there if the hand continues. Any time you fell like the hand is getting long in the tooth - turn your bets off or take them down.
