Have you ever seen a traveled DC with no shooter?

While practicing and playing "what if" on the don'ts I ran into a situation I have never seen in live play. I was playing DP with 2 DC bets. At one point all my chips were on the table as traveled DCs and the DP. The DP lost, leaving me with traveled DC bets and nothing to make a Pass or DP bet with. If this were to happen in live play at an empty table, what would happen? I would assume you would either have to remove one of your DCs to make a DP or just wait for another shooter. Has anyone seen this happen in live play?

Whereas a Come bet is a contract bet, a DC can be pulled down. So at the point at which the DP lost one of the DCs could be brought down, if the shooter decided to leave all his DC action could be returned. A more likely scenario would be where a come bettor couldn't shoot due to a disability or didn't want to shoot and a DP/DC player shot himself off the table, then there would be contract bets stranded on the layout.

I can't answer for the disability part, but if you had Come bets out there and there was no shooter and you didn't have chips to make a line bet your come bet would be moved from whatever number it was on to the line and you would be shooting for that number as the point.

EX: You have a come bet on the 9 and the no shooter situation arises, your come bet is moved to the pass line with a point of 9 being considered already established and you finish shooting the hand. If you have multiple come bets the boxman would ask you which one you wanted to move to the pass line and the other(s) would remain as a Come bet(s).

I've seen a similar situation where a shooter passed the dice in the middle of the hand and no one else wanted to shoot. The floor man was notified of the situation and he gave the players three options: (1) Sitting and waiting for another shooter. (2) One of the players at the table could complete the hand. (3) He (the floor man) would toss the dice and complete the hand. In this case, the players opted for #3 and the floor man completed the hand. He actually had a pretty good hand and seemed to be getting frustrated at how long it was taking him to seven out. But eventually the devil showed and all bets were reconciled. I'd be interested in hearing rudeboy's thoughts on this.

I've never run into this particular situation, where the shooter wouldn't agree to take down a DC to fund another come out, or else no one would continue the hand. I'd guess "game over" until somebody steps up to the plate. I've never heard of a casino employee finishing a hand, but that certainly doesn't mean it can't happen. What a conundrum!!!
