147th Kentucky Derby

Believe it or not, craps is not the only game in the casino. Savvy players have a back-up plan for when their craps game is off. If Heavy isn't winning at Craps you're likely to find him playing Baccarat, Blackjack, or even Roulette. If the table games aren't working out he may even take a cigar break in the high limit slot area for a little hit-and-run action. But just like craps - you have to plan your play and play your plan. If you have a question on slots, video poker, carnival games or any table games other than craps, this is the place to post. Let's hear about the games you play when you're not playing craps! What's your game? What's your strategy? How's that working out for you? Inquiring minds want to know!

As of now (11am 4/29) Im ranking as follows:

14-EQ,
15-RYW,
1-Known Agenda,
9-HRC,
10-Midnight Bourb,
17-Highly Motivated

Best of luck to all,
Great selections Tgold. All of those are in my mix of bets. I'm also looking at O'Besos, Mandaloun, Soup and Sandwich, King Fury and Sainthood to include as value/longshot plays. I should figure it out by Saturday.

Good luck to all.

Spent a little time looking at this.

My winner is Bourbonic(20) followed by King Fury(16)

IMO EQ(14) and the other speed will be going backwards down the stretch.

These babies are running 220 yards further than they ever have before.

Closest track for me to get a bet down is 2 hours away. If I go my bets will be:

$50WP #20
$100 Show #20

Multiple Exactas 20-16

Single Exacta 20-all

Single Tri's 20-16-all and 20-all-16

May throw in a ten cent super 20-16-all-all and 20-all-16-all

Will be a great payday when it turns out this way.

Yes Bankerdude80 Im also looking at adding one more(longshot) for my super box along with my earlier selections above. I'm considering ur pick of King fury and Med Spirit for the longshot. I want a >= 20-1 for that final slot. MSpirit (15-1)will likely be overbet because its a Baffert pony. Baffert made a good purchase as he picked him up for only $1000.

So Im likely going to select KF as the long shot. Possibly go with Raiders' LShot of soup-sandwich (30-1). I will wait as long as I can and approach post time to see which offers most potential on payout.

*The first race for today just finished and track is fast. Should be same tomorrow for Derby Day. Im planning on wagering today on the Oaks.

Realtime: Good thoughts as your payout should be good.

"..My winner is Bourbonic(20) followed by King Fury(16) . IMO EQ(14) and the other speed will be going backwards down the stretch..."

I like ur pick of KF as my longshot. I would love to have MBourbon as my longshot but do not see him staying at 20-1 with Mike Smith riding/think he is certainly better than current odds.

Best of luck to all,
All the best,
Tgold

Well, King Fury #16 has been scratched with a fever.

I really don't feel like spending any more time picking a replacement so I'll just bet WPS on Bourbonic #20, plus a 20-all exacta.

now is the time to get the free money that some of the online betting sites will be offering. I will be doing an extaca, my strongest bet, everyone that has Post time odds of under ten over Superstock Keepmeinmind, Midnight Bourbon, Hidden stash, sainthood, and BrooklynStrong, for a buck thats 24 total, Then the Tri, with the longshots in third. that will be about 36. When I get to what they look like on the way to the gate, I will start to play. My last bet in 2019 was ten bucks on Country House.

Think RYW will be the post time fav, because every woman that wants her world rocked is going to bet on Him, LOl. I don't think he will win, but I don't think any horse over 10:1 will either. But I will make a super with sainthood on top, be my luck he wins and I have the wrong 4th place, Thats racing

EQ will be the post time fav. Mattress Mack the furniture guy from Houston has already committed up to $4million to keep EQ the favorite to offset his free furniture promotion. He put down $500,000 yesterday. If you don't think EQ will win then buy a $3,000 mattress set from him and if EQ doesn't win you get it free. Mattress Mack wins either way.
Edited on way to Hobbs NM to get my bets in. Exact opposite of what I posted. If fav at post time wins you get your furniture free.

Greetings raider,
A lot of Puerto Ricans Won alot of money on the K.T derby today, i was not one of them.

My horse Sainthood, will soon be Dog food.
They let that Puerto Rican take the lead, and he never looked back. HE WON ONE MILLION
800 THOUSAND DOLLARS. good for him.

The best horse did not win today. for some reason they let that horse set the PACE, with no pressure that Puerto Rican was laughing all the way to the bank.

Viva, Puerto Rico U.S.A... luck for all jaime1943

I put money on the 1st and second at the last minute, but did not box them. Some one dumped a ton of money on the eight after I checked the odds, I think, or I missed him being between 10-20, I had passed on Medina spirit. got to love the zigzag, just like craps, I go with the trend, I lose, I go against the trend, I loss.

I think Medina will likely be a favorite at the Preakness, we won’t see 12-1 again.....

Well, that 2 hour drive to Hobbs NM would have been the perfect time to have two flat tires at the same time. Would have saved me $300 plus my time.
Oh well, that's the first horse race I have bet on in around 15 years so I'm sure I won't bet another in 15 more. Promise.

Darth, Mattress Mack is the master of hedging his furniture bets with whatever gambling is available at the time. He originally, IIRC, bought insurance policies similar to Hole in One policies used in charity tournaments, but I think even the insurance companies cried uncle on him.

If you don't know his history, he started his furniture "store" in a couple of tents along I-45 in Houston back in the 1980's. Pays cash for everything he buys and if you buy from him he has it delivered to you and set up by that same night.

He also does tremendous things for the community. He has built a real store where the tents once were and anytime there is a natural disaster like floods, hurricanes, etc. he opens the store to anyone that needs shelter and a place to sleep. Great guy.

He also was involved in horse ownership at one time, but IIRC he didn't fair too well in that. Like the saying goes: How do you get $1 million owning race horses? Start with $10 million!

My Derby Results Below

Realtime: (Re: mattress mack dropping a bundle on EQ.) Yes I saw that a few hours prior to post and decided not to do a straight W ticket on EQ.

My Tickets as a f(x) of my final ranking:

Exacta: 14,17,8/ 14,17,8,1 (Lost)
Tri: "" /"" / 14,17,8, 1,7 (Lost)
Sup: "" /"" /"" / 14,17,8,1,7, 15 (Lost)

Bottomline: I would have preferred (7-mandalou) not finish higher than 3rd, Hrc-9 not to finish in top four,....etc. :) .

My Derby Day Summary: NET = -$803, as I won a few earlier tickets at Belm/churchill on Straight W and Ex. Like prior years in Derby it seems i always need one horse to finish a slot above or behind its actual finish.

Attending a Kentucky Derby is still on my bucket list.

Cheers,
All the best,
Tgold
