Re: What's the Point in Lay Betting?
Well there's a phoenix from the ashes post that I didn't make today, but did a few weeks back.
Re: What's the Point in Lay Betting?
Yeah, I spent a little time bumping up some threads today. We have a few new folks on board and I KNOW they don't have enough to read already - so I thought I'd tease 'em a little bit.

But how did my reply end up dated apr 7th when I made it at end of Feb?
Re: What's the Point in Lay Betting?
I bumped the topic - just like I'm about to bump it again because there's some great stuff here I want the newcomers on the forum to be sure and read.

I know you guys don't like them because they don't take classes, but the bubble machines are a great place to try out you lay bet strategies at 3.33% the cost of a live table in some cases. The one they put in at my local casino allows $1 lay bets and pays to the penny, vig on wins only. I often lay $6.00 across and reverse press $1 per box number roll, till I catch a seven, $10 per point max pain.
Where it's located, I can watch the live tables for a good shooting opp. to arise from there and I often can grind out $100 an hour playing that way.

I think the bubble craps machines are under-rated by many of us. I look at them as slot machines and as such, they are subject to streaking. I've done well playing SIA's one hit - can't miss. My biggest problems is getting my bets in before the time limit expires. But like you - I can make $60 - $100 an hour on them with relatively conservative play.

Win or lose - in a live game my rate of travel is about $100 an hour. By rate of travel I mean I'll either win that much or lose that much. My wins typically exceed my losses a few bucks per session. Most sessions produce small wins. The key is timing (or as I have said many times - quitting while you are ahead). I will say that I'm much more likely to take a regression on a bubble craps machine than I am on a live game. That's because I trust real dice more than I do bubble dice and the program that runs them.

Re: What's the Point in Lay Betting?
And another thing about winning and losing as a DI. Been practicing throwing for over a year. Every day. I know that sometimes I get things right..and sometimes I don't feel it. But the thing is..I realized that I will have losing sessions, but in the long run, the sessions where I'm on..I make a lot more money than I lose on the bad sessions. So I don't get depressed about it any more. I try to abide by not chasing, but there are times where I've gotten down and the other(wrong or right) side becomes totally playable. It's a choice. So far, so good. Slots. Forget small casino slots IMO. The larger the enterprise, the better things will go for you. Just my opinion. Where I play craps in North Carolina, Murphy..they are tight. Haven't to Cherokee, the bigger casino, in about a year. That may be acceptable.
Re: What's the Point in Lay Betting?
I have never played the darkside and am ignorant of most of the reasoning of what to do and not do.
I am looking at this post after reading Heavy's post asking people to post their No (BS) Foundation Frequencies.
In that post Heavy asked someone to look at their Transposed sets to see if any other set showed and much better or much worse SRR.
When looking at my latest BT set of numbers I found and very low SRR, with one, call it a non-signature number being very high.
With the above being the case, even though from reading thru all the above posts it seams the opinions are not to place lay bets, would you ever consider placing lay bet against that one number.
May be I should make a post to the No BS Foundation Frequency, showing the numbers

Re: What's the Point in Lay Betting?
Reason for above question on placing lay bets, on my latest set of BT #’s, showing a SRR of 7.68 for my 3V set. The 6 showed a plus +6.4% and the 5 showed a +1.0% difference from normal, all other numbers were a negative percent difference. There was only 1 20 toss hand in above numbers.
I look at set #15 on the Transpose 64 tab, where the SRR was 4.92, showing a +16 count from normal of 7’s, and a -21 count on the 9.
Am I right in thinking that if I had layed the 9 for 31.00 every time and replaced it if the 9 was knocked off, would the win be correct that I figured below?
BT show I tossed 89 7’s and 28 9’s.
7’s ….. 89 x 20 =1780.00 wins
9”s ….. 28x31= -868.00 losses
Darkside Overall gain of =$912.00 Is this correct?
Right side on the original 3v set with a 30.00 place bet on the 6 it earned 950.00 on the 6.
When does it pay to play the dark side?

Re: What's the Point in Lay Betting?
Yes, assuming you were laying the 9 right from the off on the come out.
A few comments:
1. Small data sample
2. Does your throw (and transposed set) hold up like this in real casino conditions?
3. All results are on your own throw. You are never getting this long with the dice in perhaps a week of shooting with that many 7 outs.
4. Also as it is on your own shooting you will need action on the passline or DP. That and any other potential action you place will complicate things.
5. Are you betting anything on other shooters?

Re: What's the Point in Lay Betting?
After taking 5 years off from tossing dice, I spent the last 2 months working hard on my grip/toss/LZ. Every time I made a toss teak I had to start over on the toss count, so this sample is my latest sample since I think it is the toss I want to continue to work with.
My latest in casino trip the high # of 6's turned into high # of 8's. On my home table my signature number is the 5-1 side facing me. At the casino it was the hard 4-4 bottom face.
I can tell from BTer's bet summary tab that a 5.00 pass line w/double odds would have added and additional 381.00 profit , but can't make it figure what would happen on the don'ts with the transposed set.
I try to play when tables are half empty, and yes I make a min. pass line with no odds and place the min 6 and 8, one hit and down, then hope to get my flat pass line bet back before the 7 shows.
