To press or not to press.......

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

To press or not to press.......

Post by tonybugs » Sun Apr 11, 2021 8:32 pm

Was down at the Borgata Saturday night with a buddy of mine who just learned how to play craps only a few months ago. Most of his experience thus far has been at my house on my table. His main focus is just trying to get lingo down, betting correctly and learning different betting methods.
We played on $15 table. We both played $15 passline bets with $30 odds. He mostly played the 6 & 8 for $18 each, while I was going with the flow switching from inside to outside. I was pressing from the start. 6 & 8 went 18,30,42,60,90,120. 5 & 9 went 15,25,35,50,75. 4 & 10 went 15,25,35,50,75. He was mostly just collecting with a rare press but never pressed twice on same number.
We played about 3 hours, with no real monster rolls, a few decent rolls, a lot of average rolls, and a ton of short rolls.

We each bought in for $600. Who won more?

I’ll answer after a few responses.

My guess, he kept it simple, and simple paid off ... you bet heavier on yourself and it didnt pay... just my guess
If your gonna color up, there needs to be paint on the brush.

Hard to say, IMO. Did you come down on yr. bets at all or did you leave the bank on the table? You don't say anything about taking any money off the table so I'm thinking, like Parson, he scored and you pressed onward?

On a choppy table like that, I would also give the edge to your buddy.

Correct. My buddy came out ahead. Now I also forgot to mention that I always play the hard ways when the point is even, and he didn’t. I never got paid for a hard way point, so that was a major drain also.

I never got to a point where I thought to regress. Never collected on my $90 6&8 or my $75 5&9 and 4&10.

I admit I was playing aggressive, so regression wasn’t a thought!

For the record, he won $150, I lost $100. There was also one roll when I was playing outside only, and the shooter hit a ton of 6’s and 8’s of which I got zero and my buddy made $150.

3 hours of craps, drinks, a free dinner, a free room, and free breakfast.... I’ll take the $100 loss! Lol

Heading to Florida tomorrow. Still no craps there?

No real craps in FL still, unless you count the 2 ships that go offshore for a couple of hours for gambling.
