Casino question?

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

Casino question?

Post by chumlee » Fri Jun 28, 2013 11:52 am

I usually go to the local area casino once or twice a week to play craps. One of the things that I have noticed at a local level is that whenever I place a lay bet, the stickman will try and rotate the dice to that point which I am trying to avoid. I have noticed this happening six or seven times . I usually like laying the 4 for 100 after watching it get hit once, or if the point is four after a pass line hit. I notice that the point could be 10 for example and yet when the shooter gets the dice there is a 4 exposed. Now, when this happens it tilts the advantage from me to the house. Is there anyway to deal with this or unwritten rule. If a stickman is only adjusting the dice or rotating them after a roll when there is a lay bet on the table is that a foul or something I could object to . This is my first time posting so I hope I am describing this situation , but I will be happy to answer any questions to clarify. I am just curious to others opinions who play lay bets what they would do. It is not the only bet I make, but it is a primary advantage play I make.

Why do you think this tilts the advantage from you to the house. RR is RR ... and if it's a DI they will use the set they want ... and if it's a good DI going for the DO side you probably shouldn't be laying against them.

Because the stickman only does it when I place a lay bet. I do not just make the play on chicken feeders I have a list of factors I use. I wait until there are a point or two . With people who chuck it is not an issue , but when they are decent players it hits me. In other words if the point is 8 and the stickman is trying a majority of the time to have a four handed to the shooter how does that not affect your odds.

Did you know that there's an old pit superstition that if you send the dice out on a four it will bring out the seven? Something to think about. In this case, I think there's a good possibility that the shooter has been setting the dice with the eight up and the stick is just sending them out that way to speed up the game. Just my thinking . . .

Definitely something for me to consider. I just think it is weird when the only time the stickman goes to move the dice after a throw is when I have the lay bet out. Maybe my timing just sucks sometimes . That is a possibility too. I just did not know if it something that I should complain about.

When I'm shooting I sometimes set the dice to whatever set I shoot that point number from most often. I.e. crossed sixes is a good set for me to throw a nine or a five. If somebody lays against me, I might be more inclined to do that. The experienced dealers often send me the dice already set pretty close to the set I'm using. I don't think it makes any difference to most dealers what your dice are set at, except for some dysfunctional dudes that have been exposed in some forums. Random is random.

The stickman is supposed to rake the dice the turn them over for the benefit of the eye in the sky. The assumption is that someone in security has a clue about craps (most don't) and can recognize tops (dice with the same number on opposite sides - e.g. instead of five on top and two on the bottom the dice would have fives on both the top and the bottom). The point in that is to keep gaffed dice out of the game. I really don't think it's anything you have to worry about.

I use hardways set and after a few rolls the stickman always sends them to me with one of the hardways up.
