Betting Strategy "classic" Links
Through the years there have been a lot of "classic" betting strategies seen here on this site and others. My buddy SIA put together a good list of such pages and sent it to me the other day. I thought I'd copy and paste those links here and share them with you. Some will require you to be a forum member to view, so "guests" won't be able to see them. Feel free to click away on them and see where they take you. Enjoy:

You mean besides calling BS and then seeing how he does?
Re: Betting Strategy "classic" Links
MP had a way of stretching the truth back in his early days - or more likely - looking at a very small book of rolls when making those calls. For example, I've walked up to the practice rig before and tossed 80 plus rolls without tossing a seven. But you've never heard me claim an SRR of 83. Some people would claim that in a heartbeat. Fact is, the longer you track rolls the closer you'll see your SRR approach "random." A long run SRR of anywhere near 7.0 is spectacular. A long run SRR of 6.5 should net you tens of thousands of dollars a year at the casino if you're willing to bet the pass line, max odds, and the six and eight only with (perhaps) one come bet with odds from time to time. You just have to have the balls and the bankroll to bet a $300 six and eight and press it methodically up to $4200 or so.

Re: Betting Strategy "classic" Links
Yep, I love systems. To me, nothing is more fun than running some odd ball system on WinCraps and watching checks fly in all directions.
I actually did not create the OH-CM system but tweaked an old system to make it better (in my opinion) but to keep things simple, gave the tweak a new name and gave it to all who were interested. Of all the systems above, I still believe it is head and shoulders above any other system and does exactly what it is supposed to do.
For all you Darksiders that want to start building a system, I suggest you read the article by MP called "Dodging Bullets on the Dark Side."
Far and away, my favorite of his hundreds of articles he has written. I would C & P the gist of it here except that's too easy. Believe me, it is an eye-opener and should be the basis for any system creation. Again, I love systems and know going in most are worthless.
N D Winkless said in his book, all systems no matter how bad they work sometimes or another.
And Thank You Heavy for posting my favorite subject. sia

Re: Betting Strategy "classic" Links
Shootitall, I love your OHCM system. My favorite part (and I mean this, not being sarcastic) is when I establish the don't on the 6 or 8 and then place it. All the dealers start scratching their heads and saying "huh?"
I use it semi-regularly to get around the table.
Heavy and Irish - I have seen Heavy state several times that he had an SRR close to 8 when he was shooting all the time, and now it is closer to 7. I have shot book after book after book recording all my rolls and my SRR has creeped up to where it's close to 7. I closed a couple of books of 720 rolls over 7 but if you take an average over all of them it's under 7. It is, however, a meaningful edge if I could just bet on myself. What do you consider your SRR Irish?
What I have found at home in practice is that I am consistently profitable. Like 5 sessions out of 6 I'm profitable. What I've found at the casino is that it is streakier. I am probably up 50% of the time. The difference is at the casino I have to keep the losses small and the wins big to come out ahead overall. I didn't post a TR for that Shreveport trip but I'll give the gist here. I met up with Shawn and we played for 3 days. A lot. We had about 15 total sessions and we probably lost on 10 of them. I had a couple of good sessions at the beginning, and benefitted from two ATS hits almost back-to-back between me and Shawn that had me well up, and then lost money for a day and a half in session after session where neither of us could get anything going.
Finally, the last day we had an up and down session early and then broke for breakfast. Both of us had afternoon depertures and were going to play until about noon. From after-breakfast forward neither of us could do no wrong. I had a couple of good rolls but they were 15-20 range probably, no monsters. Then Shawn got the dice and just tore up the table. Hit the ATS, hit the 6 and 8 about 10 times each (we were down so pressing lighter than usual but I had a $420 6 and $420 8 at the end of it, I pressed one of them to $900 but didn't get the hit) and ended up positive for the trip when he finished up. Shawn was even smarter and pulled over a grand off the table about 2 rolls before he sevened out. He went from around $1400 accross to $110-in....I didn't see him do it or I might have followed but he had ended up further in the hole than I for some reason so that the whole trip went from bad to good in about an hour.

Re: Betting Strategy "classic" Links
Bentonck, the reason for the discrepancy in you home vs live betting results is because you are likely deviating from how you play in the wild and likely making wagers during your practice sessions that you would not do in the casino. For practice betting to be useful, you need to treat it exactly like you would a live casino session and only make wagers that you would be comfortable doing while managing a "real" bankroll.Bentonck wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2019 7:08 am What I have found at home in practice is that I am consistently profitable. Much like you want your home practice table environment to mirror the conditions where you normally play, how you bet with that play money should be mimicing how you manage your bankroll at a live table. Otherwise it's just mental masturbation.

I thought I'd write some WinCraps auto-bet scripts for these. One problem with this system is that winning the desired progression level does not always result in a bankroll win. For example, if multiple losses are incurred before the winning level is attained, the amount won may not be enough to overcome the previous losses. Of course losses can be limited by starting with a smaller bankroll, but then the chances of hitting the winning level are decreased.

Frankly, his whole "Living on the Darkside" series is so worth a read. Forget about the SRR claims and absorb the strategy & tactics. After going to the above link; you can click on the "Mad Professor Speaks" link and that will take you to a listing of all his articles. Kudos to our friends at Dicesetter for keeping all this content accessible.
Enjoy the read, D.N8r

Thanks for posting those, Steen. For those of you who don't have WinCraps - it's highly recommended. There are two trial versions available - classic and pro - and with the inexpensive "paid" versions you get full access to all functions and no ads. Any plans for a Crapless Craps version someday?

Re: Betting Strategy "classic" Links
My pleasure. They're both interactive scripts. They start out querying for bankroll, sessions, win goals, etc. so it should be fairly easy to experiment with varying parameters.
Thanks Heavy. I've had a Crapless Craps version for many years. It's called NeverCraps and is based on WinCraps classic. Unfortunately, there hasn't been enough interest in crapless to warrant further development. However, I've thought about incorporating it into WinCraps pro. That way I can offer it without having to maintain it as a separate product. For those of you who don't have WinCraps - it's highly recommended. That would be interesting if you could toggle between a standard or a crapless version within the same program somehow.
