We got to GS on Friday afternoon and checked into a room and were soon back downstairs and decided to meet at the Americana Buffet at GS at 8 PM for the Friday night seafood buffet. The Americana is Gold Strikes new buffet having been open a couple of months. It is my favorite buffet in Tunica. They have a good beer on tap (I`ve forgotten the name of it ) and I like the Sea Salt and Caramel ice cream. What else is there in life for old folks but beer and ice cream?

Now on to Horseshoe to hit the craps tables. Since , I have already hit Pearl at Gold Strike , I play at HS to try and reach platinum. Both Pearl and Platinum mean nothing in Tunica , but they help to get me into shorter lines in Las Vegas. Beginning in OCT, I shall try to only play at Gold Strike exclusively . Mainly because MGM properties treat me better than Caesars properties . Of course with constant changes at the top, that can change.

I hit the craps table and played the Dylan-nacchi , a naked negative progression of a Dont Pass series of bets , one loss per shooter ( $25 $25 / $25 $35 $45 $60 $80 $105 $140 ). The first two bets after a win are a same bet. After a win on the next seven wagers , the win is parlayed. On each loss , you move on to the next bet. In essence , I am trying to win a parlay.

Example: If I have lost 4 wagers in a row: -$25 -$25 -$25 -$35 , then I am $110 behind. The next bet is $45. If it wins , The winning chips are parlayed or "Cowtipped" on the $45 chips on the DP. Now the DP has a stack of $90 of chips. If this parlayed wager wins, I yell, "COWTIPPIN`!!!", and the whole table think I have won a lot of money. What I have really won is a measly $25.

Well, I played for an hour and a half on a hot table where a four number fire bet hit and a couple of more shooters came close to hitting a four pointer. I got up to the $105 bet and when it won and was parlayed to $210 , I was a happy camper when the parlay won . Although that win was really only a $20 win in the series.

During this hour and a half session , I only won three parlays and won a total of $70 for the session.

For my play , I received $2.41 in comps and 137 Tier Credits. This was very generous for HS for my play.

For those coming to Heavy and Howard's Seminar, after playing at any Tunica casino , before you leave the table ask for a couple of meal tickets, sometimes they will say you have played enough for two and sometimes they will say they can only give you one.

I met Gail at GS and with her Gold Card there, we went through the Gold Line which was probably 50 or 60 people shorter than the regular line. I ate shrimp, crab claws , crab legs, catfish, collard greens, cheese , olives, an egg roll stuck in a pile of rice, salami, sushi, two of the good draft beer that I can`t remember the name ,and some sea salt and caramel ice cream.

I waddled out and and went to the room for a good nights sleep before getting up at about 6 AM.

Shall continue:

Gail had received two coupons for the Seafood buffet in the mail at Gs

I was out the door a little after 6 AM for my morning walk , with a few steps of jogging thrown in. I had hurt my knee while jogging in place in the room on my last Las Vegas trip in Feb on the day of a murder/cab wreck on the strip . My knee was not really bad but did not start feeling close to 100% until July. I told everyone I would go to the doctor in Nov. As Nov approaches , I`ll need another excuse not to see a doctor.

I walked over to the Roadhouse parking lot and walked /jogged in circles for thirty minutes, then walked into RH to pick up a Memphis Flyer and a Jackpot mag.

We ate brunch at the Americana buffet at GS . I had salmon, shrimp, collard greens, hash browns, bacon, corned beef hash , grilled chicken, olives, strawberries, grits, a cheese pastry and a creme filled donut (Why Not? I just walk/jogged for 30 minutes). Oh, and a mimosa. Gail had two scratch off cards given out by GS where she had won buffets. The brunch buffets cost $21.99 on Sat and Sunday morns if you pay in hard cash.

After a visit to the Casino Outlet Stores, we got back to Casino Center (GS,HS,RH) and I got on a craps table at HS. This session was a nasty one. I lost bets # 1,2,3,4,5. On bet #6 ($60), the shooter threw a craps on the come out but followed with a natural Seven, so I lost that parlay. I then lost bets #7, 8 and here I was down to my last bet in the series, $140. I had written in my little pocket notebook--Go the limit/Be a Man--I put the $140 on the Dont Pass and it LOST.

I had played for an hour and had lost all 9 wagers in the Dylan-nacchi series ($540). Usually when I lose the series , I have some previous series wins during that session, so that the loss isn`t quite as bad as the $540 was this session.

I left the table and went to the room and watched some football on this first football Saturday.

Since we had a somewhat late brunch , we had an early dinner at the Atrium at GS. Atrium is one of my favorite places to eat in Tunica, but I tried something different this time--a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich made with cajun chicken instead of thinly sliced prime rib. It was good . Gail had a sirloin steak and a Caesar`s salad . All this came off Gail`s comp account but she had 25% off of the bill, because of a scratch off card.

I then walked over to HS and found a Saturday night $5 table and bought in . I played for 3 and a half hours. The table was decent as far as the Rightside players were concerned but did have periods where no one made a pass point. (I sometimes wonder if Rightside players would be better off just making a naked Pass Line wager taking no odds?) I just kind of plodded along , enjoying all the banter around the table with Jack , the dealer, who I have known since he was at old Harrahs by Hollywood Casino.

A guy next to me who was playing for the second time , giving advice to all the new players coming to the table about how to play, saw that I was betting the Dont Pass and began playing the DP. Of curse he would lose his wager and switch back to the PL and lose that wager .

He said, "I know I shouldn`t switch back and forth ."

"Yeah, I tried that years ago and decided that zig-zagging wasn`t for me. I just make a DP no mater what. I`m not good at guessing and the way I play, I never second guess myself."

He said he was going to get something to eat at the buffet and asked me if I knew how much it would cost. I told him just ask the pit for a buffet comp , which he did and received . He gave me a $5 chip for that advice which I tried to give back to him. As he left , I tossed the $5 chip on the table for the dealers .

I ended the session with a $450 win which was a good comeback for the day.

After another good night sleep , I was back up and on the RH parking lot as the sun was coming up on Sept. 1, and then a familiar sound that begins at first light on the first day of SEPT----the sound of shotguns , filling the air with shots aimed at flying doves. After another 30 minute walk/jog, I was back in the room and getting ready for the trip home.

We checked out of the room , ate a comped buffet brunch at the Americana buffet--just how many buffets can one person eat? Mine was a repeat performance frm what I ate at brunch the day before ---same old ,same old --- just like the way I play craps and Gail had two more buffet coupons.

We stopped in at HS , where I had $10 in free slot play that was sent to me in the mail. I played it at a 5cent video poker machine using Oscar`s Grind and as soon as I had achieved one tier credit I cashed, turning that $10 free play into $10.10. WoooHoooo!!!!!!!

When I came to Tunica , my gambling bankroll was $12,010 and,as I leave Tunica, my bankroll is $12,000. This could have been a lot worse, so I leave happy.

I was disappointed in only receiving 202 tier credits for 4 and a half hours of craps play at HS on Saturday.

This is about as open as I can be about life on the Darkside . As always , you can be a big winner or a big loser or just a grinder, winning a little or losing a little. I guess I am a grinder , trying not to be too down when losing big and not trying to be too confident when winning big.

I must go to work and get 30 acres of Temple grounds ready for a New Year on Thursday--Mazel tov.

Yep. Another classic DF trip report. The only thing missing was a mention of Bob Dylan. You're slipping, DF. LOL.

During the first session a guy bought in for about $2000 ,playing the Doey Dont . After a point was established he would make a DP and a Come wager. He layed odds if the DC traveled to a 4 or 10, took odds if the come traveled to a 6 or 8 and kept the DC/C naked on a 5 or 9. He played about 30 minutes and left down $200. I guess he was playing a Super Highway hybrid?

I remember that play. I abandoned it about twenty years ago. He probably found it where I left it parked and took over payments.
