I was talking betting strategies today with someone who plays regularly and has a unique approach to the game. This person is a high limit slot player who thinks nothing of running $3K to $5K a day through the machines - knowing that somewhere down the line there's a $100K payout. And yes, this person has won that kind of money in the past. Due largely to this background (I suspect) this player takes a similar approach to craps. He seeks out a table with the All Tall Small - preferably one that will accept up to a $25-$25-$25 wager. His standard play is $10-10-$10 with just $5 on the Pass Line. He takes double odds - so his sevens risk is just $45. That's $45 at risk to potentially win $2450 plus the PL win if it hits as well. That's about an 80 - 1 Pay off. I know for a fact this guy has hit on the ATS (betting on other shooters) twice with $25-$25-$25 on it in recent years. I find the strategy to be somewhat (ahem) "out there." However, I can see the attraction as well. As this guy tells me, "Sometimes I don't want to think about betting or tossing the dice. Sometimes I want to drag up a stool, sit down, smoke a good cigar and drink a couple of beers. It's just like playing slots." Come to think of it - I guess it is.

When you're in Kansas City could you make a note of what the ATS payoffs are? They used to be 35 for 1 and 175 for 1 but I haven't been there for several months.

Council Bluffs is on my schedule for next weekend, Vegas the weekend after that. Looks like KC will be Sept 15th or later.

I had always given some thought to pursuing bonus + minimal play just to get "practice time" on a table at a real casino whether for the fire bet or ATS. The thing is, if you catch a hand, are you going to keep at the minimal bet exposure and watch same number after same number go by while in pursuit of the bonus? I'd have a hard time doing that. I still like the idea, but haven't pulled the trigger to try. You could get into some lay action depending on the remaining numbers. Would I do it on a randie? Probably not.

In some sense, that's what I do with the FireBet, and I could see betting the max on the FireBet then a Passline bet. I kinda treat it as a separate game that doesn't interfere with my regular game for the most part.

What do they do on a come out 7 though, do they replace the bet? If so, how often? Do they ever stop on the same shooter?

Also regarding running through 3K or 5K through a slot machine, what denomination slots do they play? $25 $50 $100?

Mostly $1 and $5 machines with max coin in. Same kind of deal - the pursuit of the Progressive Jackpot.

Back to the All Tall Small, still stuck on getting knocked off with a come out 7. It's always been the problem I've had with the bet, getting knocked off and having to come back on the bet. Just gets too expensive very quickly.

Well at my casino they have the “Craps for Cash” Bet. It’s only for the person shooting. The only bet that is required is a $5/$10 passline bet or a $5/$10 Don’t Passline bet. You make all the numbers and they give you $2,500. I have done it 3x’s already this year so far. They also have the Firebet but I don’t play that.

That's certainly a major flaw with the strategy. You could throw money away hopping the sevens, but that gets costly quicly as well.

I think a one time reload per shooter and then your done is a way to go. The seven consecutive 7s on the CO I saw from one person downtown in May would be very expensive, however, given that kind of trend a lot of people would be making money also via passline parlays for example......

I don't mind the ATS play at all though not on the new "improved" pay table that now dominates. It also has some hedge potential if a box number remains, but this player doesn't sound like a hedge kind of guy.
