Pai Gow Poker
I love the excitement craps, I like the mental challenge of Blackjack but to relax and have a few cocktails and joke around Pai Gow Poker is the best.

When a casino has it, I like playing it to rest these old wore out knees. Fun game, if you are lucky, can get interesting.

Used to play it quite a bit. Have gotten away from it in recent years. Beats me why. Simple game. Fairly slow. Lots of ties. Plenty of opportunities to consume casino alcohol. You're never going to get hurt too bad. Most can comfortably play green chips. I may have to brush up on it and give it another go.

The interesting thing about Pai Gow poker is that when you have a quandary, you can get advice from the dealer. That happens about once in a blue moon but is is nice to know it is available. One joint in S/B carried it but it has been awhile so I do not know if they replaced it with a slot machine.

Re: Pai Gow Poker
The great thing about Pai Gow is that you can tell the dealer to arrange your cards the house way . You never need to do anything except place your wager. And if you have enough money to cover all the wagers on the table , you can be the BANK every 6 hands which is around a 2% advantage. That is a larger edge than one would have in BJ and probably a larger edge than most would have in Dice Influencing.

Re: Pai Gow Poker
I hadn't played for a while but did so in biloxi and they put down a token next to my hand saying House Way and if I did happen to make a mistake dealer automatically set my hand correctly. Was a good way for a novice like me to play especially after a break of a couple of years
Re: Pai Gow Poker
I really enjoy this game, did well with it last week in Vegas. Gotta share this story, my son is in the Coast Guard stationed in Baltimore, goes down to Atlantic City for a friends bachelor party, he's drunk, never played the game, rolls up a 7 card straight flush, 5 dollar on the bonus, pays 8000 to 1, paid $40,000. Groom made enough on envy to pay for his honeymoon....LUCKY
Re: Pai Gow Poker
Do they still allow players to be the banker in Pai Gow or did that go away when they all started the bonus bets?

Marin - As it's on topic. How much of the 40k did he have to pay in taxes?
Mss - yes they still allow players to be banker. I assume bonus bets are not ever part of the deal although as a well enough rolled banker you would love to host the envy bet for as long as the day is short.

LS...for the entire year we accumulated losing lottery tickets, horse racing tickets all to offset his winnings. All he had to pay was NJ state tax which if I recall was under $3k. That same year my son goes onto the game show Deal or No Deal with Howie Mandell on a Military Week taping, He goes through a series of interviews and makes it to the show, gets picked, goes down to the final case which he wins $10,000. Think the boy has a horseshoe up his arse. No taxes were deducted in Connecticut.
