Just found this and briefly scanned the article. Could be useful discussion when the details of the game are learned.

That should tell you all you need to know. As I see it, NO amount of skill is going to yield a positive EV game. At the end of the day you have the illusion that your skill level can make you a winner. But ultimately the percentage of your loss is calculated by a programmer in a cubical in someplace like India.

I DO believe that an experienced player adept at tracking machine results can win fairly consistently by hitting the machines when they are in pay-off sequence - a relatively short peak pay out time where several small jackpots precede or immediately follow a large jackpot payoff. If it doesn't happen for you in a controlled number of spins then you move on to another machine. Loss limits essentially save the day while you're trolling for a lightning strike.

Another type of machine, the multi-player roulette wheels that feature a full sized wheel where the ball is launched by a burst of air, is also beatable if you understand the algorithm used to control payoffs. The "decision" as to which number the ball is going to land on is made the moment the ball is launched. From that point on the result is controlled by a series of air bursts, braking of the wheel, and magnetic pull on the ball. "Air-Ball Roulette" games are nothing more than slot machines that "appear" to be random. By the way, Dice Trakkr and I have beren working on an Air Baall Roulette strategy we'll be making available in the months to come.

Do I play slots? Sure. All of you know that by now. One of my favorite ways to win at slots is to take half of my craps winnings and run that through the high limit machines, searching for a lightning strike. If I win $400 at craps I might run $200 through the slots looking for an additional win. The thing I like about the machines is the additional variance. I can wager one coin and win 2400 coins on some machines. On many occasions I've seen the $100 - $200 I've allocated to slot play turn into $500 - $5000. But again, loss limits save the day. If I lose whatever I've allocated for slot play that day - stick a fork in me. I'm done.
