I was up in metropolis last night and this morning, its the closest casino to me here in Nashville. Plus I like the tables there and I get no heat ever. Well after I experimented with something last night that did miserable I tried something late last night and this morning as well.
Before I detail what happened. Which I don't think was that big a deal but I felt like the dealer and pit boss had a problem with me about it. Also I'm always great to dealers and extremely nice plus I tip quite well. Regardless I had 64$ across, I would let it hit 2 times and press both times then turn off my bets. Either I would wait till they 7 out, try to snipe another roll, or if after they hit their point and a few more numbers I would turn them on hoping to catch a hot roll. Well I had been doing this late last night and this morning with no issues. Plus I know it can be a hassle putting the off and on chip back and forth..etc. that's why anytime I get paid on a bet I throw them a $1 chip for the dealers. Well one dealer comes up and I turn my bets off, after 2 rolls she says
Dealer: "if your bets are turned off after next roll they will come down."
Me: "why?"
Dealer: (with an attitude) "its the rules here and because it can confuse the dealers when they come up and can mess up how the money is paid and is slowing down the game"
Me: "ok, i didn't know why and none of the other dealers do this"
Dealer: (still with attitude) "well they are supposed to, we had a meeting about this and being consistent, I've been dealing for 19 years and this is how we've always done it."
She didnt say this directly speaking to me but the next words were said in front of my whole side of the table.
Dealer: "I don't come to anybody's work and ask them why they are doing something."
Me: "this is my money on the table so I do have a right to ask why something is being done."
It didnt go much further than that but I just wanted to know why she was doing that and if she would just have quickly explained that it can confuse the dealers especially the new ones (which I did witness last night). That would have been 150% good enough for me but then she just got an attitude, I let it die and told the dealer I wasn't trying to be difficult and she still kept with the attitude.
I wanted to vent lol, but has anyone else been told this before?

Were it me in that situation, Yaz, I would have turned her 'rule' against her.
Have her set up the Across-bet...work it for one roll...turn it off for two rolls...announce that according to the "_____ Rule" (insert dealer name here); she can take your bets down...next roll, make the exact same Across-bet as before...lather...rinse...and repeat until she gets tapped-out...then, when she is back dealing to you again, ask the if the "____ Rule" is still in effect.
If so, work her ass like a two-bit hooker, and go right back into the same lather, rinse, repeat routine as before (but again, ONLY when she is dealing to you).

This are a few dealer here in Pittsburgh that will automatically take you down if you off for two rolls.
IMHO, they only do it when it starts to get crowded at the table and depends on the dealer's mood. They want to move the game along fast and want to simply look down when the number hits and pay them off. They do not want to worry about remember Spot X is off. They do not want to be the dealer that is slowing down the game.

Yeah it really depends on the crew.. In my "home" casino at VF (pa). Ive been a rated player there for long enough that they know how I have my bets configured... I also (when its warranted), Do 162 across (buy 4/10) and leave them lit for 3 rolls, and then they mark it off... If I made even 1 hit in those 3 rolls, I have a "ill give you(thedealer) a red, for a Yellow (off button)" on my bets. They leave my bets up consistently. However I do them a solid, if im marked off, and a guy goes bonkers and hits a few box numbers beyond that, and the place bets stack up, ill pull mine down so that they dont have to deal with my off bets..
outside of there, Harrahs doesnt give me much trouble, but they will pull me down after a 7 out, which is fine, because they dont know my betting patterns...

Yeah, I can hear the every-other-roll calls for "take me down" now. Take me down for one roll. $110 inside. Take me down for one roll. $110 inside. Take me down for one roll. Then just to screw with them - $41 no four - $31 no five - $31 no nine . . .

I don't have much experience in turning the bets on and off so I won't speak to that.
I had exactly the same thoughts when I read about the dealer with attitude. She sounds like a Beatch that just hates her job and hates life in general.
My only thought on retaliation is to consider if this is your "Home" casino how it will affect your play there. If you are generally treated well and have no problems then maybe letting it slide or only making a complaint against that dealer is the way to go.
You have to gauge how your attitude and play will affect other players that you may see regularly and other Craps personnel that you get along with. Most of all you have to make sure everyone at the table understands which one of you is being a jerk.
This is all meant as comments in general and nothing specific to any other poster on this thread. Just me saying!

Yeah, you're right. The correct move, if you think you're being slighted, is to appeal to the box or the floor person with the traditional "I surrender" gesture and a question. "Hey Bob - so we have to make Betty here take the bets down when I turn them off or can we leave them up? Just trying to help speed up the game here." Let them know that their "new rule" is slowing the pace of the game and costing them decisions per hour. That's something they understand.

Just quit tippin when she is your dealer, then after she is tapped out start tipping again right away. It will not go unnoticed. However it has always been no offs for Lay bets.

Odds are I'd have told her she was quite welcome to my workplace and shadow me all day long and ask whatever she liked without getting an attitude by way of explanation. In large part because 1] if I dislike customer interactions in a field full of them then I'd be an idiot to continue working in that environment, 2] likely were that attitude toward my customers known I'd at best have explaining to do to my superiors and at worse I'd spend my Thanksgiving planning my job search... clearly you have no such worries about being singled out as the reason the casino during a recession is losing patrons.
The key afterwards is if you are seen as someone the casino would wish to keep as a player, if so let the coziest pit critter you know look up your past play and inform them you intend to take your play to another house where you feel they actually want it and that you'd be telling all of your many friends about why they should too since "fill in the blank" seems to dislike her customers so much that she gives attitude about a simple question regarding the game.
Maybe it does nothing, but in my experience no one in management ever want to hear or explain why a worker is going to cost the company money or create bad PR... the key too is if they have heard this about her before. It might not get anything done but it could get her a nice chat she won't like... and during a recession [in my opinion we're still in it unless you define the loss of jobs without their return as recovery] there are dealers not working that they can hire or dealers that could take her hours easily. Also I'd like to note in retail how that scenario goes down, first the customer is calmed down as best as possible, then the worker if it is known the customer is a real ass is told casually about it [a no harm no foul thing by way of saying she doesn't like you when you see her coming next time get one of us so she won't start shit with you]... if the relationship is not quite so cozy there is either a verbal discussion, a written record of discussion, a written reprimand, or if this is an ongoing issue possibly a pink slip in the near future.
It might play out entirely different in the casino world but if it doesn't and you don't mind costing her a job... if you think you'd feel guilty about costing her a job, make a "Method" player look decisive by comparison. Every roll a different bet, each time more complex than the last, set up mind numbing grinds for her to deal... insist you were paid wrong so she has to explain it and slow the game to a crawl, put her in a position where she actually becomes confused enough to pay out wrong then bring it to the attention of the box... every dirty trick you can imagine is fair at that point. On a sidenote, I've had dealers leave my rolls up and off for as much as a dozen+ rolls without question, it depends on the dealers and their attitude... but then I've had dealers say I was the most polite player they ever met [who the hell doesn't say thank you when a man hands him money? Even if that means saying it 20x+ on 3 consecutive hands].

By Pittsburgh do you mean Rivers? If so I am sure we've seen each other as I have logged quite a few hours at the tables. I have never seen a dealer take my bets down if off two rolls, not once. For a younger crew I find them quite capable and in general they keep the game moving as fast as anywhere I have played. The players on the other hand are OBVIOUSLY new to the game and do tend to frustrate me from time to time. I would certainly like to "turn them off" for a roll or twenty now and then.

An option is to cover the SIX and /or EIGHT should they be open.
Quietly and patiently wait out the hand to termination
