Re: Where's the Dark Side Love ??
Bankerdude80,
I want to try a little dark side next trip. You start with no pass line bet, two DC, if shooter makes point you transition with 6 &8 bets? If he knocks you off both wait a roll and transition with 6&8 bets? Am i understanding your play?

I believe that BD only makes a single 6 or 8 bet, not both, on the transition probably based on his tracking of numbers during the hand.

22inside has it. I place only the six or eight during the transition. I'll usually use first hit to place the sister number. I'll then collect on second hit. That $12 rightside bet has to pay for any additional action. I will then build up and out if the hand continues. The rest of the play you got.

Thanks 22 & BD
I experimented a little in practice today and i kept getting killed by come out 7s. I guess its just part of playing this side of the game. Do you take odds on established dont come bets and do you turn the odds off on come outs?

Re: Where's the Dark Side Love ??
Big O, you should be winning on ComeOut sevens with DC bets unless you are playing the DP. I wait for the shooter to establish their point. I then make 2 consecutive naked DC bets. The only way to lose on the DC is if the shooter tosses a Yo or sevens out. Once the DC travels, you cannot lose it to a come-out seven. With $10 bets, you can hedge the Yo by making a $1 Yo bet,, I rarely hedge unless I see Yo's trending in a game. Ideally, the two DC bets travel to two separate box numbers and you wait for the seven. If shooter makes their point and tosses a seven on the next come-out, you should be winning on both of your DC bets. Likewise, if shooter sevens out before he makes his point, you should win on both DC bets unless he has knocked you off the bet in the meantime.
For now, this is an entertainment play for me. I do not lay odds on my DC bets though you have the option to do that. Once I get a better idea on how the darkside game flows, I may lay odds in the future.

Thanks, showing my ignorance. Not sure how I got it mixed up. If that’s the case my test session went well.

No worries. We're all here to learn.
Heavy, I love that graphic. Probably not a good idea for a group of us to show up at a table all in T-shirts with that graphic on it. I could see those from another DI group doing it though.

Nice graphic, maybe we can use it for the winner of the next Dark Sider's Ball - though I think instead of flames on the dice, we need an iceberg........

Ha Ha N8. Frozen Dice would be extinguishing the flames!
skasower...aka...too afraid yet to play dark side but maybe I will venture it the way BD approaches it.

Re: Where's the Dark Side Love ??
Skasower....... there's nothing to fear.....
Stand at the end of a table and spectate, make the DC moves in your head and keep track of them as play ensues. BD's double naked DC play is a fine start. As you watch the moves, you'll also see some other things, presuming its a choppy trending cool table.... you'll see less sevens on the come out, more PSOs, or PPSOs. When I see that, I start back on the DCs as the primary move - simply because a couple of PSOs in a row, means no successful DCs profits. I usually sit on the DCs then until the come-out sevens chase me off it. Then if I start seeing inside numbers, I think about going both ways - but transitions are for another day, pal.
For now, play the moves is you watch and see how it shakes out - there's nothing to lose and lots to learn about, D.N8r

Re: Where's the Dark Side Love ??
D.N8r I will give it a shot! My next trip to Las Vegas is June 18 and I am working up a betting strategy. I know this string is dark side discussion, but standing at the end of the table then implementing the "transition" means that I have to get ready to toss from the end of the table...more practice! I thank everyone who have weighed in here because when I am standing around waiting to get the dice, I am tempted to bet on Randies. You all know what usually happens: slow decrease in my gambling budget. Dark side offers hope for those times, but the quiet dark sider is best of at the very end of the table. This also is going to be a subject I look forward to....onward to TRANSITIONING!

Re: Where's the Dark Side Love ??
If you must bet the randies...the Dark Side will generally show you wins on them.
D.N8r is spot on! Play/chart them in your head by spectating for a round. Get the feel for what might seem to work well, the way it is going (choppy, cooling or flat cold), and then jump on it! Sometimes after just two shooters, I jump in. The casino I go to tends to pave the Dark Side way very quickly, especially with PSOs! Of course, anything can happen but spectating does help you get it in your mind first.
IMO, only let a single shooter beat you once if you play the DP. If you lose one, then play a neg progression on the DP a few rounds. The odds of winning on the DP are highly favorable when the table is choppy or cooling off. If all anyone can do is toss sevens/elevens...back off the DP for awhile.
Seemed to work for me most of the time...

D.N8r said,
I have done this a few times waiting buy in at my preferred shooting position. There have been a number of times i have wanted to make DC bets or lay numbers but am hesitant since my normal position is next to stick. Do any of you dark siders ever play dark side from next to stick. Like skasower i havent practiced tossing from SO. I guess if sometime i felt my toss was really off i could move to the end play dark and not toss. Not toss,I cant believe i just said that. I do think it a good idea to learn both sides of the game and be able to capitalize on either side.Stand at the end of a table and spectate,

You bet I do. I don't care where I am.
Funny thing, playing Dark Side next to stick seems to WAKE up everyone else at the table, who are consistently betting right side when things are going bad...

Re: Where's the Dark Side Love ??
I'll play DC from any position on the table. It's a little harder to be discreet about it when playing from SL1 or SR1, but the strategies don't change any.
Re: Where's the Dark Side Love ??
Ditto. For those of you who will be in Vegas for this weekend's seminar . . . we're considering doing a pre-seminar dark-side session on Friday night after the meet and greet. We'll talk about it when we get together. Completely optional, of course.
I like the two-naked DC play. I'd go with one $15 DC followed by a $10 DC. The first bet hedges the second against the seven, and if you get knocked off one of them you can always lay single odds on the other as a get-back bet - or $30 odds for a profit - if the shooter sevens out without knocking you off both numbers.

Re: Where's the Dark Side Love ??
I like that idea. Count me in!!
I've been a fan of Wizard's dark side play. DC, followed by enough odds on it to cover a DP bet once point is established as a hedge against a PSO. Once DP travels, remove the DC odds. If I do a second DP bet, I'll let it exposed naked until it travels, since even if a 7 is tossed, I still come out ahead from the existing DC and DP bets. The hole in the initial DC hedge is a bullfrogged point.

Yeah, I was thinking about how many of those Friday night before the seminar sessions go terribly wrong . . . and how we might capitalize on it. Of course, there's no way I'm playing the Don'ts on you guys unless you let me know up front that you're going to be trying to toss a seven after the point it set - which is why we need to discuss this at the meet and greet.
