I am planning to go to one of my local casino this Thursday. On that particular day, I receive $100 in free slot play. I do not play slots and will use the winnings to enhance my buy in at the craps table.
My question is: how would you use the free play to maximize your return? Go straight to the high limit room or play $5 / $1 machine? Or Max Bet on pennies?
Notes: At this particular casino, your free play is transfer to any machine as long as you have your player's card in. So you don't have to specify or load any amount to a machine. You simply click free play on the card menu and it will take that money every spin you use it --- so when you hit a pay, you can simply remove your card and leave and have that remaining free play to use on any machine.
High denom machines offer the best return. Pick one that looks like fun and go for it playing max coin. Heavy will offer his secret selection criteria when he reads this post.
If it were me, I would first try to do single zero video roulette and bet 1/37th on zero, 18/37ths on red, and 18/37ths on black and cash out and go to the craps table.
If they don't allow this type of Tom-foolery, I would next suggest grinding video poker after doing some training on a video poker trainer app on your iPhone. If you can get 100 perfects in a row on a trainer, and the pay table looks good, this is the best way to go long term. If you have been trained, then I would suggest to bet 1/400th of your bankroll and grind it out if you want to try to squash volatility with #-of-events, or 1/40th your free play ($2.50 per hand in your case) if you want a chance for luck to reign in on your side.
If it's a $100 free SLOT PLAY coupon you're going to have a difficult time convincing them to let you use it on any table game. You might get by with it at Rapid Roulette or the bubble craps game, but I'd probably go with Golfer's idea and use it on a $5 or $10 reel slot. I prefer wheels to electronic machines. When I'm looking for a machine I look for one that was left on a pay off. If you see one with 7 -7 -7 or bar - bar - bar or whatever - and the machine's pay out meter says "winner paid #" then I think you're on the right track. You're looking that a machine that has paid out. My theory is that the machines will hit substantial payouts or jackpots within a couple of hundred spins - the they go back to sleep for thousands of spins. It's worked for me through the years. This past weekend I turned $3 in free slot play into a $90 win at the Downtown Grand in Vegas - which is having it's official "grand opening" today.

Actually, what I think he is saying is "feed all your small ticket into a machine, and then cash out the total with out playing that amount at all". You can take the singl ticket, for the total, to an automatic cashing machine, or to a cashier.
I dont cash each of my wins normally, but May cash out after I say play 5 of my pulls and the do five more pulls and cash out again.
When I checked out at Harah's in LV this past Monday from crapsfest, the lady at the desk told me that I have 15 dollars of free slot play that I did not use. She said it will expire in three days so I took it and followed HEAVY's advice looking for a machine with a payout. It was very early in the morning and very few people were playing slots. Anyway to make a long story short I found one with 3 bars and placed my 15 dollars free play and played max. On the third spin it hit and I cashed out for 575.00. Used that money for my buy in for the Veterans live session and colored up for 890.00
Not bad for 15 free dollars.

Thanks for all the advice. I went to the $1 machine area and try my luck, and made around $150 off 100 spins @ $1 each. I then try to buy in at the craps game but the table was packed and they were not opening up. So I put $20 in the new superman machine and smacked it for another $200.
Been awhile since we've talked about "slot strategies" and whether or not there is even such a thing (that works better than just picking a machine at random). Thoughts? What would you do if the casino gave you $100 in slot free play?
Good question. The property in Rising Sun, Indiana, often has a drawing on the weekends for 700 free "bucks" (card credits for use in slot machines) every 15 minutes. I have no idea what I would do with it.
I run mine one time through what I feel is the lowest volatility machines, $1.00 Double Diamond and Triple Diamond. If you don't want to count the spins you can hit the cashout button and the machine will print a ticket for any credits you have won and leave the remaining free play in the machine.
If the joint has a BJ, Baccarat or bubble craps machine that will accept free play I will go there instead of the slot machines.
Early on, I too used to run my free-play through the lowest volatility machines, in an effort to get as close to a 100% dollar-for-dollar face-value to cashable-cash conversion-rate. However, quite a few years back, I switched to pursuing higher-payout/higher-volatility bonus-round slots.
So instead of trying to turn $100 of free slot-play into $94 to $98; I started running it through higher-vol machines that offered high-paying bonus rounds; wherein payouts in the $300 to $1,700 range were more the norm. Now obviously, many of these all-or-nothing tries ended up on the 'nothing' side of the ledger; but the free-play sessions where I got into the bonus-rounds, made all of those zero-conversion/full-loss rounds well worth it.

A year or so back I had some freebies they had awarded. Was passing by enroute to Belleterre, and stopped in for some quick play on the RS table.
It was packed, so tried the slots. Don't remember a thing about the slot I picked, but that it was a dollar slot and was a quick way to "waste" the free stuff - I rarely play slots. First $1play, won $50. Figured lightning would not strike twice, so since the table was still no let-up, cashed in and continued on to BT.
Nice start for that trip.
