The "Famous" Scoblete Five Count

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

Point number throw the six twice seven out nothing lost with the five count.

You are still at the table wiating for someone to get hot, right?

The most frustraiting thing to me is the idiot that can not make his bet until the shooter is throwing the dice and all he wants to bet is a 1 dollar crap or the person at the end of the table that will not keep his hands out of the game.

The world is a tuff place to be so let people have there fun without interupting it and never help someone at the craps table unless they ask for it then refer them to the dealers saying they are the profesional, just put a buck on the line for them and they will teach you all u want to know.

Only problem with that is that half of todays dealers are bigger fleas than the players, lmao.

Here's our "classic" bump post of the day. The subject? The "Famous" Scoblete Five Count. If the Five Count saves you money at the table then the Six Count must save you more. Then there's the Nine Count, the Fifteen Count, and the Twenty Seven Count. Come on, Scobe. Why don't you like the "Famous" Heavy One Count - or for that matter the "No Count?" Oh well. Here's YOUR chance to chime in on the Five Count. I know SOME of you guys still cling to this strategy. Read through this old thread and let's hear your thoughts. For those of you who posted way back when - has your thinking changed?

it has never made sense to me. Like Heavy noted in the original post, the odds of a seven showing on the next random roll are always the same. i guess then the five count would make ISR pointless since you crossed the threshold after count five. Put $220 inside after count 5 and let it ride I guess. 😀

Any count or qualifying method makes sense to me in that keeping money off the table in a random game is going to lose you less.

If you have a genuine advantage (or know other shooters that do) then any kind of count is going to cost you money. Get your kelly sized bets in right away, work them on the come out and keep them working until you may feel fatigue or other distractions are kicking in and affect the skilled edge. I'll wager very few of us are doing this, if any at all. I know I don't ........but then I doubt I have an advantage on the tables. Maybe at Bally's in LV.....

I read Scoblete's book and his 5-count appears to be based on witch doctor nonsense. Clearly, most of the folks we find at the craps table including me and random rollers. Even a random "randy" can have a good run even feeding the chickens. Last June at Heavy's One-on-one class in Las Vegas some of us were over at the Palm playing on their 12 foot table. It was not a remarkable time for the crew, but there was a short Asian Lady at SO who was blasting her tosses like she was going to kill chickens. It was scary (and she was scary actually). But, she had an incredible hand. She was having an impressive run and we made some money. So, was her "technique" anything? Probably not. She caught a trend but all of the evidence suggested that she is a random roller. Scoblete misses the point. If you want to avoid the rapid tossing out guys, don't play. You will avoid 100% of the short sets that 7-out quick. You will also avoid the trends, the DI's who sneak in there when you least expect them, and your own talents.

I would rather use my gut about people. I didn't be the pass line with the Asian Lady, she made me nervous. However, she was hitting numbers and I bet many of them during her hand. Later by the way some of us were cashing our chips and she corners a few of the the other guys near the door. I suspect she had other "games" in mind with the guys who were trying to ignore her. posting.php?mode=reply&f=4&t=284#

I think the 5-count is meant to be a balance between minimizing your bets on other/random shooters but still playing enough to get player club points for comps and being able to still shoot the dice. A 6-count, 9-count, etc means you're less likely to have bets out there which means no buffet coupon next month.

For me, since I am a regular at a local casino I can and have gotten away with having no bets on other shooters. I have actually came up to the table, have no bets on the other players and still get offered the dice. I don't get a lot of comps but can get into the players lounge for a free meal, so...

As I've become more comfortable with playing dark side where warranted, I've moved beyond 5 counts or qualifying shooters. Before that, I found myself sitting around too long and losing out on opportunities. I think it's all part of a maturation process. A count system might be good for someone starting out and either unsure or just reluctant (or stubborn) to go dark.
