Hey guys. Just wanted to let everybody know that if you're sitting on the fence about the benefits of at-home roll analysis I've come to the conclusion that it's DEFINITELY worth it. I fought buying Excel for a long time and finally purchased Excel so I could download Bonetracker. I've gotten two books of 720 rolls loaded, one with the 3V and one with a set purmutation from the 3V book of rolls. The 2nd book came out with a modest 6.7 SRR (after an absolutely HORRIBLE start with the first 2 sheets) and in working with the Alleyoop's betting tool I found exactly ONE set of bets that made money on my second book (even with the absolutely HORRIBLE first 240 rolls from that book). What I thought would be profitable from eyeing the data definitely wasn't. By using the betting tool tho with the roll data I found that starting with a $200 bankroll, playing just the passline and placing two numbers only that showed a fairly good advantage for minimum $5 bets (with odds out ONLY on those 2 place bet numbers when one of them was the point) I increased the $200 bankroll to a little less than $500 on this particular book of rolls. It was amazing to see actually. I thought don't pass would work better - WRONG. I thought placing the 8 would work better - WRONG. There was exactly one betting sequence that I fed into the worksheet for this book that kicked off a win. Hoping this holds out in casino play cause this is where I'm headed with my set and betting next time I can make it out to the tables! And the good thing is it works with my personal loss tolerance too (which is not much BTW )
Thanks so much to Maddog and others who contributed to Bonetracker, and I wish I had done this a year ago at least and not been so stubborn about buying a copy of Excel. It's SO worth it to see the actualities vs. what you THINK is going on with your shot. Just can't beat the technology for analyzing the data!

Yeah but I'm thinkin' what I've read says some of the macros don't work with Open Office? I wanted the whole enchilada! Looking forward to seeing you again some time AD.

Excel is well worth the investment. As for BoneTracker - hey, it's free! Hard to beat a deal like that.

Yeah, I would encourage anyone who is on the fence because of the Excel requirement, to go ahead and try out BT with OpenOffice. The only Macro of importance when starting out is the Data Entry Assistant. That won't work, but you can key in your roll results directly into the BT Roll Data screen and that works just fine. Heck, that is how I did it for about six months before I got lazy and wrote the DEA to simplify my life.
If you are getting value out of your tracking, you can then go the next step and get Excel.
I keep starting and stopping a project to re-write the thing in Python or JavaScript or PHP or something and eliminate the need for Excel or any other 3rdparty code. I have a lot of ideas around how to handle/track sessions, look at moving averages over many sessions, use of roll-files, isolation of come-out rolls (and set), etc. But life keeps getting in my way. Soon though... Maybe by the next GAC? Fingers crossed.

MD - once again - THANK YOU for what you've provided with BoneTracker. I have truly been impressed with the info that can be gleaned and it's definitely helping tremendously with analyzing my roll data. The fact that you provide it for free for all of us is GREAT too
Will take a class at some point and find out all of the inner working secrets some day. It's pretty user-friendly as is but I'm sure it has functions I haven't discovered yet. Something to look forward to!

I have used Open Office for BT up until this past Sunday. It works but you miss out on the DEA as Maddog mentioned, PLUS the ROLLS BETWEEN SEVENS calculation wont work, along with the TOP TEN POI on the TOSS STATS tab.
Excel runs these flawlessly, plus it loads and saves MUCH faster
