How do you handle HEAT ?

The latest bit of heat I am now getting is being passed by when it is my turn to shoot. There is a new, very young boxgirl and she sticks by some "made up in her head" rule that every person at the table MUST bet before getting to shoot. This is pure BS because I know one of the floor supervisors/dealer trainer/sometime fill-in boxman and he said it is BS! He told me just don't get into it with her and he would eventually get things straightened out.

She pulled this on me last week and I said, "so because I don't bet on anyone other than myself, you are basically not going to allow me to play at all right?" The muttered answer I got was "I don't make the rules." At this point, I had picked up ALL my chips and started away from the table BUT, I was feeling a bit pissy that day and stopped for one more question.

"Just so I COMPLETELY understand the rules...what if I am the only person at the table and have no one to bet on before you allow me to shoot. What happens then? Must I wait until someone else comes to play and bet on them, after you allow them to shoot, WITHOUT betting on anyone else first?" The reply was, "the rules are the rules sir."

Yea right...GOTCHA! Still didn't answer my question... Just walk away Michael, shame on you! Live to play another day and just toss out a minimum 50 cent craps bet or a minimum Doey/Don't.

Interesting to note that if you question any of the women here, you will NOT win the argument. If it is men, I almost always win the argument because they will back down and listen to logic/reason.

I've heard quite a few stories over the years of people not being allowed to shoot if they are just waiting for their turn to get the dice. As with lots of craps "rules" things like this will vary property to property and sometimes even between personnel within the same property, as you experienced here.

Just last week. I bought in for $200. Gave my wife $100 in chips. She was playing OHCM and I Heavy"s Heat Seeker. She passed the first time the dice came to her. Decided to shoot second time around & stick said no. She didn't buy in so she cant shoot. Is this a rule or were they just being pissy? Not like we were tearing up the place!

Going back to the original post in this thread at SL1 or SR1 I put my chips in the rail right next to them and stand as far away from them as I can without leaving enough room for a person to squeeze in between. Learning an underhand toss is another option to keep your hands out of the prop box.

Personally, I've haven't been able to make a shot where my hand goes far into the prop box work. The stick person is in the corner of my eye just enough to be a distraction for me. If you use that type of shot you should consider practice with a person standing right next to you to see if you get the same results.

Bought $100 in chips from a guy mid roll at a table on same trip. Dice came to me and no problem.

Is heat still an issue in Vegas? Where are the friendly places? The not so friendly places? The advantage is normally very small if there is an advantage and if you aren't betting into the advantage then there probably really isn't any.

I think the unfriendly places are just thinking narrowly and see you trying to beat the casino and react to that alone. What techniques can be used to make your toss just simply look like the process is a superstition rather than a controlled throw....perhaps that will calm things down.

You could make a table minimum Pass Line bet
when you will be in place for the dice to pass to you.

You are not required to make an odds bet on the P L..

Only play when the O K crew is working
OR
Travel to a casino more player friendly ..

slst1996 - I find most of the Caesars properties very tolerant these days. There are still a couple of TGS types at Paris who can be dicks, but for the most part it's okay. I find MGM to be fairly good as well. I still won't play at Monte Carlo due to past problems, but some of the guys play there and like it. Most of the Station properties are okay. Heat is shift specific at Green Valley Ranch. A lot of the old timers with Station have retired and the heat went with them. Southpoint is still pretty sweaty. I hear Treasure Island is as well. Downtown - avoid Binions. Four Queens will get sweaty if you catch a decent hand. As long as you're losing they pretty much leave you alone. I've had no problems anywhere else downtown.

Back in May of 2016 I was at Paris. Had a decent hand around the 22 rolls mark and was up about
$1100 when the stick man started to actually try to hit the dice. He leaned in while I quickly set the X6's and as I began my underhand toss from the deck at SR1, he had his stick lined up across my
path. I couldn't believe it. First time he hit my dice, I was lucky in that a six rolled but one die was knocked down by him and didn't hit the back wall. Box man didn't say a word. Next roll he did it again and I got lucky that a trash roll resulted.
At this point I pulled my bets down, left my minimum PL in place and proceeded to play stick ball where I AIMED for his stick. He kept it up in the air now because all the players had pulled their bets down, but I purposely threw the dice at his stick several times.
A few times a die hit his stick up high and went off the table. After 2 more off the table rolls where the box man had to retrieve, they finally said something. After all we now had a pause in the game which was getting long. My reply was I thought I was supposed to hit the stick because he placed the stick in front of me several times. They chastised me BUT THEN LEFT ME ALONE. I set for the 7 out and got it 2 rolls later. Colored up and walked to Bally's. Went back about a year later and there was no heat but I'm not sure if they marked my players card. I was not playing big money.

I don’t get heat anymore because:

1) I’m very polite to the dealers. Every time I ask them to do something, it’s always followed up with “Thank You”.

2) I work with them to help new players out

3) I wait until they’ve dealt out the money to do anything


I find that this and being personable goes a long way.

And if you throw a white chip next to your PL bet on the comeout(dealer side)..that helps too.

No it doesn’t. A cun’t is a cun’t. Just do what the other guy said, take your time speak with the box, extend your time per roll and you will piss em off a lot more then they are, but be kind and innocent, why why why please please please.

After a little while they won’t even bother you anymore. If you stall them every time they try.

Well yeah. If they don't respond to a bet for them..sure. But I wouldn't stall them. They'll take the dice away from you if you purposely slow the game and if you want all the other players to hate you for stalling..well that's your game. I like a pleasant table as I can get. Or I leave. I did that at the Paris.Went to Bally's. No problem.

That is how you handle heat. If you're even thinking that you may be receiving heat it IS affecting your toss.

These days, I skip Paris and head right to Bally's. No hassles, No BS, just high rails and old style surface.... and the Fire Bet......

I'm going to Vegas at the end of the month, this is good to know.

I prefer MGM to Caesars, but I'll check out Bally's (per the other comments).

Also, Stations properties seem to be good. Palace has some cantankerous dealers, but not totally surprised.


Another great place that I like shooting is Suncoast. I've had nothing but good experiences with the dealers. They'll even keep the table open if it's just me playing from the Don't (some places will close it up because there's just one person playing).
