I would like some opinion on this betting strategy. I have only tried this on a practice craps program on my home computer. I have ended up ahead 8 out 0f 10 sessions. Place bet the horn and field equal amounts as the only bets. The horn is paying triple on the 12 and double on the 2.

Wow. The vig on that play is horrendous, but it's fat city when the twelve rolls. Hard to imagine you got ahead eight out of ten. I'll have to crank up WinCraps and play with it a bit.

I gotta figure you wouldn't be at the table long before uttering the phrase "I just need back to back 12's to get even".

I would forget the horn and just play the Field, only because of the triple pay on the 12 and a lot less house edge.

I tried it for about a hundred decisions in WinCraps - started with $5200 - ended with $2100.

Ok,I agree this approach is lousy, just trying something in practice. My last 3 trips to the French Lick casino have netted me about 15K. Play pass line with odds and place bet 6&8. Progress bets after 3 hits. I have not seen any shooters(including myself ) who are dice controllers. How much practice before I use sets& control at casino?

That's a trick question, right? Seriously, it depends on a lot of things. If you are practicing a toss that is flawed then all of the practice in the world won't help. I always tell new dice setters to expect to practice a minimum of six months before they can gain a demonstrable edge over the game. With that said, some folks pick it up in six minutes.

nasmobile - I use to utilize your betting strategy when I had first learned to play craps. Initially I had played the $25 pass line (this is at Maryland Live! Casino where their minimum is between $25-$100 with 10x odds) and threw a $25 world with a $50-$100 field bet (Trying to hit that horn) and it's not too shabby of a strategy. It worked great til I started to realize why not play the Don't Pass which is what I did since I hated to lose my pass line to a craps number. From there I use lay odds dependent on the point and placing other points and trying to hit those place numbers before hitting my point. I had then came to realize for some odd reason whenever we shoot from the don't, the 7 is almost invisible. But regardless, I feel like this gives me more chances in trying to roll the horn on each come out or trying to stay break even with my bankroll. My only problem with this type of play is that other players and dealers frown upon this strategy so i hardly use it unless it's only me at the table.

You may want to alter your betting the horn only after the field wins to better your chances or even wait for a DI rolling outside numbers in your favour. Other than that I believe you should seek another strategy because this type of play is not holding water. In fact simply Parleying the field for 5 wins in a row did hold water.
