Sports books?

Believe it or not, craps is not the only game in the casino. Savvy players have a back-up plan for when their craps game is off. If Heavy isn't winning at Craps you're likely to find him playing Baccarat, Blackjack, or even Roulette. If the table games aren't working out he may even take a cigar break in the high limit slot area for a little hit-and-run action. But just like craps - you have to plan your play and play your plan. If you have a question on slots, video poker, carnival games or any table games other than craps, this is the place to post. Let's hear about the games you play when you're not playing craps! What's your game? What's your strategy? How's that working out for you? Inquiring minds want to know!

Sports books?

Post by flextimeLV » Mon Nov 21, 2016 10:38 pm

Does this qualify as a casino game other than craps? Sports betting is another BIG business out there, obviously. Do we have any sharps in the axis nation?

No, I'm not one, but I've subscribed to a few services with decent success. I think I built a $200 starting bankroll to over $2k with the 'lowvig' site, but tried my hand at their blackjack game and gave it all back (short-bus classic move). That ended my foray into sports betting.

Ask Shoot-it-all about his 3 game parlay last weekend. LOL.

There are a lot of sports bettors on the board, they just don't say much. Now, what Heavy is referring to is a parlay I put in for Sunday.
Det -7/Jacksonville
Pitt -9/Cleveland
NE-13/SF
The bet was for $5 to win $41.50 So, first time in my life, I got a two team push out of three teams. (Det & NE) Won Pitt so I was paid a whopping $5 bucks.
Tonight on Oak/Hous, I had Oak -7 Again a push.
The thing about the NFL is this year I have not figured out anyway to really handicap the games. Flying by the seat of my pants.
I do not bet basketball, baseball, hockey or anything else. I bet just a little on the NCAAF but it is hard to figure also.
A week or so ago, I had a five teamer and just needed the Vikings to win over Chicago on Monday night. So much for that.

Been a tough season for bettors on the minus. There have been more close game results, ie within 7 points, than ever before at this stage of the season.

horse player here. It was something to do in Connecticut when I was running printing presses. Used OTB and Sports Haven in New Haven. Came in second and won $1500 in a handicapping contest and won several pick sixes. My go to bet was an exacta. Worked Hollywood Park, Santa Anita..you name it. I'd do it now, but I live in Atlanta..and they got nothin' here.

One of the interesting ideas I discovered with sports betting is the 'fade' strategy (pick opposite). SIA- if you've got bad luck overall with your picks, maybe you should post them so that we can 'fade' you. Make sense?

Someone said never bet on anything that takes a dump. That would be horses, football players, etc. But doesn't it depend when they took a dump? Old track guys looked for that. They even used to break it down. Was it a big one on a scale of 1 to 5? Everybody tries to get an edge.

Jaime-- define irregular race? Losing the jock qualifies?

Never bet on anything that takes a dump.... that would rule out betting on craps shooters, no?

Losing the jockey does not qualifies as a Irregular Race.
In Puerto Rico, if the horse throws the jockey----and the horse breaks a leg---we shoot the jockey.

O.K, IN race number1-----you have10 horses enter in that race.

The following appy's to any of the 10 horses.

Horse number 5 breaks out FIRST or SECOUND or THIRD, THEN he starts running backwards to
FOURTH or FIFTH or SIX or WORSE.

Then that horse finishes the race SECOUND orTHIRD or FOURTH, thar horse had a Irregular Race.

You will play that horse today to WIN, $50 dollars to win.

You will play $5 dollars [[[EXACTA WHEEL ]]] WITH THAT HORSE TO PLACE. 5x9 + 45 dollars.

So far you have $ 95 dollars in bets on that race.

Now you will bet $95 dollars to show on that Horse, if that horse wins YOU will collect the Win money AND the show money.

If that horse place you will collect the EXACTA 5 TIMES and the show money.

If the horse comes in third , you will collect the show money.

If you have any questions please post them to me., good luck.

Please keep this system to your self, it took years to come up with it.

Jaime Garcia====not the baseball player.

Flex: If you want to fade my play for Turkey Day:
Three teamer: Det -2 1/2 Indy +9 1/2 Dallas/Wash Over 51. (I would love to bet SU on the 'Skins, but I am a long time Cowboy fan, since 1960. I have also lost more money betting on the 'Boys than any other team, so I do not bet them one way or the other.)
Betting $8 to win $43.70.
Anyways, like craps, I do not bet enough to care one way or the other, I just like to win. I have heard all the lectures about how bad a bet a parlay is but I play them for fun. I don't hit often, but when I do I actually get a little excited. When we use to go to LV, you could bet $2 to win $2,000,000. Just pick 20 winners out of about a 100 games or something. I doubt if anyone ever hit it but they got several of my $2.00s because it was FUN. sia

Someone said never bet on anything that takes a dump.
I've heard that phrase attributed to Benny Binion, who reportedly said that he would "never bet on anything that eats or shits."

Fact is, if you are any good at sports betting it's probably the best "game" in the house. Follow that with poker, where you can get an advantage by being a better poker player than the other guys at the table. Then I think you can get down to blackjack and craps. I'd follow those two with baccarat. I like roulette because I believe you can exploit dealer signatures and, with practice, can become adept at wheel clocking. The "air ball" electronic roulette machines are fairly easy to best once you understand how they work. After those games . . . hell, I don't know. A good video poker game if you can play perfect strategy would be one option.

Good VP is right up there if you can find the right pay table, which as we are probably aware is all too rare today. Then again, if you are not around for the average 40,000 hands or so it takes to get a Royal, then plenty other games will work out better.

O.K. guys: "cluck, cluck, cluck" I'm chickening out. I have won the first two legs of my three teamer parlay. Game is in 30 minutes from now. So, do I bet Pittsburg Straight up and guarantee a win? Or do I go whole hog or none? Yep, I took the sure win. I bet $15.00 on Pittsburg -9 1/2. So there is no way I can get a tie but IF Pittsburg covers, I win $15.75. IF Indy covers, I win $40.70 - $15.00 or $25.70.
Now, Just for grins, I took the over because 'Skins averaged 33 points there last three games and the Boys, averaged 34 for a combined average of 67 points. 'Boys won 31-26 for 57 points with the O/U of 51. Why I don't bet the 'Boys? They won but did not cover (-5 1/2).
So there you have my high roller football betting for turkey day. Whoo Hoo. (like I mentioned, handicapping football this year is a bitch, nothing works really good except the O/U has some wiggle room) You will love this. I put my Steeler bet in at 7:52 and got 9 1/2. Now the line is -8. Sudda waited any maybe hit a middle.

Nice move to hedge. Bit like laying the last point on a firebet :)

Didn't think Colts backup QB was too shabby but Pitts were on fire from the off.

;) UNHH!!Cousins looked good also; but the skins had a QB on the bench that has beaten the boys in Dallas. Colt McCoy is just getting rusty  UNHH!!
