A thought about Craps from an old man

Back in late winter, early spring, I was thinking while playing the free holdem games on Poker Stars about how I am perfectly satisfied playing the 1000 token low limit games. Gail on the other hand likes the 50,000 token games or even the 100,000. When I first started playing the free games , it probably took me two or three years to build up a couple of million tokens. Now Gail sometimes wins 2 or 3 million tokens in some of the games when she finishes in the money. I play the 6 man table games and Gail plays in the games with a couple hundred other players.

My thoughts while playing poker drifted to craps early one morning. At the time when I went to the casinos for a craps session , I would try to play the lowest minimum table , preferably $5 and lay $42 on whatever the point was in odds. I thought that I would probably just as satisfied playing minimum odds in place of $42 odds.
And then I thought more---- My bankroll is over $12,000-----I am 70 years old------my craps playing days are limited-----limiting my losses to 4% of my Total Gambling Bankroll per session means my bankroll will probably last until I die-------so why not just play and keep building up comps and using them during my remaining good years----since it really doesn`t bother me when I lose and it really doesn`t excite me when I win, why not just play the table minimum laying minimum or close to minimum odds????

So beginning June 2016 , I began playing $5 DP $12 (10) 12 (8) 12 (6). To spice it up a little and to help keep me alert at the table , I would count the number of shooters and after 60 shooters , if I were ahead , I would move up to $18 in odds for the next 60 shooters and continue going up $6 in odds each 60 shooters if ahead. If I were behind after 60 shooters ,I would drop back to $12 in odds and begin again.

My results for the month of June playing this way was:
I played 18 hours and 45 minutes-----259 shooters -----ended minus $129

That was an average of 13.8 shooters per hour.

If I lost $129 per month , It would take 8 years for my bankroll to become zero.

This is not the way to play , if you are wanting to increase your Total Gambling Bankroll. You cannot play unlimited sessions. You must use a loss limit and you must quit when you are ahead.

Interesting way to pace your increases. I think I would not base it on shooters. I'd base it on the clock. If I had a digital watch I'd set it for one hour. At the end of that hour I'd check my rack. If I were ahead I'd consider increasing my base bet by the percentage I was ahead for the next hour's play. Let's say I started out with a $300 buy in and was playing $5 DP with 2X odds. At the end of the hour my bankroll had increased to $400. We'll call that 25% growth (although a 25% increase on $300 actually gets you to $375). That takes your DP bet up to $6 (since we don't have quarters to play with). You're on your own to figure out the odds. In any case, play at that level for the next hour. Then reevaluate again. You may increase your bets again - or decrease them - or just get the hell out of Dodge.

Anyway, just a thought.

That is a pretty good thought. The reason I was playing around with shooters is because I figured there would be about 15 shooters per hour so that 60 shooters would be about 4 hours of play which is the number of hours that was used as the standard amount of play per day that the casino bean counters liked to see .

I was also told by a casino dealer in Las Vegas that he once had a pit boss that told him he hated players that only bet PL/DP and took/layed odds because it was harder for the casino to beat them.
