"there is no reason to fear the 6 or 8 when you got the F'ing 7 on your side".
Amen.
In the same sense it does not pay to get cocky when you have a DP up on a 4 or 10. In truth, I have seen more damage done to bankrolls from losing darkside bets on the 4 or 10 than I have seen with the 6 & 8.
Don't chase the Don't. DF loses 1 bet per shooter. I go two, and on a rare occasion three. Dave took all his odds down after 2 whacks, but left his flats.

I only limit myself to one loss per shooter because I am poorer than Golfer or Dave. And a lot dumber , also.

DF, being from West Memphis, has a way with words. Don't let that fool you. His bankroll is of the size that could fill a wheelbarrow and the envy of many, including me. Yet, his method is sound. He doesn't shoot the dice. When a stickman who does not know him dumps the bowl and pushes the dice to him, he politely refuses, usually with an explanation that, "I promised my Wife I wouldn't shoot dice". He can quote all the dead Italian gambling strategies by heart and is well versed in an assortment of topics. But yes, at the end of the day, he takes only 1 loss per shooter. When people stop shooting, he stops playing and mosies over to find his Wife winning big bucks at the slots or Mississippi Stud table.

Team Taylor wrote:On my last trip this guy was making some very odd bets. Couldn't really catch on to what he was doing but one bet I noticed was he would make a dc bet. If it traveled to the 5,6,8 or 9 he would wait one more roll and tell the dealer to move it back to the don't come box. If it traveled to the 10 or 4 he left it until a decision. He did this every time he made a dc. Thoughts?
That is just a dumb move. Always declare action on the don't come. If the 25 DC goes to 9 then simply place the 9 for 25. (if the 9 gets rolled you cash in on the 7to5 odds. easy $10.00 profit to those who choose to play this way. Even a 25DC on the 6/8 pays a small profit by simply placing $24 to profit $3.00.
Just do it!

Does anyone who routinely plays the Don't try to place a number (or two) for a quick hit before the 7-out and winning on your DP bet? I know that I've heard Heavy refer to SIA's "One-hit Can't Miss" play and Heavy has even mentioned a play with a $25 DP along with $12 place bet on both the 6 and 8. This seems like it would work well on choppy tables. I've often thought about trying a $25 DP and place betting a couple of box numbers for one hit (plus $14 to $18) and then you could take those two additional place bet numbers down and simply place your DP Number for $20 and you would lock up a win in the $15 to $20 range. I think when a $25 DP was on the 6 or 8 I would simply place that number for $12, $18, or $24 (depending on how I felt the table was running at that time) so as not to let the 6 or 8 beat me. It seems like trying not to be too greedy is key when as someone stated, "there is no reason to fear the 6 or 8 (or any other box number for that matter) when you got the F'ing 7 on your side".
Golfer, you mentioned that DF doesn't shoot when playing the Don'ts. I'm curious if You generally play the Right side when you shoot and the Don'ts predominately for Everyone else?

Yep. I will go to the rightside when the table is giving something. A common trend that I see a lot is shooters making their 1st point but nothing after that. If I see that for the other shooters I will bet the PL, collect my winnings and then immediately paly the DP. Zigging and zagging is a winner......at times. However, generally I will play dark and sometimes shoot from the darkside. When I do that I try and set an inside number, lay odds and then try to snipe the 7.
$5 Bill will make place bets with his DP at times. Just like everything else, it can win at times.
Good Luck

Fuzzy2u wrote:The question is how much to pay for the DC bet. It's like a Lay bet, only better because it pays 1:1, not true odds. Can anybody figure out what's a reasonable amount to pay for a DC in this situation?
Obviously, it would depend on the number.
X = DP bet
Y = max amount you want to pay the original DP bettor as a vig
4 and 10 (2:1 to win)
you'd want
2X > X + Y
2X - X > Y
X > Y
So you could be willing to pay just less than 100% vig on the 4 and 10
5 and 9 (3:2 to win)
3X > 2(X + Y)
3X - 2X > 2Y
X > 2Y
0.5X > Y
Max vig you'd want to pay is less than half of the original DP amount
6 and 8 (6:5 to win)
6X > 5(X + Y)
6X - 5X > 5Y
X > 5Y
0.2X > Y
Max vig would be 20%
I included the 4 and 10. Some are just superstitious with certain number and don't like to bet against it.
I think you could probably just get away with tossing them an extra $1. Or if you can get it for free, toss them a $1 when it wins. This way the original DP bettor thinks he can't loss if he sells it to you for free. Because either he gets him money back or he makes $1. For you, you just reduce your cost since part of the time that bet didn't cost you an extra vig.
As they say "A fool and his money ..."
