How Would YOU Bet with a $100 Bankroll?

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

How Would YOU Bet with a $100 Bankroll?

Post by heavy » Fri Jan 08, 2016 1:17 am

Simple question. Through the years we've watched several forum members attack the game with what I'd consider to be a "micro" bankroll - a $100 session stake. Some, like our pal Dylanfreake, have been particularly successful in nursing their anemic bankrolls into something robust. But what I'd like to know is how YOU would approach the game with a $100 session stake.

Pass Line only with some sort of progression?
Don't Pass only?
Place bet one number only?
Place the six and eight?
Push it all in the Field?
Negative progression on the hardways hoping for a lightning strike?
$100 Midnight?

Do you ease into the game and try to grow into a real bankroll or get in (and possibly out) in a blaze of glory?
Do you only bet on your hands or do you bet on the randies as well?

Inquiring minds (and a bunch of guys who can just barely scrape together $100 to go to the casino) want to know.

On a $100 buy-in, I will play a single unit on the Don’t Pass when I shoot on a $5 or $10 table. On the Randies, I will wait for him to toss the dice 8 times and then I make a Don’t Come bet. If it goes to the 4 or 10, I will lay single odds. Right now when I play my win goal is $20% and then I walk away. So far this month of January I have 2 wins and no loses. I hope it continues.

£5 pass or DP with single odds. Do not reload after a come out loser. Do the DF thing of wait until you have lost 10 bets then see where you are.

Ditto what London said except I would bet DP only. If I was shooting I would go to my double pitch producing toss after the point was established.

On other shooters. If shooters were tossing or trying to toss sevens on their CO rolls I would wait for a point and make 1 DC bet or do a 5 count and make 1 DC bet per shooter. I don't believe in the 5 count but it does have usefulness as a limited bankroll stretcher if you don't mind standing around with your thumb up your butt for extended periods.

The best thing to do would be only bet on myself but I don't believe I could do that as I don't like standing around doing nothing. If the table was empty I would make a $5 pass with no odds and $27.00 across. After 2 hits I would take everything down but the 6&8. If they subsequently hit I would spread outward.

On RR shooter:
$5 DC right after a toss of 6 or 8
Regardless of resulting DC number, place $6, 6 and 8 (aka, SIA)
If 4/10, lay odds - One(or two) hit, take off odds; regardless of 6/8 hit or not, take off odds after 3 tosses
If 5/9, no odds.
If outside DC number is lost, consider taking down 6 and 8 - if lost before a 6/8 hit, take down both 6/8 - await next shooter

If a 6/8 to make the DC bet does not show up within say 3-4 tosses, consider waiting next shooter.

Assuming the bettor is a DI-believer.
- Hold off on betting on any and all RR except for the shooter before me. Bet either the pass/don't pass depending on how the table appears to be trending.
- Pass line on myself with single odds and place the 6 and 8.
- No pressing on the pass line, conservative pressing on the place bets.
- Each round should cost $27-$28 and should last at least 3 rounds. If you can't use to the table by the third attempt then it's not your day.

$5 DP - $5 DC, best chance to win or break even.

Random roller at emptying table=DP with heavy odds on 4 and 10, place inside numbers for one roll and off.

There are several ways to play this for me
First, place a minimum on P/DP and drink all the free Scotch I could.
Second, my old stand by of DP then place the 6/8 regardless of the point. If you lose (or is that loose?) the CO bet, wait for the next shooter although I tend to place the DP again since rolling two CO winners in a row is rather slim. So, either way is fine. This is probably adjusted to how many free Scotches have passed thru my kidneys.
Now, here with a short BR, if I got a hit on the 6/8, I would tend to leave them to try and catch a run rather than taking my winnings (remove the 6/8 and wait for the DP result).
Then, there is just betting on your own shooting, although that would limit the Scotch somewhat. Here, I would start with a P and no odds to see if my shooting warranted further investment. Then, too, only wager a max of $10 on a nickel table ($5 P + $5 or $6 odds) and $10 max on a $10 dollar table.
If it is a $15 or greater table, play the ##$%^ slots.

So how would you play a $15 table with a $100 bankroll? This should be pretty easy.

You Shouldn't.

But I have done it at my casino several times. I only play a $15 table if it is empty or has 1 or 2 players at it. I only bet when I have the dice. I do a single $15 Don't Pass. Two wins ($30) and I am gone.

Pass/DP 20/15 or 15/20. Hope there is no 12 (or no 2 over here in UK) on come out. Drink free scotch with SIA and maybe start taking odds if a winning streak kicks in or as free scotch kicks in

Shocked at the $15 table at the Sugarhouse Casino in Philly off of Slaughterhouse drive, feeling feverish, fall cold, three years ago. Full table, yelling, everybody is everybody's friend. I sit at a slot machine watching. Side note: The smoke filtration system sucks the big one. I notice three other guys standing near another machine watching. Twenty minutes go by. No more happy table. I run to it and hit the DP..as do the other guys I saw watching like me! $15 DP betting on RR/ slingmaster, $30 odds on the CO 9 and that's it. Hits or it don't. As I remember..Up $35 in short order and then I had the dice which lasted five rolls..but I hit the numbers and did my usual..off after two. So it was ok. But I ended up with bronchitis. That's a $15 dollar table for you.

How Would YOU Bet with a $100 Bankroll?

#1

Session Win goal =15%=$9; Loss limit=$57

On next toss after initial point is set:
Do a DC/C Progression at a $5 table: ($1,3,7,15,31=57total: $6/5, 8/5, Dc$7,Dc$15,Dc$31). On any win start progression again and quit session when +$9 by doing a trailing stop at $9 and raise TS if session continues in your favor. Continue progression on same shooter if u lose 1st wager.

First Goal is to win a total of $14 so u now have two $57busts available from the initial $100 bankroll at risk.
Second Goal is to win a total of $57 so when u do bust out youre guaranteed to have made a profit on the initial $57 per session risk.

*Ive never tried any of the three strategies with $100 BI but have utilized #1 with RR and prefer this method as a way to be in the game and its easy to switch to Do side (PL odds), if a good hand develops.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
#2

Session Win goal =15%; Loss limit=$100

DC Progression on 2nd toss after point established:
($15,35,50). Quit session when +15. Continue progression on same shooter if u lose 1st wager.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
#3
Win goal =15%; Loss limit=$100
Flat Bet DC=$15 on next toss after initial point established with only one loss per shooter. Quit session when +1unit =$15 or no longer have enough money to place another $15 DC.

Playing a $15 table? Really not a good idea but here I would chart the table to separate the players from the wanna bees. Then, bet DP on the wanna bees as you stomach might get in knots if you run into to good shooter or even a good player. On charting here, pay attention to those that tend to throw craps. Avoid playing the don't on setters but pay attention. IF they set the same set every time, track the results and place one of the repeaters on the next round. If they used that set on the CO, I would even consider placing there best repeating number on the CO working. I do that with some players I have played with. For instance, Heavy with his mutant set throws bookoos of fives and nines, so I place them both on the CO IF his uses that set. If not, I forgo that bet. Again, here you must give full attention to what is happening and trending at the table.

$ 5.00 Table
Pass line w/ 1x odds, progress odds only on each win.
Win 50.00 or over, walk.
lose 70.00, walk.
No RRs.
Its a good way to play if someone is just starting out, you can get your toss dialed in and have some fun at the table. I would try to find a table with no more than 4 or 5 players so you can get a little break between hands.

On a $15 game I'd go with London Shooter's un-equal Doey-Don't play. I'd go with $15 on the PL and $25 on the DP. Looking to win three bets and get up $30. If I managed to do that then I'd continue the play and add $30 odds on the DP. If I won that bet then I'd go for two in a row. From there - if I scored two in a row I'd continue to play but without the odds until I won three more bets. Shake well and repeat. If I lost either of those prior two bets I'd end the session.

$100 is exactly what I started with . I hated gambling , not because of moral issues but because I lost a few cents playing penny ante poker as a teen.(maybe a dime). I told Gail, once that $100 was gone never ask me to go to a casino again.

If I were to start with $100 again , I would bet a $5 DP and leave it naked , one loss per shooter. Anytime I was ahead , I would consider leaving the table. My loss limit would probably be $10. I would bet this way on any shooter and pray for a lot of luck.

Now if I could find a $3 table that is where I would play. In August of 2000, when I began my gambling days, there were quite a few $3 tables in Tunica , plus the 25 cent table at Ballys that Operator and I frequented. You had to play $1 on the line or come, though.

One night tonfau and I were there . Tony was playing Pittsburgh Johnnie, starting at $5 and I was playing Oscars grind starting at a dollar. Tony won 100 plus dollars and I won $20. Tony kept urging me to increase my starting wager . He said had you started at $5 , you would have won $100, instead of $20.

I guess the gist of all that above is playing with a $100 bankroll on a $5 table is tough. You only have 20 starting wagers if you play a naked $5 DP or even PL. On a $3 table , you have 33 starting wagers.

I don`t think I could have survived with my $100 bankroll had it not been for Ballys dollar table (a more manageable 100 wagers) and a lot of luck, plus patience and discipline (and being hard-headed).

As far as $10 and $15 tables , I never played them . I just did not feel that I had the bankroll to risk $10 or $15 at one time on one shooter.

This question by Heavy has brought back many fond memories.
