Iron Cross with Come Bets

I'm practicing with a new betting stategy that is a bit complex but offers the possibility of some big paydays. I was inspired by RCs use of the come bet for the second half of the strategy.
First part is an Iron Cross- $60 on the 6 &8, $50 on the 5, $35 on the field with every hit netting me $35. Take 3 or 4 hits depending on how I'm feeling and my shot is looking. After that regress to $32 across and make continuous $5 come bets with aggressive odds. I've attached the odds pressing schedule. I like that i'm getting my profit early before regression, post regression is an agressive pressing schedule for the first 4 -6 hits of each number. After studying my stats on the roll between sevens tab of BT, I see that on a good hand, I'm likely to get 4 -6 hits off of any number, so I press hard till about hit 4 or 5, then start racking my profits while still pressing. This gives me the opportunity for a big score when that rare beast 40 or 50 roll hits. What do all think of this strategy?

Sometimes I take issue with Irish--not this time. I agree with Irish. Why not skip the come betting and go right to the regression and simply press every other hit after you get everything paid for. Simplifies your thinking while you are shooting. You can also take down the place bets if you think things are going south whereas the come bet have to stay up.

Thasnks for your opinions guys-
Isgood wrote "Why not skip the come betting and go right to the regression and simply press every other hit after you get everything paid for."
The come betting happens after the regression. Are you suggesting to omit the come betting and just go with place bets after regression?
Thanks,
Americraps.

Americraps,
Yes--just follow the place bets you had originally bet(maybe add the nine using the money you would have put in the field) and if you have a hot hand you will make money by pressing and taking winning rolls alternately. All without having to think about where you are in your come betting scheme. Also, if you have some come bets up you won't lose them if you roll a come out seven after making a point.

Isgood, Realtime,
Well, you know I'm a tweeker. I really like the simplicity of pressing/taking alternately, it works well. I've looked at the payout difference on a really long hand and the agressive pressing come bets make much more, on the other hand the alternate take and press makes more consistant, steady money on many, many, more hands. I like that comebets ( I live near a 100x odds house) are more efficient as far as a lower vig bet, but in practice, at my home table, I am not collecting enough times to make this method worthwhile. 95% of the time, the post regression dollars end up dying on the layout, proving once again, hogs get slaughtered, lol. I'm not done fiddling with this. At higher preregression bet amounts, there is more $ to put out there post regression. I can then rejigger the pressing ratio to take profits earlier while still building for the occasional home run. In a book and a half of running this betting system, ($210 starting action)the most I made on any hand is about $500, not enough to make this pig get fatter.

Oh man, that's a big factor for me, and probably for most of us out there. I hate to lose. Really, really hate it. I'm all pissed off that I'm leaving practice chips on the table, lol. I think, in doing this betting excersise, I am learning more about myself and what I can and can't handle. Two full books and only 1 monster, and that one wasn't all that big. Hell that could be a month or more of shooting in a real casino. My latest book of rolls ended up winning me about $60 with an srr of 6.26. I would have won much more had I not shot for the moon, post regression. Since I'm whining about it now, I guess I need to change the betting strategy post regresssion. Someone suggested that if my shooting is a little wonky, then I might try to lay the point, post regression. I may try that, but no guarantee that will stop my whining though. I am considering going with two numbers post regression, 6 & 8 for $10 or $12 each and PL with 1x odds.

I've started replies to this thread three times (at work) now and ended up losing the response before I got it posted due to those ridiculous work interruptions. Sigh.

Americraps - I'm stunned that you received as many responses as you did on this thread. Most of the guys will take one look at press progressions like yours and promptly doze off.

On the other hand, it you take the charts out of it and present it all like a trip report, e.g:

"New shooter took the dice, set the crossed sixes and tossed 'em down the table. Yo, eleven. I knew what I needed to do. Iron cross - working - with a little High-Low World action just to make it interesting. Next toss - Twelve, craps. Collect $55 on the prop action plus $105 in the Field. Good God! I've hit my win objective already. Color coming in."

Okay, I'm only dreaming. But seriously - and let this be an example for the rest of you guys who like to play around with betting strategies - if you want us to read what you're doing and comment on it we ALL learn better by example. Think back to kindergarten. Show and tell time. Show us what you're doing (paint a verbal picture) and tell us a story to illustrate it.

Thanks for posting, guys.

You are out of your tree if you think you can bet like this without having a srr of 8.5 or better and stand a chance in hell of winning over the long haul.

You have to have the shot to match the aggressive betting style or you are screwed, better off going to the sports book betting all the dogs in hockey and hoping half of them win.

By the way that strategy would of made money yesterday on the hockey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I'll make it easier and more fun to read. I see your point, most readers miss the first part about regressing to lock in a profit before making the continuing come bets with parlayed odds. Oops, I mean I forgot to mention the waitress whose boobs fell out of her top while I was double power pressing my hard ten, and then the midget coughed and the dice bounced off the blind guys forhead at straight out- the result....Hard ten, high fives all around ! I love this system, lol!!!

After playing with the above system, I'm finding that I'm getting close to having a monster hand profitwise, but almost always falling one hit shot of a big payday on each number. I'm going to try skipping the first step and powerpressing to the second step AFTER regression. This is not real money, it's just on my table. The downside is, I might blow all my preregrssion profits while plunging ahead on the power press, but the upside is getting to the profit 1 hit earlier. I'm guessing this won't work, but wtf, it makes practice more interesting.

Oh my god i am one shoot short on my table my table where i play the best.

Do not skip a step get a better THROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to school again and again till you have it or play have fun and hope you get lucky enuff one day to hit what you want.

I like your idea i would add a 4 dollar horn parlay it the first hit then press 50% each time.

I like it enuff to try it next time out if my throw feels good, and yes i have the on axis controll for this kind of play.

Have you ever been at the table and you knew what hardways you where gonna throw?

Have you had days you could call your shot?

That is the kind of throw you need to make this kinda play work, i am not picking on youjust telling you the truth from experience.

You can never achieve the ritches in life without knowing how to get into the castle!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not proud that I practice. I do it because I need to in order to get better. I go on lots of gambling trips but only make Vegas once a year or so. I'm in the Chicago area, there are casinos nearby. In the last year I took trips to Iowa, Wisconsin, Windsor/ Detroit, Niagara, Reno, and Vegas

By the way, I've seen that midget at the dice table before. Keeps falling off the slot stool and onto the table. Stickman keeps shouting "no action on that midget."

There used to be a midget who played in Shreveport/Bossier once in awhile - and I also saw him in Tunica once. He'd drag a stool up to the table, watch a few rolls, then throw something like $2000 in the Field. If that bet lost he would double up for one bet and toss another $4000 in the Field. If that one lost (and it seems like they always did) he'd get down off the slot stool, drag it back to the machine he'd borrowed it from and head for the exit.
