Harrah's Direct Bet

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

Harrah's Direct Bet

Post by LeftyAJ » Sat Aug 03, 2013 8:58 pm

I have a $50. DirectBet coupon offer from Harrah's. Fine print says it must be used on a PL wager only. Any tricks in using one of these? Someone told me I must match the $50 with $50 cash of my own ($100 PL wager)......True or false?

Haven't had one of those suckers myself, but if it were a match play coupon it seems like it would say so. I'm guessing it's probably a coupon you can use on the pass line - and if it wins they take the coupon and pay you $50 (you don't get $100 - $50 for the coupon and $50 for the win). Hopefully it will still be good when you get to the casino. Caesar's Entertainment is leaking profit like the Titanic these days.

H

Actually it was an offer in my August mailer from Harrah's. I need to print it at a casino kiosk when I head down to AC next week.

Like I said my biggest concern was I heard from a buddy that I must match the $50. paper coupon with $50. in chips from my rack, totaling a $100 pass line bet. Forced to match the DirectBet with $50. of my money doesn't sound like a "good deal" to me especially when I'm shooting the dice I usually bet min PL ($10) w/ max odd behind.

Anyone know if I must "match" this coupon with $50. in my chips in order to use it???

I figure if no "match" from me is involved, I'll just put it on the PL and set for sevens........maybe I'll toss a natural!

Bullies:

Take this with a grain of salt as I don't play at Harrahs but from what I can find out on the various sites the 'direct bet' is different from the 'match play' in that you don't have to use any of your own money but winnings can only be paid at 1:1.

I would put in on the passline like you suggested and hope for a seven. I think their idea is that with the odds being that a point will be established you will then be enticed to put max odds behind it thereby using your own money.

Had a free bet from Orleans which just paid even money.

However, you couldn't put odds on it.

Your $50 Direct Bet coupon does not have to be matched by you -

You place the DB coupon on the PL and shoot -

The ' trick ' is to set for and hit a 7 on the CO roll -

You win the $50 bet outright - then go on about your usual style of play -

IF you do NOT throw a winner or loser on the CO roll -

You need to reproduce your efforts and make your point # to lock up your $50 win -

Match Play coupons are what your OP is referring to - you match the value of the MP coupon with your own funds -

Then proceed as above !

FALSE
match play you have to make the same bet in chips for the stated amount on the coupon , Direct bet is only good as stated on the coupon! what I have done is take the coupon to the cage and ask them to break them down into $10 increments 5 chances to beat the casino on a $10 table but then do as $nakeeye$ says I have $60 in direct bet from Total rewards and $50 in match play from the Taj I casino hop on the board walk

Definitely have to "Match" your Match Play coupon.

And remember this about Direct Bet coupons...
Say you put a $50 DB coupon on the PL and Win, they'll give you $50 NOT $100!
I DO like AD's idea of breaking them down, and SS's idea about a "Doey Don't" strategy though.

Good Job!

If you want to get away with close to the $50, you can put it on the PL, put $50 on the DP and take a $2 twelve. You will win $48 or $60.
Or you lose $2 if the decision is pass. You will win $50 on pass, lose $50 on the don't, and lose your $2 twelve.

Also, typically with Match Play you don't have to bet the amount on the coupon. You can bet under or over it, but the casino will only match up to the amount printed. If you have a $50 match play and put $10 on it, on a win you will be paid $10 + $10; if you bet $100, you will be paid $100 + $50. Regardless of the amount you bet or the decision, they take the coupon and drop it in the cash box.

I wasn't aware they would break up large amounts into smaller ones - I'll have to try that next time. Thanks AD for that pointer.

IMHO it's always better to persuade the cage to give ya $5 promo chips on those free bet coupons, some will, some won't.

Last month I was at Harrahs in Tunica I had a $110 free bet coupon. They would not break it down, ok though. I put the $110 on the don't, put $50 bucks on the passline, and jumped on the 12 for 2 bucks. The shooter immediately rolls a 7.. So I at least made the $50 pass line bet, and left the table to eat at "37" with a $40 off coupon.. A very fine free dinner.

Yeah it pays to read the fine print.. Harrahs now has a "reimbursement" for a recent $25 gas/airline travel expense.. No problem fill up the car on the way to Tunica, right? NO, you have to log in 2 hours of play that day, before they give you the $25 in promo chips. So we plan for that.

I love the coupon game, it can be a challenge and profitable. Each time we go to Tunica now, we get at least $120 or so in promo chips, other match play and direct bets, more food offers than we could ever eat, and other "free" stuff. We usually accumulate the promo ships, as they seem to never expire, and then play one casinos worth at a time. Obviously I use the term "free", loosely..

FYI : No matter the play action, the worst coupons we get are from GOld Strike... Another reason not to go there..

good luck

AD great idea, I will try to get them to break it down into $10. increments.

Thanks all others for clearing up the difference between the directbet and Match Play coupon.... Dummy me!

Since I stated playing more in AC (Showboat / Ceasars) .........CET is just starting to "reward" me more with both the match play and DB coupons.

I have not seen the Direct bet, but $50 Match Play Coupons have redefined my session schedule over the last 3 months. Between my two favorite spots I am getting ELEVEN of them a month. I buy and shoot for the ten. I look at it as basically getting paid 4-1 instead of 2-1...which is an absolutely fantastic proposition. My optimal situation is establishing 10 as the point and then using it for odds to avoid the Vig.

I have come to view my coupon conversion rate as a serious metric. I do not play a local session without them.

These things are like PEDS.

Snake

Once I print it, I'll run it over to the cage and see if they can break it down for me.

I'll let you know how I make out......worth a shot

If you don't want to risk $50 of your own cash this is what I was going to recommend. Offsetting bets are the way to realize the actual value of the coupon without the variance. Just be sure to read all the rules printed on it when you get the actual bet coupon.

Well guys, Amish Dude is the man!

In the future if any of you get the larger denomination DirectBet promos from any of the Ceasars Properties do as AD has said. First print it at any Total Reward Kiosk. Then take it directly to the cashiers cage. They will exchange say your $50 coupon with five $10 ones. No hassle, no questions asked, looks to me this is a normal practice.......you just need to know this process exits to take advantage of it.

Actually at Harrahs the cashier walked over to a large table cart full of these pre-printed coupons, grabbed five, stamped them and then handed them to me.

You might have to use the minimum amount they have!
