Why is the C & E Bet so Popular?

It just puzzles my how many players use the C&E on the come out. I can't miss them when shooting UH from SL1. Today the guy next to me who was a $110 inside bettor would toss out either a $20 or $25 C&E bet out on ALL shooters, on every come out roll. Sure he had a couple of nice scores, but most of the time the stick would just sweep his chips away.

Lately I've been working one or two of my sig numbers on the come out and avoiding the game within a game strategy. I kinda like the rhythm of using the same dice set all the time. Don't get me wrong, if craps numbers are rolling I'll toss out a $5 3 way craps bet (High on the hi / lo).

So, are any of you married to the C&E bet and if so what is your betting strategy? Maybe I'm missing out on something?

I think it's a case of poor training (no training) on the game and the fact that some guys just like the sound of the phrase "C&E." This, by the way, from a guy who likes to bet the World.

I like the C&E bet when I play the All Tall Small at MGM properties. The ATS is a fun side bet to play, much more fun than the FireBet IMO.

Anyways, I like to $15 on the ATS and match that with a 15 dollar passline bet. I'll throw in a $5 C&E because I set for craps during the come out when playing the ATS.

Otherwise, my favorite high vig bet is ten dollar ace-deuce yo.

What I don't "get" about the C&E is - why bet the "E?" You already have it on the Pass Line.

Just prior to leaving for a buffet feast one of the locals would pitch out $2 ,start chanting
"Chicken and Eggs" followed by "Catch 'em & Eat 'em "

That seemed to start a stampede of his posse on to the casino foodville station......
