UNHH!! It was OK until BC landed in the horse pistol with a pulmonary embolism blocki8ng off the right lung. UNHH!!That will slow you down a bit- they don't want me driving long distance.
Re: VIDEO POKER
Well, I thought I'd bring up video poker again. I ran into Black Cloud at the Horseshoe a couple of weeks back. He'd lost his Diamond status and was out to reclaim it. In 12 hours of video poker play he went from Gold to Diamond. When I last saw him he was using his wife's card - trying to reclaim her Diamond status as well. BC - if you read this - why don't you tell us what machines you pick and why once again.

Re: VIDEO POKER
Bump. How many of you play VP? How do you pick a machine? Any strategy?

Re: VIDEO POKER
Currently I only play deuces wild. As far as strategy I try to play only single line machines, start small 25 cents x 5 and gradually increase my betting until I hit something or call it a session.
The multi liners look tempting but I feel they put volatility in the casinos corner unless you have the discipline to set strict loss limits and stick too them. Sometimes I'll stick a little money in a multiliner if I'm waiting for something else to open up and the machine is in a spot where I can watch the table.

What ever pays 9/6! IP and HR has em at 25 cents and $5 respectively.

Yeppers, that high limit $5 is practically next to the crapstable at HR, and the 25 cent VP is in non smoking IP on the second floor.
Re: VIDEO POKER
I only play video poker at the bar. I like to drink and I like playing and drinking. I play Double Double, $.25 and when I hit, I move up to $1.00 for a while just to see if I can catch a ride. VP is NOT like DI craps. Once one knows the right hands to hold, it still bedevils the player who keeps feeding the machine.
I also like Wheel of Fortune, $1.00 machines but that is not this thread.

Re: VIDEO POKER
I attack in two ways:
1. If playing on the floor then absolutely the best pay table for my stake level eg 9/6 JOB upstairs at IP or the double bank of games at same 25c level in the Cromwell.
2. If at the bar then increasingly just "suck it up" and accept extra vig as tax on much better drinks and social experience. If you are lucky you will find somewhere like the Boars Head bar downtown MSS which has great paytables and great drinks. Otherwise in Vegas it's often about who you know - Sullys and Gustavs in Ballys/Paris have many known bar personnel who let me slide into slow play despite the light system. As ever a few bucks the right way keeps those wheels in motion
