Supreme Court Opens Way for States to Legalize Sports Betting

Now that sports betting may be coming to a casino near you soon, let me ask a couple/three questions of others that may be more sports betting educated than I am.
Do you really have to handicap sports or do you think you can win via pure money management?
If you think that you have to handicap sports, are there any good educational sources out there (without having to pay for a service)?
If you think you can win via money management, do you have any ideas (other than Martingale)?
I have a sports betting ebook around here somewhere and the authors advocate pretty much pure money management. I'll dig it out and post the name and author when I find it.
Thanks in advance..
Steve

For the most part, you pay for what you get....
Think about it.....
Pay a "TUITION" by pushing THE LINE " some one " wishes it to move
( to benefit perhaps THE SPREAD )
or
invest a modest $ amount to learn
and
the in-sights of making a by far more " Educated Guess "
just me saying
PS: the educated guess concept applies to more than sports wagering

I've been following this case for quite awhile and fully expected today's outcome.
While I'd like to know about the e-book you mention, I've learned quite a bit from Stanford Wong's "Sharp Sports Betting" book. Then for the rest of the Vegas math I like the Wizard of Odds detailed analysis of sports betting, especially his parlays and teasers analysis. Two years ago when Dave Tully was still writing for ESPN, he expounded quite a bit on handicapping and understanding how the books shave their numbers to either draw in betters or press them toward a bad number in a contest - very interesting especially when you overlay it with how the books typically fade the high interest lines on teams like the NE Pats games, yet the squares keep hitting them for $$.
There's a lot of content out there, plus I've been lucky to know two professional sports betters. Just like in craps if you hang out with super knowledgeable people - you can really learn the ropes, the nuances, and the game within the game. And as in craps sometimes it really helps to be lucky, D.N8r
BTW A seven point 2 way teaser is analogous to betting the dark side, i.e. you're laying $50 to win $40 and you have that 7 point hammer on the house.......

Your lack of faith in The Force disturbs me, Commander.......

May 14 2018.
Soon there will be Legalize casinos in your HOME/house..
Now ask your self, will i fall in to the 90% of gamblers that loose at my local casino OR the 10% that WIN at my local casino?
Just because your local casino will now be in your home, it does not change the odds of you winning.
Do you like to drink at home while you gamble on line? Happy dreams tonight.
Jaime.

Good to see the other side of the pond getting one step closer to 21st century sports betting.
Re: Supreme Court Opens Way for States to Legalize Sports Betting
I’ve got two books found out there in the ether:
Money Management for the Year Round Professional Sports Handicapper by Tony Stoffo and Nelson Williams
Bookie Buster 21 Secret System’s Used by Pro Sports Gamblers Finally Revealed by Frank Belanger
Found and downloaded both for free somewhere out there I just don’t remember where.

The previous governor of NJ was the one pushing to legalize sports betting outside Vegas. It finally went through. Christie is a republican.
The new governor, Murphy (a democrat), is looking into legalizing prostitution in NJ. Will be interesting to see how that goes.

Previous results are not indicative of future performance.

I thought NJ already legalized prostitution since they keep screwing their residents.

Just read some details:
"Casinos are required to withhold 25 percent of winnings that exceed $5,000 and are at least 300 times the wager for federal income tax."
That sucks if some kind of large exotic multiple bet lands for you :O

London Shooter,

Why do you think that sucks? How is any different from say "wages earned in the US".
I assume you are from England, and may not have to pay taxes on your gambling wins there, but the US law requires you to include your gamblings wins on the US earnings you have in the US.

If MS casinos like those in Biloxi start to offer full service sports betting, will they also include pari-mutuel betting on the different horse tracks nationwide (OTB)?

Yes Noah from England as I am sure you probably knew.
Just a different mindset and what you are used to I guess. To me, sports betting is all about value and edge. If Uncle Sam comes knocking for his cut all the time, then you have almost certainly got no edge over the game. It would be a bit like odds on a 5 or 9 paying 6/5 instead of 3/2.
Anyway, over here Aunty Liz loves to get her cut too. She just does it in different ways. We pay a lot more at source. Over there you seem to pay a lot more at various points along the way.
