Okay, I've been toying around with press moves lately - working on material for what I hope will be an upcoming betting strategy/press moves video. Here's the latest play - one that some of you may find interesting.
The play starts with a $2K bankroll (you can always drop a zero and play smaller) and a "qualified" table/shooter. That means players have been making passes, tossing a few decent hands, and routinely get passed establishing a point and rolling at least one inside number before I put any action in play.
First play - $160 across including the point. The plan - to use the pay offs plus the base bet on the sister number to power press any number that rolls. Let's run through an example.
$160 across - 4 rolls - pays $50 for $1 - instruct the dealer to "bring down my $25 ten - take that $25 plus the $50 pay off an make my 4 look like $100." Your next hit on the 4 will pay $200 for $5. Press the 4 to $250 and lock up $50 - essentially recovering your initial investment on the 4 and 10.
9 rolls - pays $35 - instruct the dealer to "bring down my $25 five - take the $25 plus the $35 pay off and make the nine look like $85." Note - if the casino allows buy bets on the five and nine you should buy the number at this point. On the next hit press to $150 and lock up the difference (depending on the pay off - place or buy ).
6 rolls - pays $35 - take down the $30 eight and make the 6 look like $90. Next hit pays $105. Press to $132 and lock up $62, again locking up your initial investment.
Assuming you managed to roll a 4 or 10, a 5 or 9, and a 6 or 8 - you'll have six numbers up, working, paid for, and ready to kick off a decent profit.

Re: Heavy's Twisted Sister
Steve you said : "you'll have six numbers up, working, paid for, and ready to kick off a decent profit"
I'm confused, if you have taken down the sister numbers that don't hit, how would you have 6 numbers up and working?
Also I always wondered why one would place the 5/9 for $25, in a fig vig game. I always place in even increments.
thanks

Re: Heavy's Twisted Sister
You start out with all six numbers up and working, but as each one hits you use the sister bet and the payoff to power press. Sorry if I confused you there. Once you've power pressed three numbers you'll only have those three working. On the five or nine - you are correct. You should always buy them if buy bets are available on the five and nine - particularly if the first buy is free.
Now, for those of you who are into such things - this afternoon I'm enjoying a bottle of Shiner 101 Pilsner. This is a limited edition craft brew from the folks who brought you Shiner Bock. It's a Czech style beer brewed from the simplest of ingredients - barley, hops, water, and yeast. Clean, crisp, and slightly bitter - adding more ingredients to beer actually makes it easier to brew than with just a few. The Shiner folks got this small batch beer right.
Enough thread highjacking. Back to the lawn work project I started BEFORE the beer.
Thanks for the question, pradice.

Re: Heavy's Twisted Sister
Is there a "press" style I can do using only the 6/8? Since they are the easiest to hit.
Example...
1. Place $18 6/8 ...get a hit, put $3 in your rack
2. Take one number down and leave the other..let's leave the 6 up,
3. Another hit, you have $42 profit so far , put $3 more in your rack, and press the $36
4. Another hit, total profit $84 ( $21+$21+$42), put $12 more on your rack and press the $72 ( choice A), OR take the $6 from your rack and press the $90 (choice B)
5. Choice A ...one more hit gives $84 ...total profit $164
Choice B ... one more hit gives $105 ...total profit $195
Does this have any real chance? 4 hits total ... any tips?

Re: Heavy's Twisted Sister
You did fine, Chuck. Let me toss out some six and eight suggestions for you. Don't know if this fits your bankroll or not, but a good way to start out is with $30 each on them.
$30 six or eight - hits and pays $35
Drop $1 and tell the dealer to make your six and eight look like $18 each. At this point you have $1 at risk to win $21 on the next hit.
Next hit pays $21 - same bet.
Next hit pays $21 - drop $3 on top of the payoff and tell the dealer to press the six and eight to $30 each.
Now you're in fat city. Profit in the rack and ready to go. From this point on I'd prefer to press only the number that hits instead of pressing in pairs. Press every other hit. I like to go to $60, then $90, then $120, then $150, then $180. One hit at $180 and I'd regress back to $90 or so.
Here's a fairly standard six and eight progression that works well when the six and eight are showing.
Place them for $18 each. On the first hit drop $3 on the $21 pay out and press both to $30 each.
Next his pays $35 - drop $1 and press to $48 each.
Third hit pays $56 - drop $4 and press to $78 each.
Fourth hit pays $91 - collect $7 and press to $120 each
Fifth hit pays $140 - bring it all down. You'll have $360 there - minus the initial $36 and the buck you're out of pocket on the power pressing. $323 profit for five hits.
If your bankroll requires you to start at the $12 level then press to $18 each on the first hit - then run as above - but I'd regress after collecting $91 to $42 each. I like a $42 six or eight a lot, because you collect $50 for $1 on every hit. But an $84 six or eight is pretty cool as well - pays $100 for $2. Pay me in black, please.
