A couple of weeks ago...I was at a Casino playing Craps and I had a few nice hands. In 3 total hands...I made a total of 12 Points.

On my Comeout Roll Pre-Point Cycle....I almost always use a Horn Set that is also rich in 7's...I usually bet a $5 World or go with a $5 Horn High Ace/Deuce....I was doing well with these bets on the comeout roll the entire session.

Halfway through the session; I noticed that one of the players on the table who was a real positive guy (he was cheering me on the entire day telling me to stay focused and remain positive); he had all of his Place Bets working on the Comeout Roll Pre-Point Cycle (Between $44 - $96 Across)

Like I mentioned before, my Horn Set is usually full of Horns and 7's..A few times I threw consecutive 7's on the comeout roll and he kept getting all his Place Bets wiped out....I tried to quietly signal him to have his Place Bets OFF but he refused to listen. His buddy next to him kept on telling him "You are the only person here losing $$$, turn your Place Bets OFF until he establishes a Point." The guy refused to put his bets OFF and kept on losing more money.

It came to a halt when I threw 3 consecutive 7's on the Comeout Roll Pre-Point Cycle later during the session; I was so bothered that the guy kept on losing his shirt that I changed my Comeout roll to my Point Cycle Set for the rest of the session to stop him from losing money...since I was shooting the Dice well that day.

Now that I am writing this...I am seeing the error in my ways. It's not my responsibility to protect other player's money especially when they are repeatedly warned.

A similar incident happened at Harrington Casino in Delaware back earlier this year (When they still had the All, Tall, Small Bet). I was a "12" away from completing the All Bet... (All, Tall, Small) while I was shooting. The table was packed and all the players were screaming in my ear...."12, 12, 12, 12".... I was also on the All Bet but it was during the Point Cycle so I did not want to change my Dice set to my Horn Set. After about 10 rolls without making the Point or throwing a 12, I stupidly decided to change my Point Cycle Set to my Horn Set to try and hit the 12 to finish the All Bet...I 7'ed out.

So the question is....do you ever change a Dice Set that is working well for you because of bets that others make or due to peer" pressure?

Though I know my real question is....How can I learn to put "blinders" on and not worry about other people's bets?

I have been known to caution other players that "I'm bad to toss a lot of craps numbers on the come out" when I see them loading up on PL action. I've also offered another suggestion or two through the years. For the most part - things like this are ignored by the other players. At which point I have to say "every man for himself."

The situation is somewhat different when you are playing with friends. They SHOULD know what your routine is. Alas, sometimes some of us vary what we're doing from the norm during a hand. For example, occasionally I'll play a place to come strategy. When I do that and am playing with someone who knows the deal - I'll use a trick I picked up from Maddog and Irish. I'll say "Come on, shooter. Get a point." That tells him that I have Come bets on and would like to see my partner shooting for box numbers as opposed to sevens.

Anyone else want to chime in?

ive only ever done this 1 time. I hit a 12 for a guy when he asked for it, he had 100 each on the hi low. he then tipped me 200$. he was also making come bets with heavy odds, so after i hit my 4th point, he was loaded on the come bets and he asked me to pls not set for red on the CO, so i didnt. only time ever.

I've been known to say about shooting, "Anything I'm thinking about that isn't about my toss, is something I'm thinking about that is keeping me from focusing on my toss".

The only times that I have really gotten into the "zone" is when I shut out the table and ignore everything except my next bet move and then the memory queues I use to perform my pre-toss ritual. At least while I'm shooting I try to ignore what other people are doing. Even when I'm not shooting I tend to ignore how others are betting (other then maybe a passing interest if someone is betting style is something I haven't seen). I basically do not want to be side-tracked.

Of course, like Heavy mentions this can be a problem if you are with friends who bet in a pattern that is not matched up with your shooting style. I remember one hook-up with Irish in Reno, we were on a $2 table and Irish was playing a come-to-place strategy. I was tossing a 2V variant and hitting all the box numbers, getting Irish up with come-bets all over the place.. then I'd toss a come-out seven and take out all his come-bet action. Was driving him CRAZY, but I was totally oblivious (as I said, I don't care about other people on the table, even my buddies). After the session we had a discussion about that and came up with some code-phrases for situations where we would like one or the other of us to be a bit more accommodating.

Basically, for me, it is bathroom etiquette. I have a basic understanding of what the guy at the urinal next to me is doing, but I ain't gonna peek, and I ain't gonna comment.

$5Bill and I used to play a lot together. At some point in my evolution I started playing the comeout as a separate game. I noticed that $5Bill was betting the old way I played so I did change my sets because I didn't want him to lose money. We talked afterward and once he knew my new strategy everything was okay. However if I don't know a player and what I am throwing will make him lose money too bad. He should be paying better attention to the game.

I use the same set throughout my sessions and I won't change it for anything. I bet low on the passline and don't really bet the Horn (maybe a $1 craps check) so it's not worth it for me to chase the come-out game.
Recently when the table was screaming for 12's and field numbers I would clap and call for those numbers right along with them, but when I got the dice I'd settle down and do my same routine.
I weathered out the pressure without a problem or a second thought---I just played my own game .

However, there has been one notable exception: One time a player sort of pressured me by betting big-ish on the Yo. He also put up Yo bets for me, a few of which I did hit for a nice payout of $100-$200, so I had a VERY strong incentive to change my set. I was doing it for me as well.

It was an interesting session with that player. He made over $14K with the Yo's that I hit. The dealers and I made a few hundred off of the bets he made for us. But then he continued to bet the Yo until he lost almost all of it! He went from close to 22K to less than 3K in less than an hour
