question for the experts on what is a no roll

question for the experts here;

I was playing craps last week, the dark side for a litltle bit. Shooter rolls the dice, one dice lands and its a 5,the other is tilted a little and the stick person waits a second or two and looks at it, and quietly says "7" (it was a 2 that was tilted). Nobody says a word. I loudly say 7 out ! She called it a seven! Then the pit boss who was just quiet says no roll!! Shooter got dice again and of course eventually I lost. Was this legal??

To the best of my knowledge, it is a no roll, if :

1. One or both the dice lands in the bank
2. One or both the dice land outside the table.

In your case, it should have been a "7".
But as per most of the casino rules, the pit boss' word is final.
You don't really have a say unless you are one of those high rollers who are flew in, in a charetered flight

I've had a leaner 7 called against me before as well. An old dealer addage is "tippers win all arguments" my guess is someone was tipping well during that roll and they didn't want it to end.

Regarding leaners - the call should go based on what number would be "up" if the object the die is leaning on was removed. Example - if the dice are cocked up against the flat part of the back wall - what number would be up if the wall weren't there?

In the real world - the box man has great latitude in calling these things and will call them as they see fit. If you disagree with the call you can dispute it and ask for a floor person and a review of the tape if the dice have already been raked in. Even a few days after the fact - you can write a letter to the casino manager explaining what happened, which table it happened on and what time of day it occurred - asking him to review the tapes. I've done that in the past and ended up getting paid plus comped to the steak house. Hey, it's like chicken soup - it can't hurt.

Per Heavy...Real world for me this morning at 4:30am at my local boat. "The box man has great latitude"

Second toss. I am on the dont pass with a $10 flat bet. Dice on the other end. Shooter coming at my end. Only 3 players at the table..
Shooter picks up dice. Shake, Rattle and Roll. Not quite. One dice is tossed the length of the table. The second dice literally dropped straight down on the table.

I am looking at the shooter...a 1 is showing. I turn my head to find the other dice. Locate it...a 6.

What would most calls be?

Box says nothing...Stick calls "7". Take the pass and pay the dont's.

Pick up winnings...verbally think softly outloud. "Thought that might be a no roll"

Box and myself make eye contact...I get a little wink.

I recall the days of playing at the old Grand in Gulfport - the rule was simply "if the dice move forward and tumble it's a roll," regardless of how far they traveled forward. I've seen rolls of under a foot called as rolls there. Yeah, multiple offenses would get you a warning - unless you were a little old blue-haired lady, in which case it just didn't seem to matter.
